robbo,s long punts upfield, to the opposition

jenas,s nack of giving the ball away, and general non contribution to the team

keane,s ability to miss easy chances, and looking liteweight upfront,

defoe on the bench, coming on and missing easy chances.

Conceding Goals And Corners All The Time???

I mean the thing that's cost us the most is not scoring enough and conceding too many.

We just look easy to beat. General lack of interest seems quite bad as well. Simple things, not being able to pass, poor touches, lack of runs we just don't seem bothered.

Ledley's Injuries have cost us and inexperience in big games, other than that things look good for the future, if we can keep our top players from going to other clubs.

not having that winning attitude that Man U and Chelsea seem to have in abundance. Looking at our squad, how many players have actually won something in their careers??

Set-pieces-both conceeding, and scoring from.

Its very simple - conceding way too many from bad defending..we are actually 5th in terms of goals scored - it isn;t that..its been shocking defending (the whole team) and this psychological vodoo we have ie...sitting back on leads...raising our game when we go behind..time and time again it happens..and maybe just a bit of Jol being more reactive than proactive..

i think the general absence of a left foot has been huge in us not challenging higher up the league

how about Robbo conceding too many?? yes he is a top stopper, and yes our defense was shit and injured most of the time but still he made too many mistakes, especially early in the season.

out of the options i put down jenas inability to find a white shirt from 10 paces , but i think its a few things .

firstly we havent got a dominant figure in the midfield with the passion and drive to take the game by the scruff of the neck (or to take some of our players by the scruff of the neck ) coupled with an ability to pass to our own , which was davids failing.

zak doing the work of two men when jenas is playing , thereby leaving our cover just in front of the back 4 non -existant and us therefore getting overrun by anyone with the passing ability of fabrigas

our inability to hit the target from range causing the opposition goalie to at least have to make a save (see jenas free kicks , zakoras shooting )

defending set peices , though this does mystify me to a degree . in dawson , king and chimbonda , i think we have 3 excellent defenders , all with good ability in the air , so i would have to put the blame down to the support they get from the midfield and on saturday rocha , and down to robbo not being that dominating a goalie especially of late .

to sum up MIDFIELD not fecking good enough , may seem obvious but get rid of jenas , tanio , murphy , and i know it may sound traitorous , and may get burned at the stake for saying this , if the right price came in (20m +) i would be very tempted to sell off lennon

to sum up MIDFIELD not fecking good enough

In a nutshell that is it. Aside from both lack of scoring and conceding from set-pieces, and lack of scoring and conceding from long shots the midfield is where the blame lies.

We've seen the strikers win us games on their own, with some lovely touch and go football, but the midfield are too easy to walk or pass through and don't give the defence enough cover, whilst at the same time being totally ineffective going forward.

well obviously im for upgrading what we got , not just letting them go without better replacements .

To be fair, they're all aspect of our game that have let us down, and I subsequantly ticked all four!

Sell off lennon?!!!..I bet your wern't having these thoughts after the chelsea win in November!...seriously though he's still young and learning the game and has played a lot of games...he's look tired recently and his form has dipped but is still, or at least should be, and integral part of our plans and development...why sell him and let someone else profit when he develops into a world class player..he's one of the most exciting players in the league on his day..he will get better and better...whats the point in selling our best players if we want to continue to progress and develop as a side...just cant see were you coming from on this at all...sounds like you want us to be a feeder/selling club and ripping apart promising foundations to start all over again doesn't sound like steady progress to me..

Gotta feel sorry for Murphy. He hasn't played for over 3 months and he's getting as big a slagging for midfield deficiencies as JJ and Tainio!

yeah i know it sounds a bit fecked up , and i quite expected to be criticised for even suggesting it , but i have put my thoughts on why , in a seperate thread under the players forum .

yeah i do actually , when he was at pool he seemed to have a half decent footballing brain and played with a bit of composure in an often all too frenetic premiership . but he seems to have gone backwards ( i know he hasnt had many chances for us ) , he is not in jols plans and seems best for all concerned to leave and get a game in a mid to lower table team

I think you should have included "Jol's tactics" as an option.
