The World Cup being the biggest sporting event in the world, why does the trophy look so ugly? I'm sure they can come up with something better. Do you all agree or disagree with the gold chunk.

I actually quite like it, it's certainly different to the typical trophy. Although I can't help think back to the "Three Lions '98" video where they dip a tennis ball in abucket of gold paint, and it does look remarkably like the World Cup.

I think the trophy is great, probably one of football's best.
Also, in ZOO this week, some guy spent three months making an exact replica, and I mean EXACT, and it'll cost the buyer £17,500!
Imagine how much the real one will cost! Also, there is only so much room left for engraving the winners' names on the current one, I think there's space up until 2030-something, and FIFA have yet to decide whether to replace it.
There's also an interesting article about Football Hooliganism and it's likelihood at this WC.

It's nice and easily recognisable as something different. There are so many trophies around that look somewhat alike that there's little charm in them.
