Talk about the game in here before, during and after

Spur
28th February 2007, 02:15 PM
Usually i'm quite wary of these games.

Not this time. West Ham for the drop no question. This will be another game they don't even bother turning up. The Spurs of a month ago would have walked this.

Chewy
28th February 2007, 02:29 PM
Must win game. I'll go for a 2-0. Berbatov to get both seeing as he is full of confidence after all the praise since the bolton match!

olly27
28th February 2007, 02:31 PM
Well it looks like they will be without Upson and Neil. Bowyer will return for them and Ashton is still a few weeks away. I am going for 2-0 to spurs...Berby and Defoe on the score sheet..:)

Chewy
28th February 2007, 02:33 PM
Apparently Neil is expected to be fit.

olly27
28th February 2007, 02:37 PM
I read he was most likely to make his come back against his former club Blackburn on the 17th March...along with Upson and Ashton..

jrio
28th February 2007, 05:49 PM
Ashton was meant to be a desperate fling of the dice against us on Sunday but that's imploded. Neill and Upson didn't look as though they were only a week away so it really should be a fill your boots day for us. Davenport looked hopeless against Charlton in letting Thomas run 30 yards to have a shot in the area. Anything less than a 2 goal margin I will count as a defeat.:D

I predict a high score again, 0-5 ( Berbatov hat-trick, Jenas and Dawson).

highlander
28th February 2007, 07:08 PM
even if they are at the bottom of the table and they have the 2nd half of the season specialist Curbs in charge it will still be a tough match at Upton Park. but it is the last 10 games where we need 2 put a good run together if we are to mount a serious challenge to the top 6. after the relative demolition of Bolton we will be high on confidence, ill go for a 3-1 win (Mido, Berba & Defoe to score)

Spur
28th February 2007, 08:53 PM
they have the 2nd half of the season specialist Curbs in charge

You being sarcastic?

Curb's second half of seasons generally involve dropping place after place, further and further down the table!

when they met us a WHL i thought that they would pose a threat to us, but they were the worst team i had seen! at upton parkistan i still have this fear that they will raise there so called game (as it is us) but if we play like we did against the trotters and we score 1st then i think it's floodgate time!

I predict a riot as well, with a "Robbie Robbie Robbie!!"

(Disclaimer: I realise Keano is out but that's the only other tenuous link I have to another Kaiser Chiefs song.)

Another 4 goal riot from us, with Defoe, Jenas and Berba getting getting two.

suBerb
1st March 2007, 11:27 AM
I think Mido will start. Berba has to be fresh for the Braga and Chelski games (which seem to be more important). If we beat West Ham, they will have no chance to escape relegation. They threw us out of the CL. We can throw them out of the league. :p

Spur
1st March 2007, 02:48 PM
They threw us out of the CL. We can throw them out of the league. :p

And thats the quote I shall be using for the next few seasons whilst they are struggling to stay in Division Two.

Welsh Spur
1st March 2007, 03:17 PM
I just hope the lads are up for it. We'd be in the CL this season (probably not at this stage of the season though - which is why it's better we went into the UEFA) if it wasn't for these ****s, and now we've got the chance so send back where they belong. As well as the very likely possibility that Reading and Portsmouth, both above us, will lose to Arsenal and Chelsea this weekend. COYS!!!!!!!!

We should be confident considering our run of form, but I'm not taking them lightly, despite how poor they are. We have often lost to relegation teams and we must make sure that doesn't happen this time. I hope Rocha starts.

jrio
2nd March 2007, 12:41 PM
If Spurs don't blitz this, every single player should be shot. In the head. The coaching staff will have to self-administer cyanide. Every fan should quit supporting the club and either join a monastery or renounce all footballing pursuits. Alternatively, engage in a mass suicide off Beachy Head. WHL should then be razed to the ground and a car park built upon it.

Put simply, West Ham are in pieces and this is a fantastic opportunity to utterly destroy them. I remember attending our second game at home against them in 1981(first game 3-1 away to Boro so things looking very sound) when we were without Hoddle, Ardiles, Villa, Crooks etc through injury and were hammered 4-0 with David Cross scoring all 4(remember him!). Now, I've seen us devastate them under Pleat 5-0(a truly awesome display) at WHL but how about a real spanking at the home of the only club side to win the World Cup! It's there on a plate! I may make a slight concession for Defoe playing in place of Keane as he is likely to pursue his own personal vendetta to the detriment of the team.

Injuries ahead of West Ham game:

Malbranque, Ekotto, King and Murphy are definately out.

Chimbonda, Zokora and Jenas are going to have late fitness tests.

If none of these players can play then I would go with

Robbo
Stalteri Dawson Rocha Lee
Lennon Huddlestone Tainio Ghaly
Defoe Berbatov

Let's not forget that WHam beat Man U and Arsenal earlier this season.

