Apparently we've agreed a deal to sign Wigan right-back Pascal Chimbonda.

Got any links or sources for this speculation?

I heard we were interested but were yet to make an official approach.

Just a couple of things I've heard. Of course there's no way to prove it etc...

We'll just have to wait and see.

Cool, he's good.

He may be better than Salty, but so are most right backs. But is he CL class?

Great potential me thinks.

If we want to progress meaningfully, we should be dealing for certainty rather than potential as we have so many young players of potential already. What we need now are 3 to 4 impact players to guarantee we sustain our improvement.

i recall him saying recently that he didn't like english football, something to do with having to tackle. I figured that would mean he wanted to go abroad. Good job we're playing in europe next year then lol.

i think he will be very good in europe as the continental game seems to suit him better especially if he doesnt like to tackle. he will be a very good player for us if it is true.

That could cost a hell-of-a-lot for what we need. Two strikers, two full-backs, left-winger and maybe even another centre-back for spare.

it looks like he'll cost about £3-4million which is good value for someone of his talent in this day and age, who else could we get thats better and for the same price

Quality if it's true. Guess Kelly is off then, which is probabaly OK considering he's been moaning of this season and crap when given the chance to shine. It's a tough life, and every footballplayer have got to sieze the chances they get.

Also feel Salty was much better after he was dropped a few games, so what he might need is some competition.

Considering Jewell has said he doesn't want to sell him (and if he did he'd only go for 10 million) then I'd say it aint happening people.

radio has just said he has put in a transfer request straight away, chairman wanting 6m.

if the player wants to leave, they cant stop him, if its true that he put in his transfer request then he's ours for the taking.

highlander

its been confirmed that Chimbonda has handed in a transfer request and apparently he has a get-out clause in his contract. ive heard Man U are also after him but i dont believe it, they've got plenty of full-backs, lets hurry up and thrash out a deal for a quality player.

he's going to arsenal lads. did you see wenger talk to him at the final wistle? then he went staright to paul jewel and told him he was handing in his transfer request...

he would be quality for us though. wont get a starting place with the gooners but would with us.

highlander

no dont believe it, with Lauren & Eboue as right backs arsen-hole wenger wont buy another right back especially with his fear of spending money

Spur

There's better players than him, and I for one would not want to spend 6mil on him.

yeah it doesn't exactly speak of commitment when he's played game then hands in a transfer request straight away. he didn't have a good game either.

on sky sports after all the games they seemed to think he was headed to United....?
