View Full Version : I'm Worried About Ledders

Juande Ramos has admitted that he is frustrated by Ledley King's injury as he would like to name the Tottenham skipper in the team every week.

The Spanish coach sees the defender as one of the key men in his team, but has had to use him sparingly in his first three months in charge.

King underwent surgery on the knee problem in the summer after suffering last term and ther have been rumours that he may never fully recover.

Ramos is not prepared to take any risks, however, and will be patient while King continues his specific fitness plan.

"I really want him to play every week," the White Hart Lane boss explained.

"But this is something we can't control and we have to wait and see how his injury is.

"Right now he can't play any more than he does."

King is said to be unable to play more than one game a week at the moment, but Ramos is keen to have him back on a regular basis and is said to be looking for a further diagnosis for the injury

I am seriously worried about Ledders, that knee injury seems to be getting worse rather than better. First is was one foot, then both and now it's the knee, is it something to do with Spurs training facilities or is he just one of those unlucky players wo'll always be injury prone?

I remember at one time there were strong rumours he wouldn't play again, so if he can only play like 1 in 3 games, then it's better than not having him at all. :(

As long as he DOESN'T play in that STUPID England game, all the better.

does anyone know if hes getting any problems with the knee or is he and spurs just being double careful to make sure it wont flare up again ?
wish he could play every week too , but if he has to be a part time player for a few months to make sure every thing is fine then so be it , as long as he comes through it.

If he can come into important games and perform to his best, I see no problem with him being used part time

He has to make it till next summer and grab himself a testimonial.

havent actually seen the squad ( not that interested ) but surely king cant be in it .fecking madness if he is . if noone else does it he should rule himself out .

as someone mentioned on another thread , it is sadly reminiscent of paul mcgrath and his injury problems , actually worse ,though ledley seems a stronger character so hopefully he doesnt go down the self destruct route that mcgrath followed .

but with bale injured , i think that its conservatively 20-25 million quids worth of defence laying on the injury table .

King's not in the squad due to his injury. He's been invaluable since December, but I said back in July / August that we should just forget about playing him this season and concentrate entirely on his recuperation, and ensuring that he can carry on playing for years to come without it impacting his later life.

Sorry chaps but I am afraid Sir Ledley is finished, he'll carry on until the end of the season and then retire, I would only expect him to play in CC final and the later rounds of the UEFA cup. We'll get less than 10 games out of him now. Very sad but it's a choice between another year or so of playing very intermitently or preserving his ability to walk properly later in life, bit of a no brainer.

Unfortuantly I have to agree with you KK, said sometime ago in another thread this could be it for him.

I really hope we are all prooved wrong but there is just too many rumours and stories going around for it not to be.

McGrath was double footballer of the year one season, don;t get much more recongnition than that.

It's been mooted that both McGrath and Whitesides knee problems came about after Fergie jammed a rusty screwdriver into their kneecaps after they turned up for training pissed one times too many :p .

Something of an exaggeration. He admits he played games when drunk but it wasn't habitual. McGrath is widely regarded as having been an exceptional footballer, handicapped by his drinking and injury. I don't how much more recognition you think he deserves.
