Not an easy one this, Citeh's home record is very good.. unbeaten yet this season and ouraway form is pretty poor.
But in saying that our last two games have seen a real change in the team and games like this dont hold as much fear for me as a couple weeks ago.
Not sure of we will get a win but we wont lose .. 1-1 or 2-2

I think asking for two away victories on the bounce is asking for a little too much...!
Saying that though, the lads will be full of confidence and looking to capitalise on winning at the weekend.
Hard one to call, and I won't be having any money on it.

KEEP THE DEFENCE THE SAME AND WE WILL WIN!
Dawson has to be ****ed off now otherwise we'll keep shedding lots of goals! The bloke is clueless! Hopefully Ramos knows this!

I can't see us winning two back to back on the road, especially given Citeh's home record this season. TBH, I'm not overly fussed by this game, a win and progression to the next round would be nice but we need to focus on improving our league position by the begining of the New Year if we are to negate the shocking start to the season. An unbeaten Xmas campaign should see us up to 7 or 8 in the table by my calculation which would provide a good springboard for the rest of the season. Obviously Ramos would like to have a serious go at winning the UEFA and as Spurs we have to go in wholeheartedly for the FA Cup, so I wouldn't be devastated if we get knocked out tommorrow, it will relieve some pressure on our over streched squad.
Sorry for being defeatist, it's for the good of the team!:p

Well? We've had a "horror time" (I like that phrase) so surely it's someone elses turn? There are always one or two teams who fall away over Xmas we just need to make sure we're chugging along in order to benefit from their fall. Sure it's slightly optimistic to win all of our games but it is the season of good cheer!

7 points adrift of Toon in 10th place and 12 of Pompey in 7th. So 3 wins and a draw, without any of the other teams playing, would only get us to 8th. Realistically 11th is the best we could hope for over the holiday period, especially looking at Toon's fixtures(Wigan and Derby, and City at home).

Very hard game to predict I think, although Man City have got 100% home record, I'm confident in all the team tomorow, just not Bent...
Hope TURKISH can predict that we are gonna lose, then Spurs will win :).. (like the Hatton and Mayweather prediction) ;)

If we concentrate on ourselves and keep performing I reckon we will ascend most of these sides by the end. I think 7th is a good possibility.

Maybe. Think he gets away with the diving a little bit more though!
Talking of diving Jenas likes a little dive every now and then. Maybe it shows he has got a bit of intelligence because he picks when to do it rather than for doing it sake...

Who said we're not allowed to? Like I said I need to look at the Zokora challenge again, i'm watching on a dodgy feed but from the replay it looked like a red to me. Saying that Steed's was even worse so...
But back on subject, think Lennon and Berba will link up more than a few times this half, if we're going to score again i'm certain it will be through one of them creating for the other, or at least an steaming incoming Steed or Jenas.

Robinson kept us in the game with 3 awesome saves, defence was immense, Defoe did what he does best by putting the ball in the net, Berbs was sublime with his touches and is looking as good as he was last year, O'Hara coming on and setting up another goal.
The whole team played out of their skins and as a team. I dont think there can be said too much about their fitness after this game everyone has given their all.

Fully agree with you on this and it was very noticeable in the second half. He also took too many touches on the ball too often when he had 4 or 5 defenders on him and had the chance to lay it off earlier. Against a side that was able to really up the pace of their game and attack us incessantly, we wouldn't have got away with it.

Everyone of the lads deserves a lot of credit tonight. JJ and Boateng looked solid in CM although most of there work was done without the ball tonight, Teemu was excellent when he came on. No that's not it.
I notice workers, Teemu was a worker tonight, Jenas was a worker tonight, Chimb and Kaboul were workers tonight, as was Berbatov up to pon his own holding the ball up, putting people through, rolling around on the floor when he had three players trying to knick the ball back off him.
I thought his performance tonight was not only pleasing in a football sense but a body language sense as well. He ran back and won the ball in his own half a few times, he shouted at others to get rid when he wasn't up top himself.
Thought he was very good.

I think Berbs does look like he's getting back to form, but he was mixed today and a little lazy in holding it up. He worked harder at Fratton Park. Comments that spurs play when he does are misguided. The turn around has been a team effort of which he has less influential than many and hugely out classed this year generally by Keano.

Personally I think your wrong there matey, yes I will admit that at times he didnt challenge for the ball more when he could of, but when he had to do his job of holding up the ball to allow others to get up field or to waste time he did it well.
When he had the chance to try to make space for himself he did that well and left some of the City players in his wake.
Perhaps I was a little over the top earlier when I said he was back to his best but he had a very good game tonight doing what he had to.

