Can we beat them? Who will start? What will the result be and who if anyone will score?

Let's focus on what's at hand, I mean, we've got another game before then - it's called Manchester City vs Arsenal, and yes it's AWAY... The four letter word that scummy fans hate, AWAY...

I think West ham will rest some players before the FA cup final.... Think Reo-cooker, Harewood and others will be sitting on the bench... quiet sure we will win this one...

they had some injuries to etherington and ashton tonight too, which is a shame.
Wonder if mido will be fit for the game.

This is the moment to prove the quality that shows we deserve that 4th spot. Especially if Arsenal beat City.

This is it lads it all comes down to this, we've held on to that 4th spot against all the odds and we truly deserve it. What ever happens I'm very proud of our team and how we've competed with the big boys this year.

hey do you think our lucky decision against bolton now means we have achieved big club status in the eyes of the officials?? You know like mendes from the half way line etc. Bout bloody time.

That's an amusing point!

I've said all along that we would get 10 points from the last five games, and I back us to finish that off with a win against the Spam - just wish I had a ticket!

I hope so too. Defoe has a been a passenger of late.

If Keane is out, there is no alternative. Is El Ham back in training? if so, would like to see him in squad and given a run-out if we're 2, 3 goals up with 30 minutes to go. Would also like Hudd given some time agin if we are miles ahead.

2-3 up!?
Optimistic aren't we!

Got to be mate. Particularly when I expect they'd be only at about 60% efficiency with their once in a life-timechance of glory coming up.

im not entirely sure about keano or mido so it looks like defoe & barney will start or maybe Jol will continue with the 4-5-1 we used in the 2nd half against Bolton

Was very impressed by Barnard the other day. The odd moment of headless chicken type movement, but his passion was fantastic. His first touch seemed phenomenal and he sucked the ball down a few times from the heavens like it was nothing.

If Jol started with just Defoe up front I would genuinely be afraid of failing to get the result, I mean he just doesnt look like he even WANTS to score, let alone TRIES to...

thats my fear, for such a good player he's shockingly lazy and inept. also he cant really complain about not playing regularly as he's been playing for ages and his last goal was his double against charlton in january.

Give barney a chance he showed more desire in one half than defoe has this year if not this season. Clive Allen reckons he's gonna be good ...let's see he can only be better than defoe. Besides if lennon turns up with the afterburners he'll get a tap in. P.s. twinkle toes ( carrick ) might turn ti on against his old club.

yes thats if he's fit

Thats the advantage we have over the team of last season ( apart from full back) we have cover in every position. Personally I like huddlestone he could cover for carrick alongside tainio ( revelation) and jenas or murphy.

I dont think we need many players 2 or 3 maybe. Our squad need to develop into the force it is fast becoming

Young(ish) players with European experience would be ideal but I daresay expensive. Can't wait for the transfer window.... again.

highlander

yer i love the transfer window, terribly exciting when we sign a fairly unknown player like tainio last summer or pedro the season before etc.

starting to worry about our injuries, we have been so lucky all season and have had very few, and only minor injuries now it seems that most of our first team will be out for the most important match of the season! I knew our luck was to good to be true! Fingers crossed, carrick and keane will be back in time, and we will coast to an easy victory against a weakened hammers side!!!!

Due to the injuries I think the way to go on Sunday is....

Robinson/Kelly/Dawson/Gardner/Y.P.Lee/Lennon/Davids/Tainio/Murphy/Defoe/
Barnard

There's not much height except for CD. Perhaps play Hudd in Carrick's spot and have Murphy on the bench.

Might certainly be the time to test him...

If huddlestone is frustrated at his lack of opportunity then this could be a great one...

highlander
4th May 2006, 03:55 PM
it could be time for him to step up, here's how id like to see us line up against West Ham on sunday;

robbo/kelly/daws/gardner/lee/lennon/hudlestone/tainio/reid/barney/defoe

thats if keano and mido dont make it, davids to be on the bench and definately come on

I think should wait and see who west ham put out. If they are strong then pick experience.
If they rest a few then try hudds and kelly . But defo barnie to start regardless of mido...he can't be fully fit.

Welsh Spur

Barney to start, Mido on bench if poss, i just fancy him to score more than anyone else....

Chinaman

If chances fall his way, he'll score. No doubt about that.

highlander

id love to see that happen, i cant wait for Barney to set the premiership on fire

Let's say we can sign a top notch big striker and Mido and Defoe leave. I'd like to see el Ham and Barney be our3rd and 4th striker. I believe that especially Hammy can develop into an above average striker.
