This is meaningless. All I want to see are Bent and Boateng starting. We're already through so I don't want to see people like Jenas, or Malbranque/Tainio in positions they dont play in. Use the opportunitu to give players a run out.

My position on the bench indicates that me and Shuggie are the Bent and Defoe of this team? Which you want to be then Shuggie?

Ah sod ya, i'm Defoe, your a sixteen million pound paper weight.

Dear Mr Jackdaw,

I'm fed up of waiting for my time in the first team. All I do is score you goals and excite the fans with millions of shots from outside the box. If you want to continue buying in strikers to challenge me then go for it. But i'm not happy at being second fiddle to Robbie anymore.

Just like when West Spam got relegated i'm handing in my transfer request. I no longer want to be told 'sign the ****ing thing or else'!

My best regards to the lads (except that bastard Keane, who despite playing rubbish is picked every bloody week and even given the captaincy even though the most constructive thing he does is fling his arms about when someone doesn't give him the ball).

I anxiously await your response.

PS. Could you pass on a quick message to Choda - tell him to please learn to hold onto the ****ing ball.

Could you please pass on a message to Spur that his letter impersonating Defoe was absolute knee-jerk cock and that it is Berba who should make way for Defoe on current form, not Keane. He was one of the inspirations last night who refused to drop his head and give up and has had good games this year.

An of course generally it is plainly obvious that Defoe isn't on the same level as Keane.

I just actually don't like the fact Keane is undroppable. One of 'Jol's boys' y'know what I mean?

He'll have a bad game - and he's had a few so far this year - but the boss will say he didn't. Very much in the same way he does for Robinson and Jenas. But everyone else he will lay into for one reason or another. But those three...no way! He never has a bad word to say about them.

Ooops sorry i missed training again, didnt get much sleep from banging Defoes other half on the sly like, dont tell him ffs he wont pass to me again, he did once back in 2004 , or was it a poorly hit shot ?

signed Tom (yes my cock is my BIGGEST muscle) Huddlestone

PS i know i cant turn on a sixpence but i can certainly turn on a WAG

and sometimes being the slowest player in the squad is a benefit, see the top paragraph as proof , Jermaine may be fast in the box but that was the reason she came to see me.

Sure, just off Cavendish Square, London W1. Yes suits would be good although briefcases are optional. The cheers will be due to the fact that we've sacked all the employees of the companies in Liquidation and are keeping their redundancy pay for ourselves...and of course the 10-0 battering we had out tommorrow!

Who said anything about free beer??! (There is actually but I didn't offer it to the likes of yow)

I have now been to a massive 2 games at White Hart Lane, although one of them was actually an away game, no one told me.

I have no grasp of the concept of fickle and will throw the accusation around specifically to people who stick to their views, are able to eloquently back up such views with facts but disagree with my own ill-informed views (I've been to 2 games now!)

The fact that my opinions directly contrast with the views of others who are in a better position than me to have the knowledge in no way peturbs me and I consider them all to be fools for not heeding my faith.

Yea, that's true but sure everybody has bad games. Do you think Van Basten wouldn't have bad games up front for spurs the way we are playing at the minute? Keane is doing okay.

Keano is generally a super player for spurs so that's why I see some of these comments as knee jerk. If you play Keane you'll get a damn fine return come May. If you do the same with Robbo and Jenas you ****ing won't, so I can't agree with your comments regarding that.

No problems at all but then he's been under no real pressure or needed to make any saves. Defoe just hit the outside of the post before ht after good work in the box by Mal. Defoe should have scored but seemingly opts to blast every shot when he needs to place them.

Tommy Hudd isn't playing well, Zokora is covering a lot of ground but not acheiving a lot, boateng looks promising but he seems to be trying a little too hard, Steed looks like he may open them up, id like to see him play in the centre.

Boateng looks a long way from playing in the Prem. Just too one-paced and doesn't really offer anything on the right. He's not a right winger though.

We looked shocking out there today.

I'll just re-use my two posts from coys, and a reply from someone else to make it all make sense:

I don't know what to think.

Are they really good, or are we really bad?

I'm sort of leaning toward the latter, as we are playing the equivalent of Grimsby.

I know that our recent record against Grimsby isn't too good though.

More like we are probably just disinterested. I mean it's not easy to get oneself that motivated after 6-1 on 1st leg.