WTF has happenened to Kaboul the man has turned in to a defensive beast a total ****ing rock who doesn't put a foot wrong all game is it the same player from earlier on in thje season he's ****ing immense
BERBATOV WAS ****ING AMAZING let me type it again BERBATOV WAS ****ING AMAZING he must be shot to bits his hold up play off the ball movement and dribbling was amazing tonight. MJB he's not a robot the man did the work of 2 players tonight.
Malbranque is just deadly everytime he gets the ball he's liable to do something special and he took his goal like a true ****ing pro fessh on al cutting inside Dunne and flicking back round the keeper **** me I'm in heaven
O'Hara is a very special talent who's eye for a pass and range of passes are phenomenal also his commitment and fight are second to none
Boateng is everything we thought Zokora was when he first got here. The kid could well be our Essien. He does all the dirty work and gives JJ the freedom to get creative and go forward. The kid has great positional sense too he's dynamnite and will keep getting better.
Robbo is the best keeper in England right now he's been immense lately the 2 or 3 saves he made today were top draw absolute world class and win won the game because of his display. Credit were it's due he's lost us afew in the past but today he won it for us with quality saves at crucial times in the game.

Now does anybody want to dispute the influence Ramos has had? He just had no luck against West Ham and Brum despite some lingering lapses. But we look to have cut those out and we are getting some more normal luck.
In fact we had awful luck tonight again but still won away to 100% City and kept another clean sheet!

To be expected no?
You can't expect a player - even more so a striker playing up front on his own - to continually sprint after lost causes for 90 minutes surely...?
Especially to expect it from Berba. He's not a grit and steel player. Alan Smith would do it. But he's shit.

No, but too often he lost it through being far too casual, sometimes twice within a few minutes. I can't see how the occasional sprint back would go amiss since, as you say, his game isn't based on running around and would still have the energy. I also felt we were far too wasteful with the breaks we had and didn't test the keeper, preferring to take another few touches or passes when the opportunity was there to force saves. The possession stats(65% with 10 men!)support this.

Berbatov did the work off 2 men tonight he was ****ing knackered. Everytime he got the ball he was holding it up like the world class player he is with Dunne and Richards all over him pushing and pulling him around. He was absolutely knackered. Nobody can run continuously for 90 minutes it's immpossible. When playing as a lone striker you have to play with your head more so than your heart or you'll fall over and die after about 65 - 70 minutes.

Comparing Berb's performance tonight with the one against Bolton there is no comparison. Similar circumstances, although we were at home with the comfort of a 2 goal lead, yet then he was far more economical with the ball in that game. I also felt too often he was looking for a foul to be given tonight. Admittedly City were keen to bump and barge him, but throwing yourself down and looking plaintively at Bennett isn't going to win many concessions. (Arsenal just scored with 10 men - what's the chances of both NL sides winning in Lancashire with 10 men?).

Also sometimes I worry that Keane drops off too much dont get me wrong Absolutely fantastic player and team player but when he plays do we rely on him too much coz he always wants to be the MAN to create something so we usually play through him too much?

You're joking right Malbranque and Keano have been our best 2 players this season. Ramos has us playing as a unit and we will keep getting better and better. There is nothing to worry about no more as long as Ramos is here we will be challenging for honors every season. Top 4 beware we're coming for you bastards next season and we'll get top 7 this season too.

im thinking this is a serious question ,not just to wind one person up right??
Gotta be asked to be honest, three games out= our best three games of the season, is it coincidence? is it just Ramos taking effect? is it Keanes a crap captain?? btw who was captain without him i didnt even notice anyone whinging :p
id leave him on the bench and start with Berbs and Defoe on Saturday
You talking about me? My opinion on Keane is well proven to be rational. I took a lot of stick on this forum even though I was right and have been proven so.
Just because the results have come it doesn't mean it was due to no Keane, it was despite it. Tonights was even despite not having 11 players.
I told you weeks ago the results would come because I could see the footwork and tactics improving hugely. It's the team and squad that has improved a great deal as a whole. Keane was our best player when we were shit and is the reason we still have a season. It would be madness not to play him and would hurt us over the long haul.

Absolutely, Mal is good enough now, he wasn't before.
And Keane doesn't drop off under Ramos unless Bent is going behind. You can't blame him for dropping off as that is what Jol asked him to do and we needed him to because it was about all we had going for us.

Having watched the highlights last night, I gotta say in hindsight, the thing that pissed me off most wasn't Zokoras ridiculous red card... it was the commentary teams lack of praise for the build up to our second goal! Berbs holds off 3 men just outside our box and plays a thru ball whilst falling over... O'Hara picks out Steeds run from all of 40 yards... Steed nutmegs Dunne and chips it with the outside of his right foot into the bottom corner. Brilliant.
Bravo lads... bravo. :D

Only cos your missus won't have anything to do with you for at least 48 hours if we win at the Emireshites. Personally, I'd say it's a fair trade, 48 hours of being ignored for a life time of great memories.

