This has now become a MUST win tie if we can get any positives out of this season. With us being out of the carling cup and effectively out of any meaningful position in the league we HAVE to at least get to the final of the FA or UEFA cup.

Can only see a draw at best for us. I do believe that if we get a replay we will be ok. Gonna have to fight like Turkeys trying to get out of Hungary to get a draw though!!!

And we are not excatly showing much fight at the moment.....

I'm going for a 14-1 fulham win

That's given me a chuckle. Needed that, thanks.

I think we'll lose i'm afraid. Can't see the slide halting now, we were very lucky to grab a point at the cottage a few weeks ago, and they are a tough team to beat at home, and we cannot win away for love nor muff.

I think we'll get at them at the start as we tend to do, maybe even get a goal through sheer hardwork and superior footballing prowess, but then they'll get a goal through either a ludicrous offside, or a penalty which has also resulted in a red card for one of us (probably Malbranque). Then its a matter of our brave boys trying to cause an upset, but ultimately petering out and conceding two goals in the last 10 minutes, one of them probably from Brown and as he laughs, we cry. 3-1 Home win. Would love to be wrong.

taht sounds about rite ginola,s son, we start off well, and as jol finds his seat and shares a sarnie with chrissy h, and calls for the mustard, we score, 7 mins later, as our management team are plotting how best to use the cimplimentary tooth picks, given FREE with the sarnies, (we didnt have to wait till the sarnie shop was nearly closing) (ala transfer window) just when they are about to use the tooth picks, our boys on the pitch, suddenly , and uncharicteristically make a few mistakes, well actually many mistakes,
they cant cope with mcbride, montella, diop, knight has a blinder, and keeps (single handedly) ALL our strikers at bay, JOL STARTS WITH ALL 4 STRIKERS, and TWO keepers, SORRY GUYS JUST TRYING TO KEEP MY SPIRITS UP,its a long week, its only monday, i work with a load of gooners and liverpool fans, iraq seems safer than being at work.COYS, were ever you are

Lol. Enjoyed the analogy above. But yeah, the rot has set in and we're in for our traditional low spell that we have every half-decade after the season or two of false dawn.

My real concern right now is the state of the mid table. Only another 6 points or so dropped and we're right down in the relegation doldrums. This should NOT be happening but we'd better be bracing ourselves for a very dispondent end to the season.

Never mind. We'll have our next exciting yet inevitably dissapointing season or two in a few years time!

well at least brown is suspended so he wont b scoring some flukey, pikey, gipsy of a goal. seems we are getting a bad time from ref's at the mo, not that im using that as an excuse for our utter shitness after 15 mins in the last 6 or so games.

just seems that teams can soak u what we are throwing at them in the first quarter of an hour and then our heads drop and we get ****ed on for 75mins. and its so depressing that no-one here has said confidently that we will beat FULHAM! its bloody fulham for christ sake, and although i agree they are an improving team that are tough to beat at home, surely if we are looking to be in the top tier of the premiership then fulham are a team we should expect to beat with some ease.

i dont like to think of myself as an over optimistic fan because of last year but surely with the money spent and players brought in we shouldnt be doing so shit. and i dont know about everyone else but im going to be extremely pissed if we lose. the shitness has to stop somewhere ay. and we have been prmoised better performances for a while now, lets hope they deliver

I predict 2-1 to Fulham with McBride and Helguson scoring and Defoe pulling back a consolation in the last 15 minutes. Fulham's front two will bully our defence all day and our midfield will be over run and sit deeper and deeper. Martin Jol will stand on the touchline with that "What do I do now?" look palstered over his face, I also predict at least 30 minutes of arm-crossed, gum chewing blankness.

Surely this predictathon is my bag given my prophetic abilities;

Fulham 1 (McBride) Spurs 0; attendance 18,567; Fulham will not only out muscle the North London wimps, they will also out play them, to the extent that Cookie Coleman is seen laughing wildly as Martin Jol gives his post match press conference in which he claimed his side can be deemed "unlucky" and that they showed a lot of "courage" and that the only thing missing is a "bit of luck you know".

Zokora to be outplayed by a one legged, blind midget on valium (god I hate this guy), Defoe to sulk, Keane to rant and rave, Berba not to bother turning up at all, Robbo to flap everytime the ball is in our half of the pitch, YPL to fall over his own feet whilst cutting inside again, Steed to be taken off at the knee by Routledge who will himself have a stormer (MJ to say "I told you that Routledge is not good enough).

This is the side I'd put out to quell Fulham's movement and their physical front two;

GK:Robbo
LB:Lee (I know, he's the best of a very bad bunch)
RB:Chimo
CB:Daws
CB:Gardner (Rocha is not going to be able to handle a physical contest)
CM:Huddlestone
CM:Anyone but Zokora (for obvious reasons, anyone going to the game please take your boots just in case Jol is tempted to play this piece of dogs-*****.
LW: Either Steed or BAE (trust me, he's a much better midfielder)
RW: Meep meep!!
Str: MIDO!!!!
Str: Berbatov

Tactics to win game;
Get the ball down and wide to really stretch Fulham, don't attack Rosenior but do attack Quedrue. Do not pump the ball long to anyone marked by Zat Knight. Do not sit deep as this will alow crosses to come into the box for McBride and Helguson.