That should be all the motivation we need FinnYid.

'We beat these lot 6-1 back at home! I'm getting on the scoresheet today!' should be the motto of every single player.

Instead we again don't keep a clean sheet - handball or no handball that should not have found its way into the back of the net (why no challenge on the player? why no marking on the player coming in? and why oh why did our players stop playing thus forgetting the very first thing a coach teaches children PLAY TO THE WHISTLE).

We looked terrible. The fact we are through and the fact we were 6-1 up should in no way take away from the fact that we were second best today and looked amateur. This team embarrass me, yet again.

I think thats very harsh to judge him on todays performance as he is not a right midfielder, but Jol insists on playing central mids on the flanks (tosser).

Agreed he was a bit 1 paced, but it's the just same as if Scholes was played on the right for Utd, he would be completely uncomfortable, but it wouldn't mean he isn't good just that it's not his natural position.

Problem is that is where he's going to be playing as back-up to Lennon. I wasn't expecting a right winger's display, just something more along the lines of Ghaly when he played there. Boateng didn't really have any drive or invention and seemed barely conscious, except when the defender flicked the ball at him after a foul, and he rared up at him.

I'm only going to comment on the players who are regulars and started:

Robinson: Absolutely no control of his area. Whatsoever. Shouldn't even be in the reserves, he's that bad. Positioning awful as well.

Dawson: Actually looks like he's lost confidence. Was still better than Gardner though.

YPLee: Not much to say little impact but did nothing wrong. Should have done better with the ball in the last 3rd of the field though.

Zokora: The commentator said he was our 'key' midfielder. We're ****ed then.

Huddlestone: Quit football, or improve your fitness. Absolutely usuless on a football field. Lazy ****.

Malbraqnue: Same old, same old.

Bent: At £16.5million, he cost more than Thierry Henry. Thing is, we got fleeced - he's not fit to lace ol' Va Va Voom's boots.

Defoe: Should've done better. But thought he gave it a good go, and to be fair to both Bent and JD the midfielders did not give them decent 2nd half service. But should've scored nonetheless.

*KPB's debut* Looked ok. Didn't look 100% but he could be a good one, I reckon. A sort of Essien/Mikel clone. Was slightly disappointed with him, but he was probably lacking a bit of fitness.

Keane and Bale showed why they should rightly be 1st choice. Oh, and Bale, I think, is a winger and not a fullback. He is Giggs' natural successor. Taarabt - someone please teach him quickly that you have to work hard, and pass the ball. Good ability but still very very raw.

When is this going to end?

i take back everything i've said about wanting to see KPB, he is in no way good enough atm. credit to Jol, today justified him not making one of changes many including myself wanted to see. can't see him (don't want to) starting a game again this season, he needs a lot of work, bench player maybe at best for now, gives very little width, slow, too negative at times.

Bale kicks ass, but hes not great as a LB defensivly, just give up on that and watch him turn into one of the best LMs i've seen playing for us. because Lee was pretty good again today, bit slow coming forward when steed was at LM, but if bales at LM its not gonna be such a problem, Lee has a solidity to his game very few showed today, hudd(awful), steed, dawson, staltari, gardner etcetcetc. i don't think zokora was at all bad today, but hes still not impressive.

robbie showed why hes ahead of defoe. i don't think defoe was too bad apart from the fact he couldn't put anything away. TBH i think i'd start berb and robbie and keep defoe as the sub to come on for either going forward. Bents playing like a donkey atm, i guess our midfield can't produce the goods for a striker of his ilk. he got praise for his dummy, but i don't see why, he doesn't seem to want to shoot anyway, it was his expected move based on what i've seen. frankly i don't want to see bent again for a while unless someones injured.

untill bale and robbie came on we were little more than embarrassing. and i hope taarb quickly becomes first choice understudy for both bale AND lennon

I think I'm going back to the "I don't care anymore" philosophy. If the board are serious about turning this around they've got to make a descion NOW!!! Not after we've been taken apart by Liverpool, then it will takes weeks to repair already fragile confidence. Better to go into Sunday's game with a fresh start and a new outlook.

I hate calling for Jol's head, I really like him as a person and he has improved the side immeasurably, but he is showing week in week out that he has lost the plot and has no clue how to reinvigorate the team. If we could bring in a "tactical coach" to aid Jol then that might work but I don't think Jol will stomach it and it may serve to unsettle players even further.

