i know its only paper talk but owens chances arent looking too good after he limped out of training yesterday. i would be chuffed to bits if defoe got the call up. surely a fit defoe with limited experience is better than an injured owen with bags of experience

or dare i say sven would call up andy johnson instead of defoe. its pretty obvious sven aint a big fan of defoe aint it. he must love johnson though calling him up after he has a pants season in the championship over darren bent. the mind boggles

Owen has already been given the all clear this morning and will start tonight.

On Johnson, he is massively over-rated, but kudos to the moronic Simon Jordan, his insistance on not losing his 'star' (and by star I mean good penalty taker) and Everton, Bolton and Wigan have all been duped into bidding way over the odds, AJ is a £3.5M player.

What I find extraordinary is that he's going for £8.5M and that the quoted price for RVN to go to Milan is £8.4M. RVN is A HUNDRED TIMES the player AJ could ever be! Also, how is Shevchenko £25M+ better than RVN? I'd say they were both strikers in the world class bracket and there is no way that if Sheva is £35M, RVN, at £8.4M is more than £25M worse. No ****ing way.

I hope that makes sense! :D

Just a thought....I know he's tiny and the same sort of player as Defoe and Keane, but does anyone think it would be a good idea to take Owen from his Tyneside misery? Probably not even achievable but I just wonder what people think about that?

Also, as Defoe has been absurdly linked to Toon, if there is any truth in him leaving maybe we could swap him for Owen!

P.S LET ME MAKE IT CLEAR I DO NOT WANT JERMAIN TO LEAVE!

I'd happily take Owen over Defoe. And Sheva is the best striker in the world.

Best maybe, but £25M better than RVN? What a crock of shite.

RVN is only going cheap beacuse of the situation. He's a great player but he's not wanted anymore, is never too far from some sort of agro and has a dodgy knee that could pop at any minute. The reason he is not wanted is because he had a fight with Cristiano Ronaldo 2 hours before the game, in my book thats a good reason to be sold.

I'd happily put a cheeky bid in for him.

Regardless of the situation, does it not seem idiotic to anyone else that Andy Johnson has been bought for a higher price than RVN is going for? It's just another example of the bullshit in football, I mean, if Everton have the cash why spend it on a penalty taker rather than a goalscorer? Because, quite simply, RVN wouldn't go there, and Everton have to spend more than neccessary on a player of lesser quality. It's no wonder there's such a divide between the 'elite' clubs and the rest. The teams outside this 'elite' band have very little chance of breaking into it. I don't like the way football works....

Owen is finished he has hardly played in the last two years, his first touch is crap, his pace has gone, he has dodgy hamstrings and I would HATE to see him at W.H.L.

I wouldn't mind Owen at no more than 5 million pounds.

Ruud is older than the others. Granted not by much, but he's crossed the 30 yr old line now so his value will only go down. Plus all the dramatic shit at Utd will mean he'll go for cheaper.
