In direct contradiction to my 'No faith' thread...I actually fancy this one, they are still smarting from their FA cup defeat....I think we could take em...although, these lot IMO are the toughest side outside the top 4.

If this issue was a nail and that comment was a hammer, consider the former well and truly sunk by the latter.
Keane and Mido to start, TT and Zokora to play like they did last night and the defence to hold firm. If all that happens, three points are ours...

tbh i think it is down to bolton , if they let us play then we will win , but if they are up for it they will bully us out of the game . most teams realise this weakness of the spurs side , fulham were just woeful though , and everton missing some key players and couldnt didctate the pace to us , thats why we won both .

although mido did well in setting up keane for his goals last week am i the only 1 that thinks he is shite? apart from that he was a complete gaffe merchant, put robbo in all sorts of shite from 50 ****in yards, and then tried to nod 1 past him. sell him in the summer and get ashton in!
i predict us to score 2 but let in the customary goal so 2-1 to us but a nervy last 15/20 mins.

Don't want ashton mate for one hes been injured all season for 2 he will be over priced especially if they go down.
Mido isnt our best striker by a long way but he does a job, he set up two goals and made 2 mistakes i understand but he gives his all for us i think.
i still think berba and mido to start sunday
mido gd in the air
berba gd on the floor

I'd put him above the lot. What he lacks in touch and finisse like Berba he more than makes up for in force and spirit. His runs are quality, off the ball he is one of the best, whilst on it he looks for the disguised ball, the one which he can see but no-one else but teammates can.
A truly quality player. England's team should be built around him and Gerrard, bit by bit. Will never happen though. Too many un-droppable players (Note: Players certainly not 'undroppable' in my mind)

We could buy for 20m both Trezeguet and Crespo. Inter signed Zlatan for less than 20m. And we signed Berba for 10m. I haven't watched Ashton but his stats are unimpressive - Norwich 44 apr and 17 goals and West Ham - 11 apr and 3 goals.

Sometimes stats lie, and he's not the type to score thirty goals a season. He's sets up alot. His positioning and reading of the game has been likened to Teddy and I firmly believe given the right team and the right role in the team he could be a top, top player.
I don't like Trez. I don't like Crespo for that matter either.

the last thing id want is to sell keane or defoe, both give us different aspects of play, keane being the playmaker and defoe is deadly when he's in the mood.
someone said tainio, dawson and mido were the key to 3 points, i just think containing diouf, anelka and nolan will be key, we have the firepower to cause them problems, especially with ben haim out but chimbonda, dawson and whoever plays in the middle will need to be exceptional

Thats a gd comment
for 20 mill we could get a top end nearly world class striker
but will jol want young english talent up there?
also i dont think strikers are our top priority for purchasing position wise
i think we need to look at our left side
i think a proper good left back and a left footed winger would be pieces of the jigsaw we need to invest in first

After two away wins against Fulham and Everton this is a MUST win home match. With the games coming up after Bolton it is our chance to pick up a lot of points and move us up the table. I can see us ( I know I shouldnt say this) putting a winning streak of 5 league games together. Next matches are ..
Bolton Home
Spammers Away
Watford Home
Reading Home
The ones I feel we have to win are the Bolton and Reading ones as they are the teams fighting for that 6th place and are above us in the league,

FiveLive are adamant that Keane's red was an error of judgement on behalf of Poll. No suprises there then.
We're not beaten by any means, but it's such a shame that Robbie was unfairly dismissed when he was on the verge of a truly classic performance.

i honestly can't remember feeling this proud of spurs in a regular league game. every quality i want to see from them was out there today, before keane getting sent off some really sweet football... and then after keane went off, more sweet football, but with grit and brains and stopping bolton create any final product. had a couple lucky moments, but not more than a fair share (they did too after all). not a complaint about anyone today and 4 or 5 guys had a frankly super game. And best of all, the Bolton thats above us did turn up at some points today, and they wern't fooking good enough :D
So now lets crucify some pikeys and whoevers after that (too giddy to remember LOL )

What a ****ing win!!
I've spent all afternoon holed up in my room because I was convinced Arse would win today and it's too much to take, and then the Spurs goals started rolling in..
And today we bucked THE trend for the first time in recent memory
That trend being 'the commanding first half lead' followed by 'silly refereeing decision' followed yet again by 'collapse'
But not this time, for ONCE we actually played with Ten-men, protected our lead and then scored another one to seal it...and Arsenal lost. Couldn't have gone any better, although I feel sorry for Natalie (the missus) who went all the way to Cardiff.
3 wins in a week? Suddenly the pain of the semi and the manure game is fading...and we have Chelsea in the cup, now that they have one cup...they may let this one slip, who can know....

absolutely superb performance , best this season by a long way .
couldnt find fault with any spurs player , all worked extremely hard , and battled for it .
not a fan of jenas or tanio but both did well . thought maybe zakoras best game , rocha did well , chimba great against diouf , but man of the match for me was berbatov , outstanding display of leading the line , of holding up the ball and bringing people into the game . he looked a 30m + player today .
and a big up for martin jol , who has come in for a lot of stick this season , regatrding his tactical nous , i thought the game plan from the off was spot on , and when we went down to 10 men ok we looked a little shakey till half time , but second half we were even better in regards of workrate and tactics .
my only gripe , and its a small one , but zak took a couple of tumbles when there wasnt contact , even berby did it once , and even though other teams do it , and it ultimately helps us , i cant help cringing a bit when we stoop to do that

Come. ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!
I'm finally starting to feel the glory again! That is exactly the sort of result I want to see against a team like Notlob. Can't bloody stand them, and we've crushed them.
Shame about Robbie, but from what I've seen, there can't be too many arguments about it. But absolute pride in our team for NOT folding with ten men and finally showing some grit.
Also Jenas is pretty much back to the player he was last year, and getting in on the goals. This could be due to Zokora finally starting to pull his weight as a DM allowing Jenas a bit more freedom to relax.
Anyway, I haven't seen the full highlights yet, just the goals, so will probably have some more views after I've watched them tonight.

