all coppells teams have the work ethic, as long as we keep up the comittment and work rate that has been shown under ramos we have the class to put 3 or 4 past them

3-0 spurs

I believe we will pass rings around them to be honest.

Hoopefully jj is fit and daws is back.

Reading done well against the spammers so we must respect them!

Don't think Dawson will be seen for a few more to be honest.

Hopefully we've enough different options at CB for King to have a rest otherwise any team we put out will be fired up. Steed and Lennon are definates, Jenas looks like a new signing and Boateng is showing why we brought him here. Can you drop Hudd after Boxing Day? Personally think O'Hara should be given a bench job.

this wont be a cake walk for us,they are a useful side who are well able to knock the ball around.i still think we will win this one but not by a big margin.

They managed to get a draw with West Ham under 10 men... But with the team we have and the team they got... We should put 3 0r 4 past Reading...

Is Doyle playing by the way?

28th December 2007, 03:03 PM
I reckon if JJ is fit he will start with Boateng...with the Hudd and Ohara on the bench possibly. It would certainly freshen things up...but between the four of them am confident we should win fairly comprehensively. 3-0 to Spurs, with Keane, Berbatov and Malbranque on the score sheet. Reading have a small squad and wont really be able to freshen things up much...plus I expect the Draw at the Spammers took a bit out of them...well I am hoping anyway..

Coppell's had a lot of nice things to say about us today. Top man.

I'd like to think we'll be too strong for them, but underestimate them at our peril. We only managed a 1-0 at the lane last season, and that was fortuitous

Keanoldinho
28th December 2007, 03:44 PM
Reading are a good little team but we should have enough to beat them 2 or 3-1. They're good going forward but their defence should be run ragged by our attack. If we keep them pinned back in their half of the field we could trounce them.

JuicE
29th December 2007, 07:40 AM
I reckon a tough game but we'll edge it 2-1.

Defoe with the winner! ;)

Not an easy game but should be a lot more pleasing on the eye then the Fulham game.

It shows how well Coppel has done at Reading by the respect people give them after only a couple years in the premiership. They can play well and can be a hard team to break down but the way we are playing at the moment and with the confidence showing in the team I think we can win this comfortably.

2-0 Spurs

Who would have thought two months ago we'd be debating which of JJ, O'Hara, Huddlestone and Boateng would be starting a match in the centre at the end of 2007.

It's going to be tight, I've got a feeling Reading may well score first but we will end up 2-1 winners.

Tottenham: Robinson, Chimbonda, Kaboul, King, Lee, Lennon, Jenas, Huddlestone, Malbranque, Berbatov, Keane

Subs: Cerny, Tainio, Boateng, Defoe, Taarabt

Slightly surprised that King is starting but they must know what they're doing. I thought Rocha would be at least on the bench. I guess if we're coasting it will be Tainio on for King. V encouraging to see such an attacking bench, with Boateng and Taara there.

Despite we won today´s game, I´m very disappointed with our defensive performance... It´s fair enough to say that we´re lucky today cause at 2-1 for Reading they have a couple of great chances to increase the lead but they didn´ t converted it. Some players have lost they credits in my opinion and at the end of the season they must be EX Spurs players. I´m a big fan of Ramos´coaching abilities, and since he came to Spurs we´ve improved massively , but some bad habits are still present and it´s now obvious that they ain´t due to bad training or tactics, but due to players´quality.... I just hope Ramos/Poyet are able to convince Berbatov to stay at the Lane, cause I believe that at the start of the next season defensive/goalkeeping mistakes would be rectified , and we´re going to challenge for TOP 4 place...but this time SERIOUSLY !!!!!!!