This is make or break time, it's time to put sentiment to one side and think about the furture of the club rather than one man.

Only problem is, I can't think of anyone to replace Jol who actually speaks English...

I wouldn't advocate going to Anfield without a manager. We've been hammered there a number of times in the last 30 years. With Jol still in charge there's a greater likelihood of a moral victory in only losing 1 nil in a game like the one at OT. But we can't continue with Jol surviving on a game-to-game basis. Either Levy announces there will be no change this season or he takes steps within the next few weeks that result in Jol's departure.

I think if you do your job the situations matter little and get turned around anyway. Would you not agree?

Look at Mourinho last year. His board were wielding the axe for the whole season, but he came out with 82 points, CL semi-final and the FA Cup despite bad injuries in the year.

And I think no matter what if a manager has lost the dressing room then he has to go. And it appears to me that Jol has. Oh I know they say otherwise and Kaboul ran over to him etc. But like and respect are two different things, as most of like Jol, but few respect him as a manager now.

There is a distinct lack of work rate, confidence and purpose in our play. Hell some fellas aren't even giving there all and that to me is clear guillitune time at any club.

God this was a nothing game. This team are terrible. The important thing was to not lose. I don't think winning was a big deal, just getting through

With no real match practice, give the lad time he will come good. But as usual jol plays players out of position. Why couldn't he rest either tom or didier and play kpb in the centre, with taarby out wide?

Exactly. What was the worst that could have happened? Something that Commoli must take responsibility for is that we do not have wide players able to come in and replace Lennon and Bale. That's why Jol always plays safe and stuffs in Mal and Boateng.

That's just speculation mate. When Jol has the options he prefers to play cm's there anyway, which would suggest more evidence that it is Jol who vetos the players that come in, not commoli. I'll bet you that Jol has turned down loads of wingers that Commoli has presented to him. Maybe that what's causing the arguements.

It doesn't make sense in not having someone who can easily replace Lennon. Originally Lennon was back-up to Routledge, well before Commoli appeared on the scene. On the left we haven't had ANY left footed players until Bale came in, apart from Ziegler who faded quickly. Jol would have to be a lunatic in sanctioning the signings of JJ, Tainio, Ghaly, Mal and Boateng and thinking: "Yeah, I can get them to fill in on the flanks". Can you name all the wide midfielders we've been linked with in the past 3 years? Petrov, Routledge, Bale(signed the latter 2 although one a LB)....

Well, as I say I think the evidence points to him vetoing the signings and yes being a lunatic. Remember Jol has a philosophy that wingers are somewhat dead in the modern game. He has said it many times. Hell he's okay with no wide men at all.

It's pure cock of course but he still comes out with it and more pertinently picks teams as such. I wouldn't say he has any worry over the recent shortage of wingers. Taara doesn't get on the bench often, neither does Routledge. I don't think he likes Lennon either. I say he'd love to play Mal one side and Tainio the other, but he knows the fans would go mad.

His philosophy seems to be that playing 2 out-and-out wingers leaves the team too vulnerable to counter-attack. He does realise that without Lennon in the side we often lack the pace to competently counter-attack ourselves. We've seen Routledge and, like Ziegler, he hasn't been able to progress to fulfill his potential. Taara should have started today but I can see why Jol would be wary of using him in the Prem. He looks exciting when on the ball but often fails to realise he has team-mates to pass to. Still, had he played Taara on the right, who would have been the natural left-sider to replace Bale?

Thats what im saying mate the lads only played 2 meaningless reserve games we cant expect him to be a superstar 1st game when he's not even played in a "proper competitive" match for u.

I wish he would REST hudds he's losing the plot very quickly and he wont play adel because he doesn't trust him. I think Jol has the touch George Graham about him its like he's scared of flair players or something?

In my opinion you go like for like, and that would have meant Routledge at certain times this year. I know he's not fantastic but it's about balance. Even an alright performance from Routledge would give you another dimension and stetch the play and the other teams defence. Tainio just gives you dick all out wide and Mal just demonstrates that he'd be good in a central attacking role but is pedestrian out wide and doesn't give you the angles you want for your team.

Taara should have had much more game time, he's gifted, no matter what the criticisms and he will learn by playing.

