good good, its all part of putting the spurs brand about in the far east which is good for the club. does this mean we are not defending the Peace Cup or do we do it after our friendly's.

As happy as I was to see us win the tournament and lift the trophy last summer, I don't think it really counts as silverware...Although we did beat a full-strength Lyon team!

Anyone seen the UEFA cup list of entrants? It's looking quite strong, I guess no stronger than usual. We'll see if CL Qualification is beyond us for 07/08...

ive looked at the UEFA entrants list and theres nobody there that we cant beat, i suppose the biggest threat is from the spanish clubs and Blackburn. the italian clubs would usually be worth a mention but italian football has been on such a downward spiral over the last few years they pose little threat

There's a lot of tough sides, Sevilla could be back in if they dont get CL, There's Schalke04, Roma, Lazio, Celta Vigo, B'burn, Leverkusen, Feyenoord etc.
But yeah, I agree, there's no-one that we can't beat, on paper.

my biggest worries are blackburn, seviile and the CL dropouts as we dont yet know who they are but theres likely to be quite a big side going into the UEFA like Rangers etc

Arsenal could be one of those drop outs!

highlander

Dude Rangers didn't qualify for CL, Hearts beat them to second so they are already alongside us in the 1st round draw....

...and we're better than Blackburn. Simple as.

So who'll be travelling around Europe? Thats hoping we dont draw West ham and Blackburn and then Rangers! Oh Shit!:(

Spur

It would be a pretty shit European Tour if all our opponents were English.

Would be good to knock out West Ham though.

Welsh Spur

I'd absolutely love it if we smashed West Ham to pieces, how I'd love to see Konchesky gutted coz they couldn't beat Spurs when Spurs have a full-fit, unpoisoned team.

Can't find the link. Are we touring as pre-season training? If so,it's better not to take part in the Peace Cup as it's extremely hot and humid in Asia in July and it will drain our players too much when many of them are coming back from the WC and have not had a proper recuperating period.

i don't think that there is a peace cup this year, i think it is every two years. iv searched fro peace cup 04 and found nothing wheras 2003 is when PSV won it then 05 was when WE won it. so looks like the asia tour is because no peace cup this year. :(

all pre season games are for the purposes of getting back into the swing of things. im never too concerned if we lose to small teams. What does concern me is drawing an english side in europe. i want it to feel like europe - not a domestic cup tie

AndyHarker
22nd May 2006, 06:40 PM
i agree totally, we wait ages for europe the last thing we want is the spammers or some one like that, we want a proper European tour!

Chinaman
22nd May 2006, 06:43 PM
Naturally, I'd like us to win the whole thing. But seeing this is our first fling in Europe in a long while, and the team has no experience there at all, I'd be happy if we can last 3 rounds.

Welsh Spur
23rd May 2006, 08:33 AM
Yeah, and then have the Gooners rip into us over how they can make CL final and we cant even beeat 3 UEFA teams. **** that. I want the UEFA Cup! Then we can rip into them, they lost CL and to Galatasaray in UEFA last time out.

Spurs have said that no tour of the far east is planned and that the only friendly confirmed so far is away to birmingham.

That's sensible, particularly after the WC.
