the way the news is goin it seems like we are likely to cash in on unhappy jermain and use the money to brooker a deal for dirk... what do supporters think... take a deep breath 1st and have a think... before coming to your opionion.... as i say to the youngsters i coach... dont pick your best mate pick the best footballer (when we play winner stays on at the end of training).and ahh footballer meaning the player who is best suited to the team you are picking (building).and its proven who picks the sensible team who pass work 4 each other who dont spend time complaining.. play where they are asked ...they usually stay on the longest.. sometime remaining unbeaten..until home time ... i love defoe....now im gona take a deep breath.. coys...

i'll let you know after ive seen him in the world cup but id think better not to have him and get a vey fast skillful left winger to supply the ammo

agree with mjb, defoe is a great player and i've not heard him complaining or ask to leave, so i think he'll be with us next year. I haven't rated kuyt the times i've seen him play, he's not quick, just a big hold up guy with good team play. I think you can better value for that kind of player than the likely 15m for kuyt. The dutch league is a doddle too so lets see how he copes in the big games.

I say keep Defoe as him and Keane are perfect competition for each other then buy Cole as Berbatovs backup who could well develop into a quality player to. Then we would have alot of doe left to address our left wing as it's our only position were we don't have a natural player.

I am massively opposed to the transfer of Carlton Cole and hope it's all bullshit, which it doesn't seem to be as I've seen it on SSN and BBC and they ain't the tabloids, they usually reliable sources. But a big NO, and frankly Defoe is my choice, hands down, everytime.

But it's not Defoe vs Cole though... It's Cole vs Berba and Defoe vs Keano, so is Defoe still your choice when he's against Keano?

I never said anything about Keane or Berbatov. Everywhere, it states that 'Cole's arrival will see Defoe depart' and I choose Defoe in that sense. I know MJ works with little man/big man, but I think personally that this is one of his few flaws....if Defoe and Keane can take apart a certain defence better than a little man/big man combo then it should be employed but it doesn't seem to be the case. I'll put it quite simply, if Cole's arrival signals Defoe's departure, I don't want him. Well, actually I don't want Cole anyway. Defoe or not.

exactly. cole is being brought in as backup to berbatov, not defoe.
defoe is going anyway if he doesnt make the full england squad, the decision was sadly, taken outta our hands by svens farcical decision to include hargreaves and walcott.
cole will be a decent signing but he isnt defoes replacement and never will be...thats torres' job ;)