Great to win,but if we concede like that, then we may be in trouble.
berbatov has finally done some scoring to get him back in the top scorers list after a poor start.
juande is the man at the moment , he is producing magical results and attacking flair, and im sure one international class centre back would be all we need to shore up the defence.
hope my friend does not call me out for a piss up for once as match of the day or football first sounds more appealing :)....ill probably end up watching them both.
i noticed in the skysports ratings lennon failed to shine in such an attacking game. maybe it is time to give taraabt a chance from half time, i still think he is a liability to play from the start in premiership games as he may not be a team player just yet

29th December 2007, 06:05 PM
An insane games, no place for performances like that in professional football. Anyone would have thought we were involved in the entertainment industry.

Few of the players played well today Berba being the obvious exception. Lenon on the other hand is a one trick pony, lacking any intelligence or passing ability. Time to get a right winger with end product and heart; wonder if Chelski want to swap for SWP?

We need a new defence, a new keeper, to keep Berby, to start learning to defend set pieces (especially corners) and a new penalty taker.

Keano's missed penalty was ****ing awful especially after the Arsenal game i can't believe he would put the ball there. ****ing terrible, just lucky Defoe was there as a hungry back up.

All in all, great tactics to have to push for a win to counter the lack of defending but it did remind me of an ardiles game with that scoreline.

We desperatly need some defenders!

It seems to me when hudd plays we have big gaps across the field.

King is no where near match fitness and hopefully can get rest for new years day game against villa.

Hopefully daws will be fit????????????

We need ateast 2 defenders in January...

I'd suggest:

Martin Laursen, CB... (Brilliant defender, very hard to get passed)

Urby Emanuelson LB... (Brilliant stamina, Skillful, Likes to get upfront)

I really do have my doubts about Chimbo! I just get nervous when he has the ball. Lee ain't much better and Rocha just seems to not suit the EPL.

I just think at this moment of time games are coming so quick that we have to play players who maybe wouldn't get a game or isn't fit enough.

We are not defending well as a team and players keep making the same mistakes. Hudd cost us two goals from set play because he is slow and cannot win a header even though he is built like hulk hogan!

I think today was just one of them games were we just had to attack and hopefully against villa we are able to defend as a unit.

King will slowy but surely get there and rocha in my view has never let us down, daws is still injured so when we get players back it will be like a new signing!

With a bit of luck we will sign a centre back who can slot in like he has been here for years. Hopefully we can get that dutch kid as left back!

Problem is Gunter is 18 and far from a proven talent, Bale is injured for 3 months and Gardner is going to be sold. So we still lack cover!

Chimbo could also be sold for 10 Mil to Man city. A good price i reckon.

Hudd is a fecking liabilty yeah he's got skill but he's slow as **** and keeps taking our players out on set-pieces plus he was at fault for the scum winner too. Boateng is miles better and should be a shoe-in like JJ, Lennon, and Malbranque are in the midfield.

Gardner's been injured for the majority of the past few seasons and is unreliable when picked.

City aren't really a club that is going to pay 10m for a full-back - Elano only cost them 8m. They also don't need a RB as they have Corluka and Onuoha, and Richards can also cover there.

Well I've returned from my Christmas holiday in New York, cut myself off entirely from UK happenings, and as such had a terrific christmas.

On my return it's a joy to see that Spurs have gone beserk in my absence, with 12 goals in the three games I missed! Was sorry to see us lose to Arse again, especially on reading that Keano missed a pen to win it. But I think a few of us expected to lose that.

But what about the fulham game? Great performance from the Hudd, and Keano doing my Fantasy Premier League team well with another brace. Brilliant to see the King return as well, although he still seems a way off his best, but that's to be expected. Just seeing him walk out onto the pitch is enough!

As for yesterday... thhppppppt. Glad I didn't watch that one. I may have passed out. Saw the highlights on MOTD this morning, and what a game. An absolute classic. It was just one of those freak games where both teams attacking players were unstoppable, especially the outstanding berbatov. With Keano hitting em regular, Defoe grabbing a goal with almost every start he gets, and now Berba hitting form, our strikeforce is incredible.

If all starts going downhill now I'm back then I'll know it's me and I'll just have to go away more often!
