He seems like blood good prospect and he has a great record.
Berbatov has scored 32 goals in 47 appearances for his country, after making his debut at 18 in 1999.

He scored five times in a UEFA Cup qualifying round thumping match against Constructorul for former club CSKA before joining the Germans for £1.2 million.

Berbatov has struck 20 goals in 33 games this season after getting 21 from the same number last season.

I Know, I know! And yeah he looks pretty good. Great stats too! We'll see what happens. The next chapter is of course all the speculation in the transfer market and with the world cup it will be frantic this year. We'll be linked with everyone.

trying to find out if he played for bulgaria against japan last night, can't find anything yet. Some 4 team tourno with scotland going on in japan. I do know from levekusen site he is 6ft 2". Also leverkusen finished 5th in their league so no champs league for them either.

Hmm, but many would prefer Dirky, right?

Welsh Spur
9th May 2006, 11:53 AM
I'm undecided, Berbatov definately has impressive stats, but our previous foray into the market for an Eastern player resulted in a gigantic waste of 11million big ones....

I know as much about Berby as i do Kuyt, so I'm just gonna sit back and watch.

SurreySpur
9th May 2006, 11:53 AM
I'd prefer Berbatov. Ive seen Kujt play a few times and he doesn't look anything special. Whatever striker(s) we end up need to have EURO experience.

shoot_ffs
9th May 2006, 12:17 PM
i can now confirm berbatov did not play or bench warm against japan in the kirin cup. they play scotland on the 11th may which is being shown on scottish bbc apparently. Bulgaria did not qualify for world cup so i guess he is free to sort his transfer dealings out whenever he likes.

Yeah, there are a lot of reports floating around that comolli is in germany as we speak and a deal could be struck within 48hrs. Apperently Ronnie Rosenthal was with comolli, in his new role as football agent.

Hmm, but many would prefer Dirky, right?

I would prefer Kuiyt, think Berbatov might be lightweight in the Posiga model, but I'd take a gamble if he was less than £8mil. (How ridiculous is that, £8mil no longer guarentees you a goalscorer).

I'd also be considering selling Defoe, although I'd wait and see if he goes to Germany and what he does. I'd bring in Bellamy who, despite his personality problems, gives 100% all game every game, he scores a few as well. He is alos capable of filling on the left if needed and has european experience - £10to 15 mil for Defoe and £6-mil for Bellamy, sounds like good business to me!

Now that McLaren (Tom?) has been appointed England coach/manager/arse wiper, it's a good time to go after Downing who had a disappointing season by the standards he set last year but with the potential to star at the World Cup a cheeky bid now may make sense.

Yeah im with you on the downing thing. He'd fit in perfectly, only thing that worries me is he seems a little injury prone.

To buy kyut , mido and downing .
Sell defoe , lee and let naybet go.
That would do!!!
Might do well to keep jol. Well holland are favourites and as usual will hit the self destruct button- van basten gets sacked . then they after the best dutch coach!!!!

It has to be Kyut for me. Tony Soprano knows him well from holland and he's been after him for ages, TRUST TONY! fu@k it lets ave berbatov aswell just to stop the gooners getting him.

Any news on Carrick link with man u? Papers said he might be keen, hope they're wrong! CSWY

Who knows about carrick! If we stayed in CL then he would have stayed but if goes and has a good world cup who knows. I would be gutted if we sold him for 100 million never mind 10 million.

from what i saw of the video (couldnt be bothered to watch it all, was far to glitchy) he looks very similar to Van Nistelrooy in that he's more of a goal snatcher and could turn out to be a great player for us. i definately think we should sign him

it's only about 3 minutes long and he scores a real peach near the end sort of like Keano vs Blackburn

From what I can make of the video, he would play best with quick build-ups. The way our midfield plays, at snail pace, he may not get the open chances.

Not sure if this is a blessing in disguise as that could possibly mean Henry is on his way out???

so when his agent says he will make an announcement in July, I'm presuming he means that they are waiting till after the World cup to see if he attracts any other interest?

When does the transfer window officially open?

it never properly closes...officially

clubs do all sorts of dodgy, secret deals and pre-contracts and then register it in the windows because they have so many loop holes.

its quite pointless really.

also, according to every non-official source in bulgaria and germany, he's a spur already.

12th May 2006, 12:44 PM
well i hope so. for what it's worth bulgaria didn't qualify for the world cup, so the fact that we got in early means we've either convinced him or worked out from his hesitation that he might fancy something else. Atleast we can switch targets without waiting til the end of the world cup. lets hope he's the business.

also bayer have their last game of the season tomorrow so lets hope he stays injury free.

Hope he has already signed a pre-contract before going out in style with a hattrick. Otherwise that might just be the catalyst for Manure to pay 12 million for him.

bit worried about this three year thing, hope it's like keane's so there is a further option to prolong or sell. Can't pay 10m for someone for 3 years for christs sake.
It's all very well us progressing and thinking we are gonna be the new liverpool, but our ground capacity is gonna screw our wage structure in the next few years.

How right you are it is the one single thing that will hold us back 36000 is not enough for where we all want the spurs to be.
The initial plan to redevelop the West Stand will put another !0000 on the gate & along with the boxes would more than pay for itself. All the talk about new transport links should not hold the board back & to keep the best players we have let alone buy world class alternatives is not going to happen on sell out gates of 36000 no matter how much they put up the ticket prices.
