we'll brick it same as we did last season but get a draw , i think some other results will go our way anyway and perhaps give us 5th anyway

I think 5th is gone now, but if we play like we give a crap and actually concentrate on our play in the final 3rd we'll still get UEFA.

We have no creativity in the centre of the park at all we need to buy a playmaker because i cant see tainio or zokora unlocking defences we were shite until keano came on and changed the game.

We always shit it when we NEED to win so im not expecting anything to change........yes boys i know its all doom and gloom but hey thats what im used to :(

Il be amazed if we dont get 6th or 5th, i think we could even lose the game on sunday coz the other teams around us are likely to drop points, the fixtures we need to look at are:
Blackburn v Reading (Blackbrun Win)
Bolton v Aston Villa (Draw)
Chelsea v Everton (Chelski Win)
Portsmouth v Arsenal (Draw)

so to be honest i reckon we will whipe the floor with city coz they suck, but even if for some strange reason we lose at the lane im sure we will still qualify, COYS

W dont need to look at portsmouth now because they are 4points behind us. In my opinion the only game we need to keep an eye on is Blackburn V Reading.

Seriously?!?! Jesus Christ man. I don't post much anymore but when I do it takes something to get me typing - and this post really got under my skin.

How in the ****ing world is 5th gone? I predicted 5th with 3 games left and the results i predicted were Charlton win, Blackburn draw and Man City win, which would get us 5th. Chelsea should beat Everton, but I think the scousers could snatch a draw.

Hell, even if we draw with City 5th could still be on if Villa get a result at Bolton. Have faith for ****'s sake man.

Spurs for 5th - mark my words.

Oh I almost forgot - Spurs 3 Man City 0

Berbatov, Keane and Zokora to finally find the net.

I agree why are people doubting us getting fifth!...Blackburn are a better side who had a lot to play for last night...Man City wont have their two best players in Richards and Barton...this has 2-0 written all over it...everton may sneak a draw but I have no doubt we'll win...start keano with Berby and its in the bag..

Gino Ginelli
11th May 2007, 12:53 PM
Did you see how apathetic we played last night? Honestly I wouldn't be the slightest bit suprised if we ****ed it on the last day. Good god let's hope I'm wrong but it's happened before a million times and it could easily happen again.

And do you think Chelsea give a shit about playing first teamers with the FA Cup Final coming?

jrio
11th May 2007, 01:18 PM
I'm not sure where all this pessimism is coming from but the last day favours us so well that we'd have literally fail to turn up to not get 5th. Here's the situation:

Chelsea may well play second-string players just to avoid a defeat and Everton could force a draw. That would mean Spurs needing a win to finish above them. City have got a number of wins away from home in the last few months but are without their leading goal scorer. A large number of their squad will be leaving in the summer, including several players likely to appear on Sunday. It may even be their manager's last game. Spurs have everything to play for, reminiscent of last season at home to Bolton. Spurs may have been poor yesterday but City are unlikely to offer the same level of resilience and plain cynical tactics as Blackburn. A draw guarantees 6th, even 5th if Everton lose. Bolton could only draw level with us and have a GD inferior to ours by 7 goals.

confident we are going to score 4 tomorrow. not sure how many we will concede though all though we will get 3 points and get 5th in the table. everton won't get zip at chelski as they will be looking to get the record the most home games without defeat and if chelski do play the stiffs they will be looking to get a place on the judy dench for the cup final.

Not a bad line up for last game of the season .. Gardner has surprised me as to how well he has done at left back as a stand in .. long may it last .. well at least 95 minutes longer !!

Anyway feel good for this one and a great chance for one of our strikers to get the first hat trick of the season.

So after all the ups and downs of the season we finished 5th for the second season running.

59 games this year compared to 40 odd last year, 2 quarter finals and a semi final.

Progression? I think so, we had some bad patches in the league and could of got more points to finish closer to 4th or even taken 4th.

Next year depends on who we sign and hold onto, hopefully no one will leave as we have the start of a good team again just need those left sided players.

Shuggie13
13th May 2007, 05:04 PM

5th place, certainly wasn't expecting it a few weeks back. So back to the drawing board in the summer, get a good few quality players in to replace some that aren't good enough and BAM, next season we're in 4th and laughing at a young Arsenal team struggling to get 7th.

I'm looking forward to a summer of changes, takeovers, and lawsuits. The main thing is those changes to our playing staff of course, and I can't wait to see what we pull out the bag, hopefully starting on Monday. I'm very impatient with this sort of thing.

Agreed, My father in Law is a Spammer and he's acting like they ****ing earned it!!! Tevez should never have been allowed to play the remainder of the season, the fact that he has gone on to be the difference in so many games is absolutley sickening.

EUROPE!! Great feeling to qualify again and I think this answers all the anti-Jol critics perfectly! We have matched last seasons finish and had respectable runs in the cups, we had a huge amount of games and only really let ourselves down for a spell at the start of the year, other than that we have played thrilling, probing football and I've been very excited by it. We still have many things to do to the team, set-piece defending MUST improve, closing down space, closing OUT games, playing for 90 mins instead of 45...all this must improve.

But I'm happy with another European campaign on the horizon.

Well after my doom and gloom fears that we'd mess it all up at then end, I'm relieved to see us finish 5th for 2nd season running, after what I've seen as a season of varying adversity (congested fixture list, 3 cup competitions, new players needing to gel) so in the end i see us as having overcome all those obstacles and standing proud and triumphant at the end of it all.

As ever though we did our best to make it hard for ourselves, we could have easily lost that, and to a better team we probably would have. But Man City's 1 up front approach allowed us to play very comfortably, and for most of the game we played some very good stuff. Almost everyone played well, including Jenas who's distribution was accomplished, his running productive, and his tackling important, with a good chipped ball for Robbie to score from. I have a feeling his going to finally come into his own next season.

Lennon was almost back to his sprightly self, a summer of passing and shooting training wouldn't go amiss however. Zokora is going to be immense next year, as he was all over yesterday. The back two were as good as ever, but went alarmingly absent for Mpenza's headed goal. I realise Chimbo was tracking him, and failed to jump, but it really should be one of the big CB's getting that.

Anyway, here's to a summer of exciting transfer speculation, and a new season of UEFA cup success, a team with Berba, Lennon, Keano, Zokora, Dawson, King et al plus a few new excellent signings; Please, please MGP, Heinze and Tevez.