Comparing Berb's performance tonight with the one against Bolton there is no comparison. Similar circumstances, although we were at home with the comfort of a 2 goal lead, yet then he was far more economical with the ball in that game. I also felt too often he was looking for a foul to be given tonight.
Err slight differences in the circumstances in that we were at home vs Bolton and were two nil up when we went down to 10 men, I don;t think that's slight mate that's huge.
By charging around the pitch as the lone centre forward you are giving licence to at least two defenders to come forward with impunity. Berbas role after 20 mins last night was to give breathing space to the defence and midfield, which he achieved with something to spare. His job was not to track runners etc but make sure that City had something to worry about and we had a target to hit. A better perfomance away form home by a lone centre forward is hard to imagine.

It's not huge. You'd expect a far harder task against Allardyce's Bolton, a side that had often overwhelmed us, even in those circumstances, than Eriksson's City, a side that often struggles when it's behind and forced to attack.

It's pretty easy to imagine. You're letting the result intoxicate your appraisal. I wasn't advocating "charging around the pitch", but there were instances when he'd lost the ball, and could have just made an effort to make the defender in possession hurry a bit more. There was a good example on the highlights yesterday. Having been dispossessed, Berb is about 10 yards from Richards, who is in the centre circle with the ball, yet he has no interest in putting any pressure on him and Richards has enough time to make a cup of tea before just moving the ball out to the right.

I thought his hold up play and educated work rate was far better in Fratton Park than yesterday. I thought he was mixed yesterday, he had some quality moments but I thought he could have been more resolute in holding it up and linking things to make sure he was the springboard for us to push up and push city back in.
Instead he was lax at times when the the ball was played into him and lost possesion or didn't gain control. And he didn't have the same purpose off the ball as the others. That doesn't mean that he had to, as a lone striker, chase headlessly out the wings or even back past the half way line, but he could have put in a far better shift and pressed the defenders much more. I thought the performance was far more due a terrific effort behind him than anything Berba did. But at least he has stopped being a total prima donna.

I thought Berbatov was class yesterday. If you seen him after the game talking to Petrov he looked knackered like he had nothing left in the tank. Even the few times Richards won the ball off him you could see by how Berba was dribbling he was shot to bits and had very little energy left. This City team is far better than Bolton last year especially defensively with Corluka, Richards, and Dunne at the back.
Playing as a lone striker for 70+ minutes against the team with the best home record in the country this season I don't think there's much more you could ask of him he even played his part in the 2nd goal. Some peoples views on here makes you seem like you don't actually play football all you do is watch it.

Quote:
I thought he was fantastic tonight, absolutely world class, he repeatedly made Dunney and Richards look like dummies.

He was ****ing awesome tonight, he won the game for spurs, took the pressure of them all the time.

best perfermance i have ever seen from an opposing player against city, world class!!!! he was the reason why they seemed to have so much more space than we did tonight, despite having ten men

I actually wouldnt have minded him scoring at the end when he made us look like mugs again with his turn and shot. Fantastic performance, he took on about 6 players with 1 run in the first half. Always taking the pressure off them.

You really need to grow up mate. When people disagree with you act like a neanderthal and often call people thick even though your not exactly a rocket scientist.
And I can assure you there are people on this website who if you went on the pitch with them would put you on your arse, go back and do it again. :p
Some people didn't think Berba was amazing or as good as Portsmouth, so what. The main thing is he is getting back to something like what he was last year.

I can understand that viewpoint as he had some sublime touches and he's always liable to do something magic and open the opposition up. And he did that once or twice, but I just thought he could have been much better. In my opinion he has had way better games.

Nope, I wouldn't expect a harder task, 2 - 0 up meant Bolton had to come at us, which an Allardyce team is singuarly unable to do without resorting to meat and drink long ball. City may well have struggled to break us down, in no small part influenced by the fact that 3 defenders were occupied by Berbatov. That's not to say I thought he was better last night than he was against Bolton, by virtue of the fact that the Bolton performance was the best I have ever seen by a centre forward, that would be impossible. But, you can't expect him to chase down everything, there's such a thing as only fighting the battles you can win. At times when down to 10 men one of the best things you can do is give the oppo time on the ball, ILOGICAL I hear you cry, but no it's not, it slows the pace of the game down, thus giving defenders the chance to reposition, spot their men and mark up.
As for the result intoxicating me, nope, I am the most cyncial Spurs fan I know and look for grey clouds in sunny skies, last night was one of those rare moments when an Indian summer shone!
In Ramos I trust!

It can be a tactic to let them have it until they cross half way, but aside from that I've seen him hold the ball up better, like last week. He just frustrated me at times.
