i know this is a vague link on the spursweb site, it doesn't quote anyone, but i'd be gutted if we bought duff. His injury record is appalling and i can't see chelsea letting him go for under 10m, seeing as they paid 17m. I'm hoping it's a red herring and we are busy signing babel. Sounds like ribery could be available too although he seems short of pace.

After so long without a left-winger, i'd be happy with anyone.

By other reports Ribery is off to Man Utd. A (fit) Duff would be class, esp with his understanding with Keano.

Also heard that Bibery is interesting Manure, so we may lose out if we're already on his trail. Don't agree paying over 10million for Duff as he's s injury-prone. Might be worth a gamble at 6million. If we are ready to shell out record transfer fee, we should be able to get a good winger in.

Has the Denilson rumour gone cold or what ?

I've never believed that one in the first place, and I really don't think he can stand the rigours of the PL when even the Bullpit Can't last more than half a season.

I agree Duff for over 5 million would be crazy even though he's a quality player it would be like sicknote all over again.

I'm not sure if there'd be work permit problems with Denilson.

denilson has got a spanish passport so he would not require a work permit.

i think we need 2 left wingers if we're dedicated to wing play as we will be playing so many games next season 2 are needed. preferably Denilson & Duff.

People forget about money. The last post was an example of this.

well we've signed 2 huge sponsorshi[p deals, Denilson is free and if we have this agreement with Chelsea, Duff wouldnt be unaffordable so i havent forgot about money

And both would want a shitload in wages.
They would both expect top dollar so our max is say 50k a week that's 100k on Duff, who will be injured alot, and Denilson who is old and suspect.
You want to spend One Hundred Thousand a week on two left wingers...? Plus signing on fees and the Duff fee... That's alot of cash.

Duff would be on less than 50k a week, he knows he's not worth that, Denilson is/was playing in france and has been linked with celtic so theres no way he's be on 50k a week, the signing on fee's can be covered by the money from the january sales, the money from finishing 5th in the league or if its really necessary selling 1 or 2 players. if it was wanted it could be done

Denilson and Ze Roberto are both free transfers at 28 & 32 years old and would do for 2 seasons.

Please m.j not Duff he is injury prone and lightweight, he would also cost a lot of money in wages and transfer fee, lets look elsewere.

I'd have Duff, even if he only turned it on for half a season he is absolutely top drawer. Denilson at 28 (born in 77) is a perfect age for the squad (and not so old eh?!)
F*ck it, I'd have either of them, they're both total class!

denilson is a skillfull player but he has never lived up to expectation. he turned it on in a few games in 98 for brazil. real betis went nuts and splashed out, he played pants they went down and he went out on loan
he just dont seem the right person for the job. but what do i know

Even if, like you say, he is short of pace, his other attributes must make up for it if he is keeping the superb Ludovic Giuly out of the French squad....
