Just seen the mail reporting we're gonna put Rocha up for sale.

seems a bit odd that given our personnel issues and of course its only as true as the guy who wrote it thinks it is.

Maybe a thread about Rocha isn't a terribly glamorous topic, but i'd like to know others opinion about the guy and how he fits into things.

Personally i think hes an excellent member of the squad, despite being in no way in a month of sundays a 1st choice player. As back up imo hes been just fine, much less a liability than gardner, and versatile too. when hes filled in as CB i don't remember any glaring errors and even as LB he was sound. and given our back up for chimbo is staltari, i would imagine he'd be fine at RB too, safer than the maple man. despite us having an obviously better option in all 4 positions at the back, and with King still out, Rocha is the guy i want to see in if someone else is out. of course the Kaboul/Dawson partnership isn't exactly working yet, and Kings continued absence suggests we probably need another classA CB.... we'd still be wrong to lose a versatile defender like Rocha. Apart from anything, with space for only 2 outfield players on the bench, Rocha is ideal. Well maybe we could do better, but i hope we're not going to try fixing our defence cover when it isn't broke. maybe if we bought a great new CB dawson would find himself Mr Cover, but i can't see him covering RB and LB like Rocha can.

Absurd story. It'd be madness to offload such a valuable squad player, especially in view of Kings extended absence.

I know our transfer policy has been a bit suspect of late, but we can't be that stupid can we?

You gotta be kidding. It's been absurd for about 4 years. Plenty of defenders came and went very quickly, some deserved, some not so. That's on top of the central midfielder turnstile that's been at the training ground to ease players in and out. Who knows why Rocha isn't rated but that rumour's been running since the summer. Really something at a club that's allowed Gardner to play at the top level for more than seven years and tolerates the continued ineptitude of Stalteri. And Lee was allowed to be continually inept for well over a year whilst Rocha's looked consistently competent.

Probably has something to do with the player's recent operation, and comments regarding the sheer force of challenges he has experienced that he feels has contributed to that. I don't think he likes playing in English football.

Totally agree. It's madness to even think of getting rid of Rocha. There are plenty of others ahead of him in the queue for the exit.

rocha has been one of our better players when he gets his chance, firmin tackle, and good in air after a period of ajustments, and lee is a very good defender, as is ekkoto, what shud be questioned is their coaching, if a player consistantly looks lost on the field of play, yet gets nod for country and performs well, then question must hang over his management and preperation before matches,
