how does that wet your whistle? Might be one of those where he's just after better terms on the contract they're offering.

I'm amased by this, a link which makes perfect sense in almost everyway. I'd welcome Denilson but I'd want another left footer as well, he's not exactly gonna perform week in week out is he, still, about time we replaced Ginola. If we did sign him I would want a clause in his contract stating that he has to do at least 20 stepovers every game.

I think some weeks back, there was a link about ****ball.

we could take him back as mascot, poncing around pitchside in a rubber suit for a couple of hours on a saturday. lol

Or as a punchbag in the parking lot for frustrated fans tolet off steam should when the team underperforms.

I thought that was why we bought Ghaly?

yeah and he'd be good at it as thats what he's been doing at arsenal all season on the pitch

Denilson would be a good signing because he's theoretically in his prime as he's only 28-29 i think so he could do a decent job for a few years

Your guess is as good as mine, I have no idea what this chap does on the pitch but he seems to spend a lot of time warming the treatment table, maybe a direct replacement for Sicknote?

the opinion i have formed from a couple of reserve games is as follows;

he's a good squad player, not much more. he's a sort of utility man who can only play 1 position in that he is, i believe, a central midfielder and can do everything but nothing outstandingly. would be well suited at a club like Bolton as he is that sort of player and quite big and strong as well so could fit in with their ethos, not that im saying we should sell him but thats the kind of player i percieve him to be.

Or as a buddy for Mido? But we paid 2 or 2.5 million for him. About the same as we paid for Murphy who has also done fa for us. These 2 and Rasiak must have been the worst deals we've made, though we lost only half a million over Rasiak.

You're joking? I thought the sale of Rasiak wasn't just a good piece of business, I thought it demonstrated Levy's business genius. Who else would have got £2 mil for possibly the worst striker to play in the Premiership, he made Adi Akin-bad-buy look like a quality signing. Mido was free and apparently Roma even paid 1/4 of his wages. And you can't compare £2 mil for Ghaly against £4.5 mil for Ruel bloody Fox can you?

I meant the worst of the present regime.

I meant the worst of the present regime.

I see, not exactly much to compare them to though, all the other signings have been quality other than Murphy. And Atouba. And Edman. And Lee. And Stalteri. Oh yeah, I take your point!

highlander
24th May 2006, 04:26 PM
well to be fair Edman & Lee were/are good players and i liked and continue to like them both

spurs61
24th May 2006, 04:34 PM
I'll accept Edman as a decent player. I have yet to accept Lee as a player fullstop.

his defensive capability's are very questionable but his attacking qualities are definatey very good

spurs61
24th May 2006, 04:43 PM
Can you elaborate on that? As far as I can see all he does is bomb forward 40 yards and then does one of the following

1. Knocks the ball back 5-10 yards to Davids and is then left out of position

2. Attempts to take on the full back, puts in a shit cross stright to the first defender/goalkeeper and is then left out of poistion

3. Attempts to square the ball to Carrick in the centre and is then left out of position

Does anyone else see a patern emerging here? He is a DEFENDER not a winger, as such his priority is to prevent goals against us, not provide (very poor) support to the front men.

Hate to bring this up, Shoot ffs replied Sol campbell, which is incorrect, we have been !

Just proving we have been linked to absolutely every single player in the world ever!

and just to prove it...

granted he does get caught out of position a lot of the time but he is immensly fit & very skillful. he may not be the best crosser of the ball but does he certainly gives the opposing full-back a good run around.

AndyHarker

what really annoys me with lee is the fact he has the weakest shot i have ever seen on a prem footballer, i can't think of the specific game but midway through the season he hit a shot from the edge of the box which ONLY JUST managed to reach the goal! Shocking from someone touted as being one of the best attacking fullback's in the dutch league!

Superspurs

atouba was an absolute legend! he was the worst player i have ever seen in a spurs shirt.......seriously lol and he almost ran me over outside the players entrance!stupid ****, but.......i did find him reli funny to look at

Lee is nothing except an airbag. Can't make good use of his dribbling skill.

shoot_ffs
24th May 2006, 07:23 PM
well i think he's done well in his first season, except for his pals act with park from utd. bad on so many levels.

AndyHarker
24th May 2006, 07:53 PM
he wouldn't be bad as a second string player, but we definately need a first choice left back and he is not it!

We may eventually have to put Zeigler there.

Chinaman
24th May 2006, 08:10 PM
He was returned to us, but I suppose if we can't get a decent left back or a left midfield, he'll be given opportunities to stake his claim in either position.

i thought he was great last season, but see him more as a left wing. The few times i saw him at wigan he looked pretty awful.

At least we made money on Atouba and Edman. **** knows how.

Denilson is a legend. He would be great as he is truly one of my favourite ever players. He taught Cristiano Ronaldo the stepover.

He would defo be woth a go especially on a free!! He is what we need!! If Jol keeps him in check he would be fantastic!!!! (he apparently likes the nightlife)

I'm all for Denilson coming but after watching that link I'm not so sure! I thought the idea is to compile clips of the player scoring good goals and beating his man with skill and speed. Didn't see much of that, but then it was so bad I quit after a minute.

Is he still any good? Has anyone seen him much recently?

Welsh Spur
25th May 2006, 08:09 AM
First Davids, and now Denilson? It couldn't really happen could it? I hope so, it'll be the second 'legend' we've signed, when I was in school these players were ones only the big clubs signed, I'd love to have Denilson in our team.

Danishspurs

I don't rate Denilson... 4 years ago he was top class... I don't know if any of you have seen him play recently, but there is a reason why neither Real Betis and Bordeaux wanted to give him a new contract... he's become rather fat and he's a real primadonna and has no teamspirit...

I agree, if Jol could get him back to his old level he would be big, but I don't think it's possible...

Welsh Spur
25th May 2006, 08:34 AM
Actually you're wrong, he's still negotiating a new contract with Bordeaux, whilst talking to others, according to Sky Sports.

25th May 2006, 08:55 AM
good as i didn't see him beat anyone with pace in that lot of clips. We don't need two gut buckets on the left. I was really shocked by reids appearance for eire last night, he'll be on celebrity fit club next. He's already making noises about not being forced out and having 4 years left on his contract, i got a bad feeling about him.
