Reports today that Davids is considering going back to Holland and Ajax have been on the phone to MJ.

I say let him go, he was instrumental at the beginning of the season and has run the dressing the room but frankly after breaking his what's it has lost all ability to compete and make it the Premiership.

Say thank you very much Edgar and let Murphy start bossing things in the middle.

Agreed. Let him go, get him off the wage bill weve got more than adequate cover in midfield.

I guess I'd agree

The wage bill could probably the most important factor at keeping him at the club next season. Ajax can take Edgar, it was great having him here and I wouldn't mind him staying, but he is on a lot of money that could be better spent elsewhere.

Yeah, as much of a hero as he is he clearly doesn't cut it on the field anymore, and we can't be expected to pay his wages just to be good off the field for the rest of the team. He should probably go...

Yeah let him go back to Ajax.Done a great job for us but he is starting to look a bit tired.Done very well to gell our younger players together and gave them a bit more bite.Shame we didnt have him a couple of years earlier!

I'm absolutely gutted to say that he should be allowed to leave. Gutted.

If he gets some of the desire back I would let him stay, but if he wants to go then there is only one option.
Quite how much he would be missed in the dressing room and behind the scenes however we would have to wait and see....

Pity he can't be given a coaching role or something, i would imagine he still wants to play.

im going to have to disagree with the majority, stick my neck on the line and say we should keep him on the books. It look like Naybet and Bunje will be leaving at the end of the season and if Davids goes thats all our experienced heads gone. Im well aware of the value and necessity of youth but we need someone with Davids' experience and winnig mentality if we are to play in europe and try and break into the top 3/4 regularly. Even though i want to keep him at the club i would like to see him dropped as it looks like he cant manage an entire 90 minutes and hes getting a bit complacent. i think if we drop him he'll get his head down and start working like he did at the start of the season.

Let Edgar Davids go? I hope not and frankly I don't think he wants to move to another club again. I think he knows why he is at Spurs and I also think he knows he is not the same player as he was. I would think he would become a squad player next season, starting some games and being a sub for others. We have to keep people like him around, just look at what has happened to Keane since Davids punched him.

The only other thing I would say about Davids is he makes more mistakes than a lot of the midfield because he gets involved more. I wish Carrick and Jenas would chase the ball like he does.

Finally, Davids has almost signed for us twice before, maybe three times and when he did we all went nuts. The season is not over yet and I'm amazed to see people wanting to offload Davids before some of the trash we are carrying.

Fair point, the only thing I would say is that actually Davids is a liability at times - MJ seems to think he's too big a name to drop, or even sub. That means that we oftentimes need to replace him but don't, which is really frustrating. I remember the atmosphere at the Porto game, when we all spent 10 minutes forgetting the game and watching Davids warm up, it was fantastic. And to be fair to Davids, he is only human(!) I would rather he stayed, I just wish MJ could handle him - IMO if he can't then Davids should be allowed to leave for the sake of the team.

I agree Tom, but then recently Carrick has had a couple of games where his passing was not poor once or twice but almost every pass and Murphy is the ideal replacement and he never made the change.

I think Davids is like Jol on the field, I think he talks a lot and pushes the players to work harder and that can make a big difference.

I actually think Carrick is Jol's golden boy, every manager has one :)

remember he's only on a year deal with an option for another - If he wants to go back to Holland - let him, that's all I'm saying. He was quoted today as saying it was 50/50 decision - doesn't sound too committed to the long term ambitions we have. I'm not in any way doubting the influence and contribution he's made though

He is a living legend. And his name will live on on the back of my shirt forever. FOREVER I SAY!!!

Be honest, how many people here have got his name on the shirt???
