Yeah I'm a bit suprised but hes only really impressed me once this season that was at Portsmouth. Dont know if hes really been given a chance but he wasnt a Ramos buy and it looks like hes gonna clear out alot of ****-molli and Jol buys.

TBH I'm not bothered if he goes

I thought it was Wayne Routledge who was gonna go to villa maybe its a double signing. You never know they might make it a triple signing, they can have Chimbo now!

What's everyone make of this? Thought there was a future at the Lane for KPB, but I reckon this sale is due to Tainios emergence as a quality DCM in the last few games!

Are you sure this isn't about Routledge?

Great if true. I think he's shite.

Sounds very confusing when it was announced that Routledge was having a medical at Villa and now its KPB.

Spurs accept Villa bid for the Prince
by Joseph Caron Dawe, 30 January 2008

Tottenham have reportedly accepted a bid of £3.5 million from Aston Villa for midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The Germany Under-21 international arrived at White Hart Lane last summer for a fee of £4.7m from Hertha Berlin and was full of promise having been named the 2006 Best Young Player in Die Bundesliga.

However, the ‘Ghetto Kid’ has not lived up to the promise since landing in North London and has turned in a series of disappointing displays for The Lilywhites.

More to follow.

Well I think Ramos has had plenty of time to access the squad now and he not wasting any time clearing out the players he dont want. £3.5 million is ok for KPB a loss of £1.5m but I guess they need to recoup sum of the money they have spent. I really dont think we'll miss KPB to be honest unless hes becomes an absolute superstar at villa but I trust Ramos's judgement.

As yid4life said, i think that KPB was a Comolli signing, so this move by Ramos shows whose boss.Ramos has obviously come in and decided pretty much right away, that O'Hara was a better bet, and the need for KPB to stay has dropped even more after the performances of TT in the middle. We wasted £5.5m on a player like KPB, when we had a better one in the reserves!!.Thank god for Juande Ramos!.

Shame to see him go because I think he has great potential.

Dont forget he is 20 years old .. dropped into a team in crisis and in a foreign country.

Got a real feeling this one will come back to haunt us.

Yes, Ramos did show interest in him whilst at Saville. Can't really understand what's going on.

The thing is Ramos worked alongside a DOF at Sevilla too, so can we be sure that HE wanted KPB at Sevilla, and not the Sevilla DOF?.

Don't think so, Ramos would always have the final say, he was/is a very respected personality at Servilla and at WHL.

Opinion on COYS is steering towards this being a mistake or wind up. All sorts of crap about Defoe swapped for Barry, Chimbonda swapped for Poulsen etc etc... I think is is really about Routy and someones misheard

I can't see the logic in selling Boateng after such a short period of time I reckon it's BS. Like neil already said Sevilla wanted him too so why is Ramos going to sell when he tried to buy this player 6 months ago.

Ramos didn't try to buy him. Monchi, sporting director did, and for a lot less than 5m. Monchi controls all the buying of players at Sevilla and is often credited with a major part of the club's recent success. Thus, Jol's jokey aside about the board going to Spain to check out his availability, and how he feared for DC's job.

I see the rumour first started last night on Coys and came from someone who got it through an agent that Spurs were looking to sell him. SSN have gone quiet on it, so it may still be very tentative. I have a feeling MON won't be interested in Chimbo at the price we want, but their squad is small, and lacking numbers in midfield. He also appears to have difficulty bringing players in and is talking about getting in players on loans.

Story has been taken off the Sky website and appears to be an error. Spurs are also denying any knowledge of a bid and state that he is in tonight's squad. However, the original story was that Spurs were making him available for transfer. As MON is talking about getting players in on loan, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he goes there on loan with a permanent move in the summer.

That would make alot more sense and it would be a good move for Routledge and Spurs. His career has been on stand still ever since he came to Tottenham. If the transfer fee is 3.5mil it would be a good bit of business for us too.

What is this world coming to? Journalists making something up or getting something wrong, amazing! I should imagine they left no stone unturned and used the journo worlds favourite research tools, Wikipedia and Google.

I reckon they found a headline about KBP's new holiday home ("Boateng hoping to seal villa sooner rather than later") and thought they had better report it.

I think we'd be mad to let a player of big potential go for 3.5 million. He may flop, but I think there may be a top player in him next year or the year after.

He reminds me of Essien in his first season. He's not near the same level of course, not yet at least, but you can see the power and potential ability he could have.

Gino Ginelli
30th January 2008, 03:32 PM
Essien??! Boateng will never, ever, reach that level.

I know he needs time to settle in and all that, but he just doesn't look like a footballer; when in possession of the ball he barely seems to have it under control, his passing and shooting is wildly erratic, and he flys almost pyschotically into challenges, giving away stupid and dangerous free kicks.

If he is to turn into a quality player then he is going to need some serious reprogramming in technique and judgement.

He's much more raw than Essien was in his first year. I made that point, but he is also a lot younger than he was when he came to England. But he does remind me of him.

Agreed. What the **** are Sky up to this window?.They've been a shower of shite when it comes to Tottenham stories, and this is just the latest one. They already knew Routledge was having a medical at Villa Park, and even claimed there was going to be a double deal.I think KPB has alot of improving to do, but he needs the time to do it.

You could quite easily be talking about John Obi Mikel. Another who needs time. He's more of a DM and Boeteng is more box to box, but I see more ability in Boeteng than him and he plays a lot in the Chelsea team.

Maybe that is why since he replaced Makalele they don't look like winning the league.

I think Obi Mikel is crap (on that level) to be honest, but he must have bags of potential for some top clubs to fight over him. We may well see that in years to come, same goes for Boeteng.

But I think Boeteng has had a few very impressive games already and has potentially shown skill, two-footedness and power.

I wouldnt be too sure about that he has enormous potential and is a lot younger than essien was and his passing is fairly assured, as for his shooting it will improve in time.

It would also be quite unbelieveably bad business for Villa. As it is, 1.25m so the losses on recent transfers(Ghaly, Murphy) continue. I'm expecting some sizeable losses on last summers buys as well.

No, he reminds me of Essien, too. He's black, plays in the centre and came from a major European league. That's about it though.

i too think kpb needs some time and we should stick with him .
like kaboul he has come into a new country , league , team and is still young . because of the reputations they made for themselves in france and germany there will still be a good sell on value even if they dont crack the premiership in another year .

The only one I think we'll probably see a big loss on out of Bent, Boateng, Bale and Kaboul is Bent. He was clearly way over-priced and the reasoning behind that fee will never make any sense. Bale is already a legend and Boateng/Kaboul are very young and clearly have bags of potential. When they settle down and get used to the EPL I think they'll both be quality. Bent could come good though and spend the next 10-12 years banging in goals at WHL we'll just have to wait and see.:D

Guardian and Indie still insisting that as well as interest in Chimbo, Villa do have an interest in signing KPB. However, we want most of our money back and Villa aren't likely to go that high. Toon Town also supposedly monitoring the situation.
