What the **** is wrong with ericsson??? how can he giva a call up for Walcott, when he has never played a match in the premiership + he has two quality strikers in Defoe and Bent...

But the swede derserves a bit of credit to for giving lennon the call up... The Kid truly derserves it..

looks like Lampard is going to be leading our attack from midfield

Its a complete joke. We just have to hope that owen & rooney make it, if not we'll be relying on Crouch, who's hardly prolific and a kid thats never played before.

A strike pairing of Crouch-Walcott is hardly frightening, but we'll all be singin a diff tune if Walcott does a 'Rooney' and rips the world stage. Right now Eriksson looks a complete tosser, so I can only for hope for the sake of the nation that his 'gamble' pays dividends....

How about Crouch and Lennon? With the former flicking on long thumps from Robbo and Jetheel Lennon running through to create one on ones. If it happens, it should scare the opposition stiff.

I just can't work out Ericksonn calling up Theo Walcott... I've heard people go on about himk having the same impact as Owen in 98 and Rooney 04... but they had both had 12 months+ prem experiance and both scoring goals...So they both had some sort of experiance...

But not taking Defoe or Bent... its madness, think back to Defoes only real chance with England ... what happens he destroys Polands defence and scores a cracker... and Bent top english striker this season (not including Rooney)

I wanted us to pair Mido and Lennon up front at some point. Any defender will tell you Lennon frightens the daylights out of them, his pace is awesome but his best asset is the change of direction at pace, defenders cannot handle being turned left and right in the space of half a yard. Just need the youn lad to improve his stamina and hope that his rare talent is coached too much.

Hey Spurs 61, we old timers seem to think alike as far as tactics is concerned. I'm also from the Doubles era. How we can do with a Greaves, Cliffy Jones and MacKay. We'll definitely win the Premiereship year after year if we can add these three to our current squad.

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment;) . I'm must admit that I'm only 27, it just FEELS like I've followed Spurs for that long ;) . Actually next season will be my 20th as a season ticket holder (same seat), however I'm the 3rd generation of my family to sit there (52 years) and was brought up on tales of Greaves, Blanchflower and Gilly and spent my formative years watching old footage from the double winning side.

I have to say that despite my misgivings, Defoe is the nearest thisng we've had the Greaves since, well Greaves, it's just a shame that he does n't have the professionalism to match his talent. You are quite right about adding a Jones and MacKay to the first team, we would then have a complete team capable of challenging. I see Gamst Pedersen as a modern day Jones, with his ability to support the frontmen whilst also terrorising the fullback. Sadly I don't think I will ever get to see players like Dave MacKay any more, players like that just don't exist anymore, can you imagine MacKay walking out of the Scottish World Cup squad because he didn't like the training pitches?! Incidentally, as you would have seen him play in the flesh, my Dad reckons we should get a Cyril Knowles type leftback? And does Jenas remind you of John White? Plays the game in an uncomplicated fashion and runs all day?

I agree with your dad about Nice Un Cyril, and perhaps add Pat Jennings there as well. Pedersen is nowhere near Jonesy who scored goals for fun and was much faster. Jenas cannot pass a killer ball like White did. Perhaps Davids a few years back could have been likened to MacKay though I would still think that our man Dave was much better with his 95mph shot.
This team will beat Barca.

Personally, I think Sven deserves some credit here. How could he not offer Walcott a fail-safe way of avoiding unwanted night-time visits from Wenger for a couple of weeks? He's just doing the decent thing and I'm sure Theo and his family are very grateful.

However, he also picked Rsol, which makes you wonder why he bothered with such altruism at all. Maybe Campbell is fatihful to Freddie and can therefore be trusted not to offer Theo any extra training sessions. Although fidelity and loyalty are not words one would usually associate with Campbellend...

The Sun is now saying Walcott should start !! FFS !!

Just goes to show you have the Wenger/Dein influence has infected the national coaching setup. I feel sorry for you blokes, all the talent in the world but a absolute imbecile in charge of the national team.

We're paying Hiddink 450,000 pa & you're paying the Swedish Dirk Diggler 4 million pa !!!

To be honest I think if you can get a quality manager in & with the young average age of your squad you should give the World Cup in 2010 a real shake. Unfortunately I can't see you getting past the quarter finals in Germany. Sven is tactically inept & often has poor team selections as he picks his favourites regardless of the form of others.

It all depends. The team (probably coz of the way the media portrays it) just seems superior with Rooney in it. It's probably the best all-round squad in the tournament. But Sven is brainless so unless McLaren can have a bigger influence as he's already involved and is taking over, the players seem to think he's one of the best so this world cup is his first (unofficial) chance to show us what's to come...
