From the official site:
The Club has exercised its option to extend the contract of defender Stephen Kelly by a further year.
The new Republic of Ireland international, who made his debut on Wednesday evening against Chile, has made 43 first team appearances in our colours.
Striker Mido will return to Roma this summer at the conclusion of his 18-month loan period, while we also say farewell to Goran Bunjevcevic and Noureddine Naybet.
Goran, signed by Glenn Hoddle in May 2001, played 58 first team games and played a key role as a senior player in our young reserve group winning the Barclays Premiership Reserve League South.
Veteran defender Noureddine joined at the beginning of season 2004-05 from Deportivo La Coruna and went on to make 32 appearances.
We thank all the departing players for their contribution and wish them every success for the future.

I nearly missed that bit about mido, sneaked that in quietly lol. Oh well, shame really as he has plenty of ability, just lacked the attitude.

im very disappointed Mido has left but am over the moon that Kelly has agreed to stay, although its only a 1 year deal i hope he stays for a lot longer. i think he has great potential and has shown he can play in the premier league and in a number of positions

Don't reckon he agreed, more the club made him by taking out the option.

Now that we've all seen what a liability Salty is, it is better to give Kelly more games at the start of the season to get his confidence back. The Kelly of the season before last would be an useful upgrade on Salty, and given more games, he can still develop further.

does seem a bit odd the kelly thing, he's not gonna get more games, just think it's cover for us while we look for full backs. Might be we'll wait for bridge but he won't be released til jan, after chelski take carlos. I think a lot of people are unsure about chimbo, but he would have been easy to scout so i guess he has enough quality.

Even as understudy to Chimbo, he should be getting more games particularly in the early season rush, with mid-week league games, League cup and the UEFA cup. Also Chimbo might need to be rested more after the WC,particularly if France makes it to the later rounds. We can than sell Salty for a couple of millions to help offset the cost of Chimbo.

but some poeple seem to be forgetting that Stalteri can play as a winger asnd on both the left and the right and kelly can play all along the back 4 and probably in midfield lee can also play on the left wing and as he is right footed im sure he can play down the right.

i recall stalteri being quoted as playing on the left but we tried kelly there instead of him so that pretty much rules that out.

Salty as a winger? Come on; I've never seen him do anything constructive with the ball. In fact many a time last season, our attacking moves came unstuck when the ball reached him; he just gave the ball away.

If he's no bloody good in his "natural" position then why on earth would you want to play him out of position?

I think you need to look at reality a bit more instead of trusting Football Manager.

I'm Canadian and I've never rated him. The only Canadian who's PL standard is Hargreaves.

Let's keep Kelly & not pay an extortion to get the Wigan RB.

i think the fact that they've had 14m in bids accepted says that they have accepted a bid for chimbo from someone.

We've already signed Kelly to an extension. If we can sign a good left-sided midfielder and perhaps a LB, we'll be strengthened. Then our attacking play should relieve a bit of pressure from the defense; and the combo of Kelly(first choice)/Salty should be enough to see us through to the next transfer window when we could see if any upgrading is necessary, or whether Ifil is coming along enough to be part of the reckoning.

I don't think Jol is going to pick Kelly over Salty, it didn't happen much last season. I think the Club took their option out of extending his contract for 1 more season incase we don't get Chimbo or a suitable replacement in time and he would've left for free or next to nothing if not