By order of The Tactical Consultant.

You got it right last week(not the score) yet I thought during the game how difficult it would be, having heard the early Spurs goal, to not secretly wish a defeat to protect your bet. Spurs usually cost me money on peripherals betting so I try and stay clear. A friend always reminds me of Peter Cook betting against Spurs in every game so he'd always have something to be pleased about.

Gottta take issue with 2 of those. Rocha less physical than Gardner! Gardner! Gardner who regularly gets brushed aside by strong front men!

Ekotto on LW! Not a game in which to experiment. With you on Mido but there's less chance of that happening than spring in February.

I've actually seen Benny play at left midfield for Lens and he looks a proper player. He also prefers to play that position as he was only converted to full back around two seasons ago.

If Rocha plays I will almost gaurentee that he gets knocked around all afternoon. He's great defending against the more skillful players but struggles in a physical battle which is exactly what we're up against.

There's something wrong right there. 'Gardner gets brushed aside by strong front men!' should read 'Gardner gets brushed aside and walked through by everyone and anyone!'.

need a win a massive boost for the team. jol has taken us as far as he can. i think he needs to move on. there is no obvious replacement so why not get clive allen working with the senior squad. his reserve team is not doing too badly. i think that he can work up some magic and a get a working tactic going.
the score against fulham will be 1-0 to spurs. optimistic but well worth it.

Lovely performance. I think the spurs lads read my faith thread and decided to play.

God knows we need something to smile about.

It wasn't a perfect performance, goals scored aside. Fulham weren't all that really and I was suprised they didn't get a goal. Robbo was magnificent today, especially when Mido was trying to score an own-goal and he made the save of the season.

Robbie's twin goals were superb, and the 4th from Berby was stylish, a nice win, which us fans more than deserve.

Master! Your followers doubt you!! Please, give them a sign!(not the bush with plentiful berries, because they've swiftly cottoned on to that one). We might be able to enter a plea of unwitting obscurity as you weren't aware Defoe was suspended and, unknown to anyone, Berb was on the bench(the utter homer then conspired to further undermine you by scoring 2 goals in under 20 minutes, one incredibly stylish - a clear homage to Hoddle - to further ridicule your prescience)

[Attendance only out by less than 100 though, so maybe you should concentrate on that in the future? Also, prepare yourself for gallons of choda-crap about Keane and how Davids retension would have won us a CL place].

Great match and typical FA cup match. Lots of fight and a high tempo. Noticed that Keanos two goals was just like looking back at last season. We got so many easy goals that way. Long ball up towards Mido, flick on and Keano clinical finish! :D.. That's what Mido can do and maybe the only thing he does better then Berba, but it's effective.

Maybe our strikers in on a roll now? I hope so because then we are dangeruos. I liked our midfield today, with 2 defensive midfielders to protect the back 4. That's what we need and the Lennon, a left winger and our strikers to hurt the oppositions. We have enough class in our offensive positions to play like that.

Totally agree.

We always have the same moronic chants. Week in, week out

I just HATE 'we're the paxton, we're the paxton...' etc It's just an ugly sounding chant and BORING!

We had those two def mids against the Scum too.

The difference yesterday was the fight, the passion. They seemed well up for it, even Zokora would pick up the ball and go on his 50 yard runs which he is so good at. No-one shirked out of a challenge either, and Steed ran his bollocks off again.

And perhaps most importantly...we took our chances. Someone said we had 6 shots - 4 went in. That's a good conversion rate if you ask me, i'll settle for 6 shots 4 goals every week.

Spur completely agree with your assessment..the difference was the passion and the fight...it was so obvious..and we'r winning a lot of 50/50s and 2nd balls..this was exactly what I was looking for yesterday..it was great that we scored great goals and took our chances..but what really pleased me was the extra effort we put in and they worked hard for each other...more performances like this please....:) ...

Yeah Olly i completely agree, zokora and tainio looked like they were up for it and wanted to get stuck in for the full 90mins. If they couldnt win the ball they made sure their opposite number couldnt win it either. I thought Tainio had his best game for spurs in a long long time.

Well bugger me! Where did that performance come from?! Despite the general attitude to Andy Gray, his point about the lack of consistency in team selection and tactics being the biggest contributor to our performances this week certainly rang true. Is it possible that Jol will stick with this line up in the future, at least for away games, because we had a midfield partnership that actually worked together, fought hard and didn't roll over like a submissive dog. And Mido's physical presence paid dividends with his two assists (although defensively beyond questionable, as Robbo vocally pointed out. Laughed out loud when, after telling Mido to "**** off up there", he then shouted "Mido, well done mate, ****ing come on!")

It also demonstrates our depth of striking options when we can bring Berbatov on which brought even more craft to our game. I never have had any doubts about Keano, or indeed any of our strikers. It's one aspect of our squad that I'm confident about as they're all quality. The nature of Robbie's goals lends credibility to Jol's big man/little man pairing however.

