We chase him for what feels like an eternity and get forever bounced back. Next news to break is he is gagging for a move to Newcastle and he "would love to to go to the NorthEast". Is he insane? Where/when did our interest in him die?

I think our interest died because if he wants to play in the North East he is certifiable, MJ has a policy of not signing lunatics,

its crazy isnt it. i think it could be a bit of agent persuasion though. they saw how owen was bribed and knw they're desperate to replace shearer so will pay over the odds. they'll take newcastle for mugs, just like everyone else!

I assume when Dimitar Berbatov put pen to paper.

His wages at the toon will be massive. Newcastle go about their business in the wrong way and are constantly being held to ransom, they have a host of very ordinary players on huge salaries. Bowyer/solano/parker/boumsong etc all on £45k+!! Actually Boumsong isn't ordinary, he's absolutley shocking to be fair!!
Doljonspurano summed it up well, they're just mugs!!

I think Solano is one of their best and is good enough for most teams. Scores and creates.

if this bloke is so keen on "the north east" maybe someone should have him talk to that genius nick barmby. he'll find out first hand what a great career move it is playing football up there.

If Kuiyt really does want to join Newcastle then we have had a narrow escape. I would have to seriously question the ambition of anyone who joins any of the North East clubs. Only Kuiyt's bank account can benefit from a move to Geordieland.
New goss though, my Pompey mate says we are talking to D'Allesandro about a possible move from Wolfsburg, 'bout £4 mil.

dirk want's to go there as he will be the big fish in there small pond,he also knows that there wont be regular 1st team football if he came to spurs. So all i say is that this will be a great waste of talent if he goe's up there!

Me too, although I'm told that he wants to stay in Portsmouth (why?) but his wife fancies London. So I guess he'll be moving to London.....;)

Lol - know how that one goes! :)
I think the deciding factor for Kuyt was the ferry from Tyneside back to Holland, much quicker than driving up to Harwich.

Well now the Scousers want him! That might mean they won't buy Defoe.

I'm not sure we want "Big Dirk" anyway the way he's prostituting himself about!

i guess if the scousers are gonna replace morry then he might fit in with that, i'm not sure they wanted morry just as a line leader tho, he was really dissapointing.
Kuyt is well over rated for me, he plays like mark hughes and gets goals as a regular in a good team in a mickey mouse league. Think he would kill all their transfer kitty in one go (good no defoe) and be pretty poor value at 12-15m.

More links to Carlton Cole today, even in the papers! Please god don't let this be true! Every night from now until the close of the transfer window I am going to wish that when the new season starts our front line consists of Keane, Defoe, Mido and Berbatov. :D

think you might have to support another team if you want to follow mido. I have no problems with cole if it's as a fourth striker, not as a replacement for defoe. I'm not sure what kind of kitty we'll get for getting into uefa cup, but as it's a straight knockout you can't really guess at how far you'll get. I immediately thought we'll do really well, but when you look at the lost of clubs, it is gonna be tough. With probably 4 new players to come in to the first team squad, our remaining kitty must be tight.

I've heard MJ has £25mill, so £11 has gone on berbie, that leaves around £14Million, and some players are sure to leave so the budget is looking good!

It USED TO BE a straight knockout when we were in it last.... ah, memories! God Bless Graham Roberts and the otherwise crap Tony Parks!... but now it's more like the Champs League (groups of about 5 I think?) so those that drop out of the big one can still play some games and make some money.

so it's qualifying groups and knock out? when did that happen? i was so interested in our uefa teams last year i must have missed it lol. Yer i think we could recoup quite a lot in cover players if needed. The average age of our squad means we won't have to spend too much once the squad is assembled, so i'm half expecting a big spend on our long term targets, even if it takes next years budget too. Better to have your top targets on board than allow them to slip by.

Mido is as good as gone. Cole at 2million as 4th striker looks okay. I'm not too sure that much money could be made in the earlier rounds of the UEFA Cup, as we may have to travel to some faraway and tiny towns. If we can reach the QFs and beyond, then perhaps the financial rewards would be greater.