Beat Arsenal under Pardew and after ManU proceeded to never win another game and get roundly hammered in quite a few.

Btw Chewy, Stalteri? Are you havin' a laff? Is he havin' a laff?

Also it seems their new 'stars' are going to start a.k.a Boa Marte, Neill and Upson. I pray chimbonda is fit, we have enough depth in mid-field to deal with their mid-field but we have no depth in defence with the current injuries.

Everton draw. Portsmouth and Reading lose. These results make this game even more important! A win tomorrow and we go 8th with just 1 point of 6th.

YEH i was actually gutted reading lost cos i think arsenal may screw up a few times and we may have been able to catch them esp as we have a chance to beat them maybe at WHL and im certain theyve still gotta play both scousers away, chelski at home penultimate game of season, barcodes away ,pompey away last game of season so opportunity for them to slip up

as there is for us tho it should (hahahaha) only be away to chelsea (lets say it depends on who the ref is shall we :p )

be nice to at least make them shit their pants a bit tho it will then be a shame that once again we had a piss poor Jan/Feb

I think we should not get complacent. The Spammers need to turn their season around and fast, and will see todays game against one of their biggest rivals as a massive chance to do so. They'll want to at least give their fans something to cheer about, and we will need to approach this game with caution.

Of all the games this season surely this is the one that the players would have wanted to win most considering what happened on the now infamous last day of last season.

Berbatov is the only player showing any desire!! Yet again Defoe is being a lazy, selfish waste of a striker!!

After watching that first half its easy to be neagative but hings can only get better, if we get an early breakthrough we can still get something from this game.

Berby had a couple of chances in the first half that he should of buried and their defence dosnt look that solid, it all depends how it goes in the next 15 mins.

JM_
4th March 2007, 04:56 PM
This is what Jol has to do:
- Give Ghaly a one-way ticket to Afghanistan
- Move Lennon to the right, to give Konchesky a nightmare
- Tainio to the left, give Taarabt a chance after 65 if nothing good comes out of it.
- Huddlestone in the middle

After this we will have 3 points in the bag!

Spot on

I knew this would happen. Always muggins Spurs that have to lose to shit like WH. And let the Argie get his first goal to boot

Ghaly needs to be kicked out of our club and fast. Mark Noble's head needs to be kicked in ASAP cos he's getting annoying with his face. Robert Green is pulling off some astonishing saves. Bastard.

We just seem our usual 'lacklustre in away games' selves and we can't handle WH's sudden passion for football that they havent shown all ****ing season, but have to now cos its us and we just *have* to be embarrased.

highlander
4th March 2007, 04:57 PM
Jol really needs to earn his money today. if he gets the teamtalk right we can get at them quickly after the whistle and we need to get a quick goal to open the game back up again.

to be honest i cant see us getting back into it if we persist with Lennon on the left. Jenas & Defoe need a kick up the arse

Ginola's Son
4th March 2007, 04:58 PM

Mate, I have been saying that all ****ing season!!

but no-one on here seems to understand, so i will say it again 3 shots on target 2 goals this happens almost every match. Its either every team is deadly as **** against us or we have a shit keeper!!

Can someone on here please find some statistics for the amount of goals/shots we concede because I am 100% certain ours is highest in the league. And also has Robinson actually saved a shot from outside the box this season??

yeh great result now its all over and a tremendous matcvh to watch.

But once again we didnt really start playing til we were well behind (2-0) apart from the opening chances, and then we lost the momentum once we'd equalised and alloweed Wham back into it like we have done soooo many times this last season that lessons still have not been learnt.
You could see Wham were gonna get the 'winner' and until they did we seemed happy with clawing back to 2-2 , thankfully WHam scored the third and woke us up again. Now im sorry but MJ keeps letting this happen , we have the players with the knowledge and skills to wipe shit like Wham off the park , lets be honest we only won it cos Wham were all out for the win and we broke away it wasnt cos we were going hell for leather for the three points. i still feel this apsect needs to improve hugely and too many feeble excuses have come out this season. we want 3 points every game, but at 2-2 we seemed happy with the point and bearing in mind the opposition and their vulnerability it was despicable.
Arsenal Man U Chelsea Liverpool wouldnt have lost the initiative , ok we aint them but we are a lot closer to being them than we seem to belive.

That was one of the best second halves of football I've ever seen! I have lost my voice through screaming. I'd have taken 3-3, but to NICK IT like that, well we ****ING well deserve it after some of our results this term! ****ing awesome! Berbatov is a god! Taraabt great debut winning that free-kick and I'll just mention my new god figure Stalteri again!

