ok heres an idea , just for fun unless you wanna gamble, you gotta pick 5 countries who are in the world cup finals (list to follow) and they will score points if they go as far as a certain round like this.
Win first round group 5 pts
2nd in first round group 2 pts both will then qualify for the second round
qualify for the quarter finals 15 pts
qualify for the semi finals 30 pts
qualify for the final 70 pts
win the world cup 100 pts
so who wins would get 100 points not a total of all the above
there are 8 groups of 4 teams and the top two from each group go into the second round knockout stage of 8 matches , then the winners go into the quarter finals, then semis then final so it shouldnt be too difficult to follow ebven if youre not that much into football stil lhave a go.
now to make it fairer the countries are given odds and their points are multiplied accordingly . ie Brazil are 1-1 or evens so their points will be as per above and ieven if they win the world cup they only get 100 pts
someone like Togo will be 120- 1 so if they get to finish second in their group and lose in the second round theyd still get 240 pts so it makes it more interesting as to who you chose.
the person with the highest aggregate score from all five teams wil be deemed the winner and will recieve huge worship after the tournament from us all as we will be in awe of their magnificence

also as this is a footy site we can have 20 pts each for the individual and country top scorer in the whole of the finals competition (any dubious goals will be judged on the results given in the following days papers)
