What are our views on Chelski signing this guy. He is certainly deadly, but at 29 and injury prone, really worth the money (not that Abramovich's next bank statement will be seriously dented by the £30m)??

Chelsea are going to be lethal next season. I'm glad the premiership is attracting world class players, on other hand gutted it's chelsea! Shevchenko is the best striker in the world mate....any deal for him would be a good one.

i'm not being funny but at the moment i think it's good for us. With chelsea likely to win the league it means the other top clubs will struggle to draw in top players. meanwhile we continue to rebuild the british empire from white hart lane, attracting the best young english talent to our club. It's true that we will have to overcome the chelski dominance at some stage, but we're a few years off that problem.

Don't give a sh*t about what chelski do.. At the moment we are not in there league, but wait a few years and we will be up there challenging for the championsip.. Okay they get one of the best strikers in the world, but that doesn't bother me at the moment..

thats true. man utd and liverpool will really struggle to match them but this years priority for chelsea is the champions league, hence the massive recruitment drive this past month. i think r.carlos could be next which could open the door for us to get bridge and given two other signings, we will be very strong indeed and will finish in the top4.
however, if mourinho fails to win the CL, i think he may be booted and this could spark alot of issues at chelsea so this season is the one where the other top teams of man utd, liverpool and spurs must build up their squads and first elevens to their maximum, to take advantage of chelsea the season after next.
its going to be a very interesting two years.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Man U and the Goons are now playing second fiddle to Chelsea in terms of players available to sign, however neither of their managers has enough imagination not to sign high profile players. Meanwhile we continue to purchase players for sensible prices (usually) knowing that they will only appreciate in value and talent. So whilst the other two clubs squabble over Chelsea's leftovers we are quietly building a unique squad which should be at it's peak in two to three years time. At the moment there is no reason for any of our players to leave the club however faliure to qualify for the Champions League next season may hamper our ability to retain the best and more ambitious players.

We've got to put up a fight this season, i think by holding onto fourth all season progression next would mean stayin in top 4 all season and not just hangin onto fourth, pushing manyoo and liverpool for 2nd/3rd. Obviously 4th would be great itself, but for true progression to be made we need to be pushing a little further next year, and if we **** it up on the last day then we'll drop down to fourth! rather than fifth coz we hung on!

Shevchenko may need some time to acclimatise and Carlos is finished as a top class player. So at the end of the day, the Ruskie might have wasted a good 50 million, including wages, on the 2 and still find the going tough in Europe. Should Shevchenko can't find his feet in the PL, then as as earlier post suggests, Moowhino will get the boot. I think the Ruskie may eventually lose interest and draws his purse string. Then there'll be a fire-sale and Chelsea will become a haunt for those put to grass.

sorry to say it but all of last seasons top 4 will be a lot better next season. chelski for obvious reasons, Man U will spend fairly big, liverpool will sort out their right wing problem and unfortunately arsenal will be better. one of the reasons they were so poor was replacing viera which has now happened so they'll be harder to beat. however we've also strengthened and are continuing to do so. my main worry is that Lennon isnt a secret weapon anymore

I assume this is wishful thinking? You don't honestly believe that Shevchenko will be anything other than sensational for Chelsea? Also Abramovitch signed him, not Mourinho, if anything the Special One is rather pissed off at all these high profile signings, as I understand it he didn't want Ballack and is now forced to completly restructure his team and their style of play.
BTW, Abramovitch can't bail out of Chelsea as they are hi ticket to stay out of Russian prosecutors gun-sights, allegedly.

i really do think we can be better than the goons next year. their newer, younger players dont look too good and are inferior compared to ours.
and their will be big question marks at chelsea if mourinho fails in the CL again, although i doubt very much that abramovich will jump ship
man utd and liverpool will deffo be better but i wonder how much. man utd are definitely a question mark if they fail to replace keane and lose RvN and we all knw what ferguson is like in the transfer market...very hit & miss. im much more confident in our recruitment process than theirs and liverpools.

To be fair to Ferguson (something I am loathe to do), his record in the transfer market is more hit than miss.......Cantona, Schmeichal, Ronaldo etc...then again, there is always that slaphead French bloke he signed in the early nineties....anyone remember him (I recall he got about 3 games and was swiftly dumped)?

yeah ive not been impressed with arsenals new batch of youngsters but look at their form in the 2nd half of the season. if they can repeat that for the whole season then they'll be up at the top where they dont belong