I had sex with a girl that broke it off with me a week ago on friday and in this victory i felt such euphoria that it may have encompassed that!!if only spurs played like this at the start of the season.
taraabt looked like a cheeky winger and wouldnt mind lennon and him on the flanks.
jenas and ghaly looked disappointing but they deserve another chance.
defoe seems very ineffective holding possession unlike keane and thought mido should have come on.
tony gardner could have done better today as well in some occasions but he's never gonna be as assured as king or dawson.
lee pyo had another good game considering the strong lads he was playing against and thought taino was the key battler in the game.
berbatov is a Godlike genius and hope chelsea and manu dont really watch him closely. Cannot remember such a good come back from spurs like that as usually we are on the recieving end!!!

LOVE THE SPURS, LOVE LIFE!

yeh great result now its all over and a tremendous matcvh to watch.

Brilliant post mate, just saved me 10 mins writing the exact same thing ;)

I actually don't remember him putting a foot wrong, he wasn't outstanding and it wan't one of his better games, but Keane is as much of a luxury as Defoe is.

The goal was a penalty, 90% of the players on the pitch could of scored it so therefore I don't see that as anything special. His assist was an error from green, it was not intended to be an assist.

I don't mind when he has the odd bad game because everybody has them but hes lazy - thats what pisses me off. Even when Keane has bad games, his work rate is amazing.

Still had to put the ball where he did for Green to slip up though...He hit that straight from the textbook where many others wouldn't. I don't see how anyone can say he had a bad game today at all. He was constantly pressing as well, definately not his lazy self.

"Easy Chewy, easy" (Han Solo voice).

Defoe was very good yesterday. He was making himself available, fighting for possesion. He made a great run for the offside that wasn't (when it was 1-0). He was composed for the penalty. For the winner, as Spur pointed out, he wasn't going to score from that angle, but placed it in the one place that would cause Green a problem.

Defoe yesterday was not the Defoe of before coming into the side, frustrasted, head down and not performing. He did a great job.

well, well, well... Just about come back to earth now!! I feel clensed now after what happend last season!! It makes such a difference to be involved in a "classic" and actually come out winning.

What made it a classic was the fact that it wasn't a perfect performance by either team, it was a true london derby (like going back to the old days)

I have this thing about relegation - damning teams to it as a certainty just breaks my heart. Having said that, their fans took great satisfaction in denying us CL football last season, so i'm enjoying our win. Tarrabt was, i'd say, one the best last-few-minutes debuts i've seen!

You make some good points.

But what about the people that laugh at our expense? Why is it always Spurs that have to suffer? We lose the CL place to Arsenal after losing to West Ham, We suffer two big defeats to Arse this season. Yes, everyone in London was laughing. Well he had a chance to hit back at one of them, and we damn well took it.

WH loved the fact that they denied a fellow London club a CL place, so we're gonna love sending them down. If they were more humble about it at the time and conducted themselves better, then maybe we'd feel for them a bit.

Actually dissecting the game is pointless, because it was just a crazy london derby

I came back in and the Wife was waiting to tell me we'd one 4-3. So I basically proved what I suspected all along. If I watch the games then we're shite; If I don't watch we win!

Think I'll stick my head in the sand for the rest of the season!

Dude... despite Salty's heroics... that's gross!

But yeah, Jenas can get in the box and score, which is fine, but he can't pass for shit. And Ghaly... well at the start of the season I was impressed, and he does work hard, but he's just way too sloppy in possession. And the number of times they watched, actually stood and watched as the ball rolled past them, actually caused me to lose the ability to string a coherent sentence together through sheer rage.

Hudd's passing was terrific. I'll be honest and say that I gave up when Salty came on (who'd a thunk it?) and I didn't see Taarbat at all cause I'd left with a monk on.

I was doubting both Zokora and Lee a few months ago but i never really doubted Teemu. I think he's well suited to the english game and will get better now he's getting a run in the side in the central position. Lee looks like a very decent lb now and didier looks like a dynamic central midfielder if he's with the right partner and against the right opposition.

We want to be a top 4 team. Well, would TT start for Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U or Chelsea? I think definetely not. If he is our most important player then we are a far cry from being a top 4 club, simple as. I like Teemu, he's a valuable squad player but not good enough to be a main player, let alone the most important, in a team challenging for a CL spot.

er yeh, you mean the fact it took him 3/4 of a season to give them the bollocking they deserved and then even on sunday we still sat back on getting back to all square and once again lost the initiative . Once we stop doing that rather basic error then i may stop doubting him.

end of the day we scored our first cos Bowyer fecked up, we got our third cos Ferdinand fecked up and we got the winner cos wham fecked up going all out for the win . ok they still had to be finished but you cant honestly say it was down to any tactical genius on the gaffers part, indeed lack of is what put us in that position . we only play when we're losing!!
