it's going to be interesting to watch the press praise and bitch at sven. he's really set himself up for it this time. I'm really disturbed by the fact that he didn't take another big striker, it's how we've always played, and everything seems great after our result with crouchy at the weekend, but if he gets injured we're screwed. I think the group is a formality as the sweden game shouldn't matter, it's probably better to rest players and just walkthrough than worry about who we play. feel really sorry for defoe though, i hope mclaren has told him he's in for the next meet.

In the very unlikely event that England wins the WC, will you guys hail him as a genius?

No, I'd just say well done to england, Sven does nothing special for the team, average at best.

yeh hed be a god if we win, hes got the players believing in themselves and their shirts again after the debacle of Hoddle and Keegan , he leaves the players to it, trusts them to use their own footballing brain rather than stand at the touchline all the match moving them around like pawns, he does his work when we dont see it, on the training field and in the dressing room.
i just dont think Walcott will be used at all unless we get some serious injury problems as if we need a goal we cant rely on him to make/ get it and if we dont we cant rely on him not to lose the ball , whereas defoe would have been more reliable due to his experience.

He wouldn't have taken Walcott if he wasn't going to use him, why would he do that what with all the fury selecting the little kid caused? Use your loaf. Worryingly, The kid is plan B mate, that's why our JD missed out.

Since taking the England job he's gone from assured astute tactician to a lost, somewhat easily led 'manager'. If they win it won't be because of him.

he's a complete dipstick, with little tactical savvy. If owen or crouch get injured before rooney is back, he will have to play walcott, otherwise it'll look like he's not good enough, which he isn't. Owen showed he can't play upfront on his own so walcott won't be able to do it. Unfortunately our tactical god sven didn't work this out until after he'd picked his final team for the world cup. It's bloody ridiculous.

but why???
why is this kid englands plan B, C or D???
its absurd. he admitted never seeing him play so why on earth has he picked him? why the hell is wenger giving sven advice on who to pick? when i saw it in the press on the monday the squad was announced, i laughed as it was just too funny. by 5pm that day i wasnt laughing.
is no-one in the FA even questioning Sven over this? Lets not forget, despite his four friendly goals, Crouch hasnt scored in a competitive game for England. Our own JD has and is the only striker other than Owen who has in the last year. Rooney didnt even score in the qualifying campaign, i might add.
i knw this sounds awful but if i was the paraguayan, swedish, T&T coach and whoever we might meet in knockout (the germans, dutch, argys) my advice to my centre backs would be to give Owen a sly little kick on his foot early on. this could damage his already weakened foot to the extent that it puts him out and reduces englands options. they knw that way, they'd have to resort to the long ball to crouch and walcott and the chances of winning would increase for them. and what about if rooney returns in a quarter/semi final, any earlier would be insane...that would be the most obvious tactic. get rooney out of the game early on. portugal anyone!!!

You know you've got a good side when teams have to kick your players and injure them just to beat you....
