For a team that doesn't have a left back, a left winger and at one point couldn't win an away game for toffee (no pun intend everton fans) in fact win a game for ages b4 xmas we've finished 5th.

Fair play to the lads and here's looking forward to next season lets hope we get off to a flier on and upwards

COYS!!

P.S Well done Fat Boy Jewell and wigan

I love Dave Whelan!! The first thing he said in his interview was that he felt bad for Sheffield United and that it isn't fair that West Ham have survived! Top man! Great bloke!

Dave Whelan is not a Top Man or a Great Bloke. He's a cock that thinks the world revolves around him and his little shitty club. He's an arsehole.

dont know much about the guy , except he is a fan of his club , always has been and always will be , and stuck his money where his mouth is in building the club up , and they are now punching above their weight .

so fair play to him in the world of corporate take overs, foreign investment raiders picking and choosing between clubs then coming out with the bollox that they have always been fans .

as regards any comments leading up to the last game , and any subsequent comments regarding the west ham situation , and wether he would take legal action if necessary , then even though it smacks a little of desperation , you would want our chairman to fight tooth and nail as well if we ever gfot in that situatution .

would be nice if Fulham and Charlton still joined forces with them (wigan ,sheff u)as they were saying they all would fight together. now only two are going down, lets hope the other two stay in the fight and i think legally they have every right to win the battle, certainly morally they do, i still feel Liverpool should have some punishment too for playing Mascherano when they know hes not bonafide .
Surrey Spur if anythings shitty its the premier league's morales rules and the way its run, they could learn a lot from Dave Whelan but then i doubt theyd take anything on board.
Liverpools weakened teams letting struggling teams off the hook, ditto Man U, at least Chelsea put out a full strength squad to get us 5th ,I have to hope Milan and Chelsea win the cups just to punish Man U and (especially)Liverpool .
yesterday at Old Trafford stunk of favours for your mate (fergie/Curbishley)

anyway back to the thread, yeh we had a crap start then had a great run before Xmas , then a bad run with big losses to Man u and Sheff U then a mediocre time and finished off well enough. only 6 pts off 4th tho ok Liverpool and scum foot off gas somewhat but we need more belief and more consistency in each match and throughout the season

Whelan seems more determined to help in the cause now that he has survived and Sheff U have not.

Dave Whelan is a decent Northern bloke, whose made his own money, sticks up for his part of the world, is a local hero, and hates southerners.

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm originally from the south, and support Spurs, I'd completely agree with him on that.

Listening to Dave Whelan on SSN, Jewells health was suffering and he also let slip that Jewell was having problems at home!.Chris Hutchings is the new manager.

No, he's not. From Bradford he went on to Sheff Wednesday, a step up at that stage, but that didn't work out due to poor senior management at the club. He's been at Wigan for 6 years and is obviously anticipating a similar struggle next season. They have extreme difficulties in attracting supporters and players. A number of key players left and others were wanting to follow. You could see the strain taking it's effect in the last few months. He's been having regular outbursts at officials since the Arsenal away game and yesterday launched a volley at the 4th official. I'd say they're favourites to go down next season.

Wigan are defo favourites to go down now jrio. There's not another team that will struggle as badly. you've got to say Brum and Sunderland are in a much, much better position than them.

Good news is Baines will be off pretty soon too then, wonder who needs a left back?

How was Sheff Wed a step up? They had just gone down! Twice he has left after staging dramatic escapes, it's like a calling card, health problems is understandable, but otherwise, I just don't get it.

You're kidding, right? You don't think Weds have massively more potential than Bradford? Trevor Francis got them to 3rd and 2 domestic finals in a season - do you think that could have been done at Bradford when they were in the Prem? Look at the infrastructure, support and history at Weds. They were probably the biggest club in Yorkshire until Revie transformed Leeds.

Ginola's Son

Not many managers will drop a division. No matter what the club. The Prem is the place to be, that's why I reiterate that Jewell is an oddball, my money's on that he'll manage Doncaster or someone.

i like jewell , think he has made the right move and despite whelans money , he will never have the fan base or history at wigan to attract the players to really take them forward . as it is he leaves on a relative high note with his reputation unblemished .
i also believe he is quite an honest guy , and does need a break from football for a couple of months , so i would be surprised if he was announced city manager .can see him coming back in january .

pearce going from man city , well no surprise there , as much as i respected him as a player and a bloke , he doesnt seem to have what it takes yet at the top level , he should go and learn his trade better . you only have to look at the discipline within his squad to see that it wasnt woirking ,and 10 home goals is dreadful.

big sam , well guess newcastle is a done deal , he can have no excuses now , the money will be there , the fan base there , stadium etc , all the things that were holding him back at bolton , good move for both parties /

coleman , another honest manager would like to see him back soon , thought he was held back by fulhams transfer policy , outside chance to get the man city job.

i am told warnock hasnt signed his new contract at sheff utd yet and maybe on his way , i dont see him ever destined to manage a top club though he is good entertainment value .

also rumours about mark hughes resigning from blackburn , if it wasnt for his utd connection think he would be perfect for city , though it seem the press are touting ranieri (spe)

Your looking at a foreigner for the City job.

Has Sven taken the job in Ukraine yet? Maybe a good outside bet of becoming the Thai's first choice.

As much as i've tried I can't find any odds for the Citeh job. Any job for that matter.

Warnock has come out today saying he wants to stay in the Premiership, and that the fact that they've been relegated means he's got alot to think about. Sean Bean came out and slagged him off after the Wigan game, and he's getting stick from a few blades fans online too.As for Citeh, they've been linked with Van Gaal and Koeman.

Warnock wants to be in the Premiership? I don't blame him. He stayed at Sheff U for years, rejecting all offers until he got them up, and when he did, he was robbed of survival.
