Not sure if anyone else is bothered but I hope if we buy foreign players it is only because they are totally superb otherwise I don't see the point.

What I mean is, we want players we have all heard of and not players who are "supposed" to be good.

One thing I really love about Spurs right now is the UK based players unlike the gooners who are full of French and the like.

i dont care about the nationality of the players too much as long as they give 100% ala tainio. as long as we bring in some big names in the summer i dont care.

its not the names, its what theyll do for us that counts . with whats just gone on in Italian football (maybe they have their own Davido Deino) ,some of their players may soon be available very reasonably too .

id like to see more of Tom Huddlestone and Calum Davenport next season,

If you see my thread under "Supporting Other Teams in Europe", I'm very much for maintaining a balance of foreign and British players. Not that long ago, we were buying players with foreign names that were rubbish on the basis, it seemed, that if they were foreign, they were good (or cheap) I really don't want a team full of foreign players, well known or otherwise. I want to see a balance. We must maintain a good youth policy. What I've seen of Huddlestone this year I really liked.

I want us to but good, promising young players. If they happen to be English then it's a bonus. Established English players are well overpriced as well which is to be taken into consideration.

I think there should be a balance of foreign an british players. But I would like to see players coming in that have already proved that they can play in the premiership.

Yeah, I love the current British talent theme. I hate the idea of a team having so many foreigners and do believe there should be a limit!

There should be a limit, and I am proud that our team has a prominent English spine. I hope it is preserved.

the big problem with the premiership has been the reckless acquisition of really really cheap and bloody AWFUL foreign players.

now, we've also seen some amazing foreign players come to this country like gullit, klinsmann, zola, cantona, van nistelrooy, vialli, henry etc and these guys have really made the premiership a joy to watch. but these special players are outnumbered by the rank piles of crap (diouf, ricard, rebrov, berti, pederson, amokachi, ben haim, most of the players harry redknapp ever bought) that have been brought in on the cheap instead of investing in academies and lower division players.

we are now starting to see a few more clubs like spurs and middlesborough, among overs, investing in this approach and should all be praised for going in favour of young british players mixed with talented, 'special' foreigners. did man utd not win the CL this way?

you can almost see how some teams are going to progress in the coming years. i think teams like charlton, fulham, bolton etc are really going to struggle. bolton have been the worst imo and will soon start to suffer the effects of not investing in younger players and british players alike.

whereas boro, spurs, everton, citeh, man utd, liverpool, blackburn, west ham all have strong futures as they have a mix of good foreign players and younger british players either from the championship or their own academies.

Also Chelsea will be fine, having shed-loads of cash and poaching other clubs' youngsters!

Earlier there was talk about Uefa having a new rule to be brought about in phases requiring certain numbers of home-grown players. Is it still on?
