View Full Version : Central Midfield Debate

I am shocked that we have started the season with Zokora and Jenas as our first choice central midfield.

I know it has been said before but our competition for the top four spots reads like this in that position

ManUtd: Carrick, Hargreaves, Scholes, Anderson

Chels: Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Makelele, Mikel, Sidwell, Diarra

L'pool: Gerrard, Alonso, Leivia, Mascherano, Sissoko, Benayoun

Arse: Fabregas, Gilberto, Diaby, Denilson, Flamini, Song

very nearly every player above would get ahead of Zokora and Jenas IMO. Zokora has great energy and enthusiasm but the side will not progress with such a limited footballer in the centre of the park. He doesn't create, even simple passes go wrong, he also gets caught out defensively. He is not a thinker like Carrick was. It may be wrong to compare him to his predecessor but that is the man he was bought to replace and he has failed to that I think.
I believe that Tom Hudlestone would be a much better option for us now as our defensive mid. I know there are mobility issues but these can be worked on, you cannot teach a player to have a football brain and the Hudd has it. He is clever, creative and in a lot of ways is similar to Carrick. With Darren Bents pace the best player in our squad to play balls in behind defences and pick out his runs is Hudd by a mile. I see that today Jol played him ahead of Zokora and we ran riot, yes it was only Derby but still.
Jenas is a player who frustrates me. Blessed with abillity, pace and stamina he seems incapable of dominating games. He has the knack of making the easy look hard and the hard look easy. He had a stormer today however and hopefully he will get more consistent. Maybe the addition of KPB will spark him into some form of consistency.
Also I just wanted to say, ADEL TARAABT IS A LEGEND IN THE MAKING.

What a dick you are.

That is my first ever post.

If it is similar to a previous one then maybe thats because it is a valid point and that someone else feels similar.

LOL, mjb. Just because they have never posted before doesn't mean they haven't read all the recent threads!

How a nice greeting to a newbie instead laying into them, it's not as if they tore into Jenas.

Yesterday proved that, although against one of the weaker teams, Jenas and Huddlestone were a good combination. Now if we could just buy Huddlestone some of those trainers that all the kids are wearing with the wheels in we could make him a little more mobile!

LOL. I actually think Huddlestone should play every game, we are so much more creative with him.

to be honest i cant even remember who done the original thread i was merely havign a laugh and adding to the intrigue surrounding spurs at the mo, trust no one suspect everyone, somethings going on .

also re welcomes, nobody has said welcome to him/her yet so dont patronise me for not being nice . still nice to have another member with a zero sense of humour

I havent been scared away, though i do feel better now I know everyone thinks mjb is a ****.

Nice to see Jens Lehmann making a complete arse of himself this season (again).

Heres hoping it is a good time to be going to Old Trafford, or do we face the backlash that may be coming, similar to the one Derby faced on Sat.

Taarabt probably wont get a chance there, too much of a luxury, but I cant wait for that guy to become a regular, he is A proper Yid, the kind of player you pay to watch.
