So why was Carrick selected? I though the whole reason Carrick was included was due to his ability in that holding role. So now he's giving 90 minutes of invaluable match-practice to someone who doesn't even play there. Great. Say goodbye to the World Cup lads.....

and with both our right backs playing it'll mean hargreaves will be reserve for the position. I did think we were short on tackles against belarus, but we were also too scared to play football and carrick sat back too deep. I don't believe in this holding role for england, we've hardly tried it, and now coming into a major competition we have to change a lifetimes worth of 4-4-2. If it's such a good idea, why doesn't everyone use it? We're just being ultra defensive because we don't pass the ball with any confidence. We should be trying to be more expressive and attacking, not wasting players at the back. We'll be sat so far back that when lennon beats his man there will only be one player in the box. Look at belarus, lennon was man of the match yet we didn't get any end product out of him at all. We're just going to sit back, witht he most attacking team we've ever had, and teams are going to prey on our lack of confidence. Sven really is the worst manager i've ever seen!!

Just don't get it.... Sven takes all these midfielders... Hargreaves, Jenas and Carrick... yet won't play a midfielder in the holding role...

Also Rio Ferdinand tried playing that role against Blackburn and lets just say it didn't go well!

It's not going to work. Simple as that. Carragher is a DEFENDER. And a bloody good one at that, so why the **** is he being used in a role that other players were selected specifically to do? Carrick isn't established in the team and could use the match practice to settle into the role, I think Carrick is perfectly within his rights to be livid about this. With another defender on the field it seems to me that Sven's gameplans for the WC do not involve much attacking....yet we have players like Joe Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Lennon, Owen, Defoe(hopefully) who can inflict maximum damage on any team, so why are we not embracing this and going to the WC like the attacking side that we are and putting at least 4 past every friendly opponent, thus getting our WC opponents shitting themselves? No, we go to the WC looking like a team in disarray, one that still does not know it's purpose and hasn't realised it's attacking capability. I think Sven is the only person who can't see it, every legend in the world has basically said we can but wont win the world cup and it's because they can see that this team is CLEARLY not playing to it's full potential.

we all know sven hasn't got a clue..if we do well at world cup it will b in spite of him not because of him....in a way the injuries hav been a blessing for him..lots more excuses he can offer up....and as for mclaren wat a mistake..he took enough plaudits for man utds success and then tries to distance himself from svens errors....and he talks bout bringing el tel in as an advisor..i like mr venables..but either you r good enough to manage the national team or your not....back in february mclaren wouldn't have got a sniff..and as for the uefa cup...m'boro conceeded ..what..9/10 goals in 3 games..ok they came back but what does that say bout mclarens tactical nouse....i think at 3 -0 down id work out to throw on another couple of strikers and pray ....its not just the england manager its the whole FA set up that needs changing if we r gonna win anything..id love to win world cup..but i think quarter finals....for us.