Still, over the moon with that. I think I'll let an indifferent league performance this year go if we continue like that in the cups. All we have to do is go and win at stamford bridge(!)

Jol has not always been able to put out the same team though has he? SO that can't be held against him unless you just want to be unfair? And people have been playing so badly they deserved to be dropped if their injured or suspended. And then those who come in are just as bad. Hmmm, seems I just turned that one around onto the players...

Main criticisms have been of the rotation of Defoe and Keane which has been done consistently. This has led to claims that Defoe can't perform to his potential because he needs several starts to get a "rhythm". The big man/little man tactic isn't terribly sophisticated but when it works goals flow easily. Both of Keane's were largely a long kick from Robbo, flick-on by Mido, followed by a stunning shot from Keane. Unfortunately this doesn't work so easily when facing a top 4 side. In fact, until Berb came on, we didn't create much in the way of a goal threat apart from those instances. I still don't think that both Defoe and Keane will be here within the next year. Other sides can perm any combination of their strikers but we can only use Defoe and Keane when both tall strikers are injured.

The boys done great. They played with a desire to win for the full 90 mins. Passion is what we want The keano and mido partnership worked although Im not convinced this it will 100% of the time. Not really been properly tested against such an impassioned Fulham side. But im really keen to give Mido one last chance to impress. Despite his goal faux pas....

We cant get carried away though. Lets all hope this gives the team some confidence going forward. But as a long term spurs supporter I know that one good game isnt necessairly followed by a mirror performance!

great result , but to be honest i wasnt that impressed with our performance against a fulham side that were woeful.
yes the effort was put in , but it wasnt until the game was really over that i thought we strung much together .
i thought the midfield worked hard but that tanio and zakora gave the fulham guys too much room when they were receiving the ball by just sitting off them , a better midfield would have made us pay im sure .
soemone has posted that they thought it was tanios best game , well that maybe so but i thought he was pretty invisible apart from a couple of important clearences ( though i admit you dont get a full idea when watching on t.v )
top marks for robbo , pleased for him after coming in for some stick from all directions , and a fairly solid defensive performance all round , but to be honest they werent up against much .
up front a couple of crackers from robbie (on another day both could and have gone wide or over ), and class from berby (game already over )but apart from that really didnt see much penetration and when lennon was looking to cross not many spurs targets to hit .
i am probably being over critical , was a f.a cup tie , a derby against west london , we are out of form , everyone expected us to loose and we kept a clean sheet and scored 4 .

The goals that won us the game were pure route one, but Knight is no short-arse wimpy defender, so Mido did have to do well to win those balls. I would fancy him to do just as well against a Terry or Hyppia. The midfield did work very hard, but the jury is still out on them bossing a top four midfield. Zokora/Tainio vs Ballack/Lampard? Hmmm...

Actually Mido wasn't challenging Bramble for either of the goals, it was Bramble that was out of position on marking Keano.

As it goes after the match Knight got shouted at by some Fulham fans and started giving it back to them - making yet another Titus Bramble mistake.

I'm implying that Zat Knight is in the same bracket as Titus Bramble and Phillipe Senderos.

In other words...Utter Shite.

Er... okay. You could've just said that. Actually I'd say that comparison is a great dis-service to Knight. There's not many defenders as bad as Titus Bramble.

I would definately put him in there. He's a shocking player. My Fulham supporting mate once said to a whole roomful of people that he was future England.

We're still laughing even now.

How I rate a defender is mainly on the most basic of skills. Namely for a defender the most basic of basic skills that any and every defender should be able to complete is holding a line together. He can't do it.

Bramble is just generally a terrible player. Bad timing for everything including tackles and headers, i'm obviously willing to say Knight is better in this department, but if you can't do the simple things - your no good. Senderos can't hold a line either. Always opening his mouth but can never do the easy bit himself.

Ledley is so good because he does everything to a high level, he can make those saving tackles like the Huckerby one, the Robben one, the Pires(? maybe RVP) one. He can header, he can pass, and he commands the defence (although Dawson does more than his fair share).

Terry does everything to a decent level, but will still make mistakes. He only looks really good because it's how he deals with those mistakes that is good. Personally I don't like a player who makes mistakes even if he does sometimes make up for them (read Jenas).

All players, heck people, make mistakes. Granted the rate at which you make mistakes gives an idea of general aptitude, but disliking a player for making even one mistake is plain daft. Even Ronaldinho makes blunders, and we all know how good he is.

Yea fine. But we're talking about people who continually make mistakes in their chosen profession. If a goalkeeper continually drops the ball you'd call him shit in exactly the same way that i'm calling Zat Knight and Titus Bramble shit because they continually make mistakes.

You have to think about how a team scores a goal. It's generally one of three reasons. A piece of individual brilliance. A piece of team brilliance. Or a mistake by a one or more players.

Whilst playing Fulham on Sunday we saw 4 goals. Three have been attributed to Zat Knight.