26th February 2007, 10:22 AM
To quote "Jenas is getting back to the player he was last year" - I hope vloody not, from what I saw today, of which may be described as a 'mini-blinder', he is getting back to the form of 3 or 4 years ago when he was actually a good player. He's finally to show why we bought him in, he's not just a large paperweight he's beginning to do something. I hope he can continue this for the rest of the season so those pro-Jenas can see that actually for the past two seasons they've been watching crap!
Some blinding stuff I saw, we should have had 8 or 9!
Berba deserved a few, and had Keano stayed on it may have been a different game, to think we played most of the match with 10 men. A few weeks back we couldn't play football with 11 but we played Bolton off the park yesterday.
jrio
26th February 2007, 12:42 PM
Agreed, had Keane stayed on it's no exaggeration to say we could well have had 6 or 7. Even with 10 men we had the better chances - Berb's header over, the ball stuck under his feet with the keeper to beat, Jenas' shot followed up by a save from Mal, our lightning break when Mal badly goofed by trying to go through the centre. Bolton were quite poor from the start and could have got back into the game after the penalty and sending-off but in the second half we were very organised, disciplined and composed.
3 goals in 3 league games from Jenas? That's more like it! Nice round of applause for him from the Paxton when he came over to take a corner. Playing at the peak of a diamond the midfield looked very solid and fluid, and I would say that was Zokora's best game by far as he sat in front of the defence. Utilising his ability to run with the ball with his dazzling change of pace and turns to shake off defenders, he was invaluable when down to 10 men. Picking up the ball from Dawson in our half under pressure he started to weave through Bolton midfielders before slotting a ball through to Berb who was flagged offside.
Berb was just otherworldly, one of the best individual performances I can ever recall seeing at the Lane. Every forward move seemed to revolve around him. Defoe had looked to be his best partner but Keane looked like a man with a point to prove. I've no doubt he could have got 4 if he'd stayed on. Chimbonda was incredible in possession in tight situations, so composed and strong. Robinson looks back to his best and Dawson strained to impose his body between any Bolton effort and our goal. Even Lee looked good! Definitely top 5 standard and a charge on that position is not impossible with the next few opponents we face.

Nice summary mate..exactly the way I saw it as well...last season I wasnt happy with Lee at all..but what an improvement of late!!! It could of easily ended up 8-2 yesterday!..

It's the kind of performance that just shows why everyone had such high expectations for us. Proof we're able, we just need to follow it up with the same effort and focus as we showed on Sunday.

Ridiculous. Clearly he didn't use his hand to prevent a goal and the contact itself was inadvertent. How is it Terry gets away with arms raised blocking shots more than once in the penalty area, which affect the chance of a shot on goal? So that's our striking partnership broken up again just as it was looking particularly lethal.

I say that the club ought to write to the FA saying the Poll and Rennie will no longer recieve the benfit of the clubs facilities, i.e. they won't get a changing room, they can't use the abloutions and they may not park their vehicles on club property.
Or the club writes to the FA saying that we can;t guarantee these officials safety.

No, the thing to do is for all Premiership and Championship clubs to get together and refuse to accept them as officials. That way any punishment would be collective, the FA can't exactly go against the will of all 92 league clubs can they? It is time that fans and clubs took a collective stand against what is an increasingly poor standard of refereeing both in this country and worldwide. For starters, it is my belief that all league referees should have played football to a certain standard. The vast majority begin their "careers" as referees in thier early teens meaning they never actually play a proper game of football. It's one thing to know the laws of the game, it's quite another to be able to apply them and understand what you are seeing. Any referee who played the game would know that it was impossible for Robbie to get out of the way on Sunday...
Another real problem with modern day refs is that their egos get in the wat of their desicions and performances; anyone who has seen Poll, Rennie, Clatenburg et al will back me up on this.

Poll's impossible to take seriously after his 3 yellow cards to one player World Cup tie. His arrant stupidity could easily have cost us dear had we not been so superior. Apart from that he didn't do anything massively incorrect but he always has to have his moment. I disagree about having played football to a certain standard as none of us have, but are able to interpret the rules in a way that would allow games not to be impeded by excessive punishments. It would be too limiting on the pool of future referees. Managers take most of the blame through encouraging players to con and badger referees.
I concede that a penalty could have been awarded(I see little Keane could have done apart from play the game with no arms to avoid ball contact) and a yellow card but how can a red be justified? Too many clubs(ManU, Chelsea, Arse) and their managers get away with bullying refs who seem to counter-balance it by swinging excessively the other way when those clubs aren't involved. How did Wigan pick up 6 yellow cards against Newcastle on Sunday? When Blackburn, on a par with Bolton, played there the yellow score was 0-5 to Blackburn, pretty much what you'd expect. Wigan at home are about the least yellow card club in the league.

It's a terrible decision. It clearly hits his chest, stopping it from going in, then as it falls it clips his hand. Penalty, fair enough as it's a handball on the line but the red was wrong and it's plain idiotic that they've let the red stand.