Jol's philosophy is just cock. The best side in the country is manu and they don't get butchered on the counter, they butcher teams themselves on the counter with the two wingers. You can't worry too much about that. You just pick your side to do the best in normal play as that is most prevalent.

It doesn't make sense anyway as he wants attacking fullbacks and if they go forward and you have one or two cm's out wide who will also be forward and central then when you get attacked at pace you will be vulnerable to the main pace merchants in other sides out wide.

We often got destroyed from mal coming in and then losing it between himself and jenas or somebody else and being out if position. Plus we have so many inherent gaps that it make us easy to attack.

My philosophy is more pace in your own wide areas to prevent this and to be more effective yourself.

Jrio i have been under the impression for a while now that Comolli buys the players. And thats why i feel for jol because under arnesen i felt they were good mates and worked togeather. Mj has even stated that they still go out for the occasional dinner togeather. Jol wanted downing and petrov and look how that turned out?

Rumours are also saying that the only player jol wanted was bale. I could be wrong but why else would they want to sack a manager who spends 40million on players unless it's not his team his building for the furture?

Yer im with you wanye where's these dutch tactics where they love there wingers? Name a game where we had two wingers playing? ( and steed dont count)

Hudd im not a fan of he gives the ball away time and time again, but him and zokora do each other no favours, they are both defensive mid and we still concede goals.

Seemingly Commoli finds players and Jol can veto signings intended for the first team. My best guess is that Levy sanctions signing players for the squad that Jol doesn't necessarily approve of, reasoning that he can attain quick profits on most of them. Apart from Murphy and possibly Ghaly, he has. There are many disparate views on this. Look at the signings under Arnesen. A whole slew of players signed that lasted a short time, many playing at CM, no width, generally very average players with most not being clear first choices. Only the signing of Bale has significantly differed from that. I'd place little emphasis on Petrov not signing. He's getting 60k a week at City, compared to Bent getting 45, and that would place him well outside our wage structure. Downing I'd cite as a home-town boy who'd be reluctant to move from Boro at this stage in his career. He also seems exactly the sort of player that Spurs fans would slag off remorsely once he'd signed for about 12m, unless he regularly set up 3 chances a game and scored in every other.

Sources claim downing was keen on a move but Levy and Comolli didn't think he was good enough. Which i found hard to believe because of what downing has come out and said. Martin pertrov i felt would of signed for us because of the berbs factor and i don't think he cared about wages. I think city were very clever in signing him. And the spurs fans would slag him off but he would of certainly made us a better outlet. And pertrov for 6million was a shambles on our part as most mardrid fans say he was there best player and the one they would mostly miss.

Well i say that as spurs at the time were doing much better than city and looked most likely to have a good season.

I can see were your coming from and you could be spot on but if that was the case than why didn't berbs sign for united?

Maybe pertrov signed for city because he is waiting for him to join man u?

Well I went to the match and it was like a practice worse actually
so disappointing for all the fans over here expecting a performance. Still some positives the Prince looks a bit special and Bale is a class act Tarabt why so late he was showing some tricks at half time Ronaldo would have been proud of all in all frustrating much like the season so far! Bent though we should ask for a refund - fortunately Robbie saved the day!

Any one see the channel Five interview I was on supposedly? White Spurs striped shirt glasses come from Limassol - let me know if it's true thanks or if you recorded the programme - I don't get much excitement like that out here!

Any way hope those of you who came over enjoyed yourself and that you all got back safe and sound - hope to see you again next year maybe!

Listened to this on Radio London in the end.

What a 'meh' game. I know there's a lot of frustration at the performance and not trouncing them, but I'm happy to stick my head in the sand and ignore this one. It was already won, there was a number of unblooded players and most of them couldn't be arsed, given the humidity. Plus alot of these UEFA ties in obscure venues are crappy games due to the opposition putting 11 players in the box.

So I'm not paying any attention to this game at all. all we learnt is what we already know, that Keano & Bale are quality

2 very different characters. Berb signed for us because ManU dithered, and we concentrated on selling the club to him and emphasising his importance in it. To someone like Berb that makes a big difference. Petrov was offered 60k to our 30k a week(our offer was the one that shocked him) and so that decision took about 5 seconds to make.

A shame because i was looking forward to him becoming a spurs player for about a year. I felt the club coulf of pushed the boat out for him.
