it's been announced that luke young has asked charlton for a transfer due to them being shit and possibly that they hadn't offered him a new contract. SSN reports that charlton did then offer him a new contract after he wanted to leave lol.
So what do you think? would you want him back and if so is he any improvement on what we have?
I always liked him at spurs, and although he played well last year he missed some real sitters in front of goal, which shows a limit to his ability. I'm not sure the outlay would represent value in comparison to stalteri, but we'd get 2-3m back for him if we sold him.

I really don't rate Young and would not like to see him back at Spurs, we want players who will improve the overall rating of the squad and I don't think he will that. I realise we could do we improving our full-backs, an dwould like to buy English, but there seems to be alack of English talent in this area, hence why Gary Neville is in the England team, if we have to buy foreign, it won't hurt us.

He is better than Salty, but not so much better that we've got to swallow our pride and take him back when he insisted on leaving us despite Hoddle wanting him to stay. If we have to buy, buy someone better.

i like him and think he will improve us as a squad but wouldnt be too bothered if we didnt sign him, looks like he'll probably go to west spam. what about Hatem Trebelsi?? hes good and free, if we move early enough we could convince him to come to the lane right??

Me either, he was bright prospect when we sold him but his star has dimmed since then. Sure there's better full-back's that MJ still has to cast his eye over...

Yeah...I don't think there's anything he can do for us, definately not worth any outlay. Good shout about Trabelsi though, wouldn't mind signing him!

Stalteri, Luke Young and Kelly at right back. There are two I don't want there and Kelly is the odd one out.

We need to buy a new full back. Stalts and young are not good enough to take us to the next level.
Dont want chimbonda either.
Trablesi for me everytime. Could be on a free too.......

But will he choose us? I wonder why there doesn't seem to be a link between him and us.

I think we should sign Miguel. Quite possibly the best right-back in the world. Great player, great at eveerything.

totally agree with you spur... Miguel is top class.. He used to play a right wing before moving to Benfica(I think it was), where he was used at right back... Psychically he's top class, strong and quick, he's got great skills and is very offensive...

If we sign a proper left midfield and improve on our FB positions, there is no reason not to believe we can better Liverpool. All they have are Gerrard and Riise. Not too worried about their Spaniards.

damn right.
only gerrard and riise set them apart frm us. in all other postions we are either just as strong or stronger.
robbo, king, dawson, carrick, lennon and keane are superior to their alternatives of reina, carra, hyypia, alonso, garcia and crouch, while davids is far more effective on the left than kewell nowadays, thats how bad he is now :D

I think I last heard that if it was gonna be done, it would be at the end of this week. At this point I'm not sure I want him. He's said the only reason he is interested in us is because Man Ure haven't come out with an offer.

Mate, even I have to stop you there. I'm not so sure Carrick is better than Alonso mate. I think I'd have to slant toward Alonso, he's won Liverpool more games than Carrick has won us.

There are a lot of right backs better than Young and Stalteri, and I mean a LOT. **** Chimbonda if we're second choice. Signing players that want to take Spurs to the top level is what's needed.

has he???
the reason i said carrick is due to his age and how influential he is for us. i think he does more for us than alonso does for liverpool and when we played in january, carrick played him off the park.

In the left wing position are you joking? After christmas Davids form was poor at best, Davids is at his best in centre midfield he is not and never was a left winger. Kewell isnt as good as he was at leeds, but by all accounts has had a fairly good season, he still chipped in with 3 goals and 5 assists in the league which isnt bad considering he only started 22 games.

Davids is a footballing legend. In his time, there are few footballers better. He is one of the game's true modern-day legends, and yes, he had a poor 6 months, but he'd piss all over pretty boy kewell. And he's an aussie for **** sake. I read an article today, tim cahill sayin Oz would get to last 16. Am I wrong or is he ****in dreamin? Oh, wait- I don't care if i'm wrong, Australia suck! Stick to rugby and tennis-they are actually good at those!

LOL I completely agree Davids is a legend, but you cant be amazing forever, and I just feel that the premiership is too fast for him now and that he is not a left winger.

In my opinion Davids never played left wing. True we played 4-4-2, but Davids was never our left-winger - just the furthest left out of our 4 midfielders.

The system was supposedly to allow Lee to get up the left wing and Davids cover him. To be fair... it didn't work out quite as well as MJ would have hoped.
