Tottenham are reportedly keen to sign Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora after the World Cup. The 25-year-old is expected to be a key figure in his country's tournament bid and has been watched by Spurs at club side St Etienne this year.
"I know Tottenham are interested," Zokora's agent Franck Belhassen told the News of the World.
"I know they've already spoken with St Etienne and have made their first bid. But for the moment nothing is done."
Belhassen said Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli knows the player "very, very well", while Zokora is "very interested in moving to Tottenham".
Zokora was linked with a move to London at the end of last year, to Spurs' rivals Arsenal.
But manager Arsene Wenger later ruled out any approach insisting he was not interested in the player who comes from the same Ivory Coast school of football as Arsenal duo Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue.
Anyone know anything about this fella? Is he the big lad in the middle? Sounds like a great eplacement for Edgar if he is.

think they are playing a friendly today so maybe it'll be showing somewhere. Sounds like comolli has sounded him out anyway and i should imagine we've spoken to his club otherwise we'd be in the crap. Don't recall seeing him play but will get an opportunity real soon lol.

Just had a quick look on SkySports;
http://home.skysports.com/player.asp?plid=14516&clid=152&cpid=24
It looks like he got 8 red cards in 30 games according to them!!! Just an error on the webpage though, fear not! No goals in 30 games though so looks like he's more Davids than Jenas.

he is a very central midfielder in the Makelele role.

TBH, don,t know much of him. if he plays the Makelele role in front of the back 4. that would release Carrick more forward where he would do more damage and proberly up his goal tally. If he's as good as Makelele i say go get him now.

 Sounds like he is the type of player we are looking for, it would be great to see Carrick playing further forward with his range of passing and long range shooting.

You would see Carrick score a lot more 25yd screamers, and win the goal of the month more often and look forward to that pukka prize of £100 premium bonds (Lovely).

zakora is awesome, i've seen him play 3 times, very impressive, controls a game. i'm worried that a bigger club will get him WHEN he impresses in the world cup...

Long range scoring by Carrick? No way. He can't hit the ball hard even from the 18 yard area.

I disagree with that, he has a thunderous strike - we see it often, though not often enough.

Why does everybody want to see carrick more forward?? It's not his game and he does well in the holding role....

I disagree - Carrick is a playmaker at heart, if he plays alongside a tougher midfielder then we'll start to see more attacking play from him. Carrick has great distribution and would benefit from being relieved a little of his defensive duties...

Carrick and Jenas have both done very well this season and it's good to have young English talent at the heart of the team, but that partnership doesn't look the most aggressive in the Prem and we do need a bit more grit especially if Davids is off back to Holland.
Let's hope we can snap this lad up quickly before anyone else comes sniffing around!

We've all seen Carrick's Maradona runs at times this season so he can dribble a bit. I think a Carrick going forward we will see good passing still, some good shooting and a little dribbling, he could turn into a proper box to box player, and be successful at it. But this all depends on a sitting midfielder to put in a tackle or two. At the end of the day you have to ask whether Jenas is the player he needs to play next to.
