Darren anderton has been released by wolves,is this the end of his injury plagued career,i for one think hes a spurs legend and was without doubt the best right footed crosser of a ball until beckham came along, best of luck dazza COYS

Couldn't agree more. A very under rated player who never scaled the heights he should have, had he completed his move to Old Trafford in the late 90's he surely would have been regarded as a great player, far more talented and with better vision than Beckham, shame he was broken all the time.
Has anyone else noticed the one constant at Spurs for the past twenty years, namely we always have a top class right winger; Waddle was succeded by Anderton and he has been replaced by Mr Lennon. The other constant is that in the same time frame we've not had a decent left winger (Ginola accepted)?!

Yeah Darren Anderton was a quality player who was ridiculed by the press and other fans unfairly for his injury proneness. He never let us or England down and always lead by example, we'll all remember his stunner against Leeds and his goal at highbury. I'm sure there will be a queue of clubs willing to offer him another year or two in the championship.

yep, couldnt agree more i think he was superb for us when he played and i seem to remember him having a very prolific season in his last season with us. i hope his playing days continue, hopefully with my 2nd team Oxford Utd although we could be playing in the conference next season.

And we had Peter Taylor in the 70s.

Anderton was a class act on his day, not quite a legend but definatly a player that we'll remember for a long while.

Anderton was indeed a class act and he repaid the loyalty Spurs showed him through his well-documented injuries by staying with us through thick and thin. Granted, he never got the chance to set the Premiership alight, but lest we forget how well he played for England in Euro 96..
By all accounts he was a lovely bloke too. I hope I am not alone amongst Spurs fans in wishing him all the very best for the future.

I always rated the guy aswell. Even through the injuries he was never afraid to get stuck in. He always worked his tits off in everygame i saw him play.

Nah! I saw plenty of games where he wandered aimlessly around the pitch but he was one of those guys that did a couple of magical things in a game that could make a difference. i met him once and he was a real quiet bloke.
Good luck to him.

anderton always turned up to play even if he was only 90% fit ( quite regular ) Although if the world cup/ euros were every year I don't think he would ever have been injured. Still he left it out on the pitch when played and played for the shirt. I wish him every success.
