Does anybody know what will happen with Mido? Is he staying or leaving since it looks like Defoe might be gone. I don't think it's a good idea for both to leave. We should keep one of them in my opinion.

id love to keep them both to stay. it would allow Jol to effectively rotate the strikers as he would have 2 pairs so Keane could form a partnership with Berbatov and Mido & Defoe could continue their partnership. it would mean we could seriously have a go in the UEFA cup and still keep up the pressure on the big boys.

That would be ideal, but will Mido and Defoe accept as being the B tandem?

highlander

true but hopefully they wouldnt be a B partnership but more of an alternating partnership, a bit Ranieri-esque so they would all get a similar amount of games. dont know how well it would work but would be nice to have 4 top quality strikers at the club

And ideally we will get to both domestic Cup Finals so they can toss up to see which partnership plays in which. The winning one will also play the UEFA Cup Final. If they both win, then it's another toss up.

With the amount of games this season, I think they will all get playing time. To keep everyone happy will be impossible but the competition within the 4 strikers should be interesting.

also imagin if we are in a bit of trouble in a game, we could either make a double sub up top or bring on all 4 strikers like we did at middlesborough earlier in the season which must have been one of the games of the season.

Or rather like Boro in the 2nd leg of the QF and SF of the Uefa Cup. That's entertainment plus.

Just to have the option of a double Sub. up front will be freakin' awesome.

yeah it would be great

I don't think there should be a tandem whatsoever, what happened to playing on merit? So if Defoe was to play on form does that mean Mido has to play with him? I would have no hesitation on picking my 2 in-form players, be it Berbatov and Mido, Keane and Defoe or any combination..

But does anyone know if Mido is likely to be staying? good as he was for most of last season there were nasty rumoours about multiple injuries , weight gain and attitude. I hope its a smoke screen to bring the price down , if it is not I do not think MJ will want him around.

I wish I knew the situation. Unfortunately I have not read or heard anything officially. It's rather mysterious, to say the least.

Normally when it is so mysterious, there's something fishy.

One of the reports about Cole joining said that Spurs will not be taking up the option to but Mido. I don't know where that came from though?

i'm sure we would have done it by now if we wanted him. On his showing at the start of the season he looked well worth 5m. now the 1m being touted for carlton cole seems a bargain. If true it would also point to the reduced pricing scheme we might have with chelski lol. The problem with mido is his attitude has changed, and he looks like he's 10 years older than he is with regards to his fitness.

I million is certainly a good price. Even if he turns oout to be a complete bust, our loss will be minimal. I know we all canter for a top line player, but having Berbatov signed, it is unrealistic to expect another star name tall player as neither would be content to play second fiddle.

Cole will give us time to groom one or two of our younger players in Barnard, Hammy, Pekhart and Dixon.

Could be a bargaining ploy with Mido's agents / Roma perhaps?

I don't think so. Mido has left for good.

Welsh Spur

How do you know this? I have not had any reliable, TRUE source tell me that he's left. As far as I know he's still contracted till July 1, which means we'll definately know in the next month whether we have him for next season.

i definately think he has earned a spurs deal and i really hope we can sort one out for him.

He's not got a deal thats why he never played the last three games.

I don't think we'll see him again but i am disapointed the way Spurs have handled it and kept it so quiet. Why not tell us what they want?

Spur

I reckon once Mido goes back officially he will tell everything, obviously putting his own spin on it to make him look good. Hope Newcastle buy him, just what they need to piss Lee Bowyer off.

I thought we had an agreed price of 4 million at the start of his loan deal ? If that was indeed the case how can Roma now be asking for more than that as has been reported ?

I think we should sign him. Even 5 million is a steal for a player of his physiacal talents. The problem appears to be his attitude & is ability to gain weight very easily.

Welsh Spur

This is the problem, I don't understand what's goin on as I thought the fee to make a loan deal permanent was agreed as part of the loan agreement?

yer but i think roma were bought out or something and the new lot didn't want to agree to anything previous.

Welsh Spur

That's bullshit. A contract is a legal document, so they just disregarded it?!?!

I think Levy was acting on a gentleman's agreement instead of something black and white. As can be seen in recent affairs, where on earth can you find a trustworthy Italian in the football fraternity?

SharX
23rd May 2006, 01:52 PM
its always the case with these bastard Italian clubs, playing tough. i dont even think they need him. moreover, i reckon Mido is willing to go to any club in the premiership who can pay the price if Spurs dont close a deal. if any other premiership club makes a bid for him, i think Spurs will re-bid and top it. now that Newcastle have got Kuyt, i dont see any other team which need him and can pay the price. well just have to wait i suppose.

Much as we'd like Mido to stay, I'd almost guaruntee he's off. If not, something would have been said by now. And I don't think it's Roma's fault, I think if we wanted him bad enough we'd pay up what they wanted.

he's had an interview in Al Ahram, Egypt's most popular official newspaper, on 19th of May:

"I don't think I will continue with Spurs. There's a lot of issues with the club management about the money. I have recieved other serious offers from big clubs in England, Spain and Italy. I will reveal about them in about 2 weeks time."

then he said some crap about the fitness program he's doing now.

It's nice of him not to blast us when clearly he's not coming back; unlike many who would have a go at their former clubs. Perhaps that's a sign that we treat our players well. Same thing happened to Kanoute when he wasn't wanted.

Spur

I'm sure he will once he goes. And finds a new club too, otherwise no-one will want him.
