One thing about teams being relegated that i really enjoy is, looking at their players and seeing if they could do a job for us and if we should consider a cut-price raid.on the face of it there isnt much talent at Sunderland, West Brom & Birmingham but there is a few rough diamonds in there...........if you look hard enough:
1. Ben Alnwick - good young Sunderland keeper we have been linked with and may sign if Marton Fulop decides he wants out.
2. Matthew Upson - would be a good reliable replacement for the, hopefully departing, Gardner and probably departing Bunje & Naybet.
3. Curtis Davies - WBA defender, same reason as Upson. 1 not both Upson & Davies
4. Heskey - solid, strong striker who could be our 2nd big man but id rather not
5. Jarosik - scored a lot from the centre of a poor midfield this season and gave a very good account of himself
theres my 5 from the relegated, out of those i can see Alnwick arriving if Fulop goes and maybe Davies as well.

Ex-gooner, wouldnt go down well and i dont think he's any better than Routledge.

Ah, the vultures begin their spiralling descent..... ;)
Is it just me or is it weird having all three teams down and the title won with two games left?
There could, concievably, be nothing for anyone to play for on the final day....
...other than fourth place, of course!

They're all sh!te, our days of raiding relegated teams are over. We need Torres or Kuyt, Bridge, and Duff or Downing or Pedersen or Ribery.

I totally agree, we need to be looking at the cream of europes youngsters, look at Ars*nal, they just poach youngsters and claim them as there own! Although it pains me too say it they are general good buys!
Mind you we wouldn't have Daws if we didn't raid forest or Robbo when Leeds went down, so we can't stop it completely:confused:

Upson is an ex-gooner too. I'd rather Pennant than any of the others said. Another right-wing could be Gera from those teams. Davies is an awful, awful player. Jarosik is Chelsea's, so no cut-price there, plus centre-mid - we need anymore? Heskey - I HOPE BLOODY NOT. These players are second-rate at best, our targets have gone up, fair enough we cannot buy every good player, but none of these please.

Heskey??? He's only scored 5 this season! I agree that we need a player in that style i.e. big, strong, can hold up play and play team-mates into attack, but i would also preffer a striker who could actually, well, strike!
I don't think there is any player from a relegated team we could do with, must admit i was a tad upset that Pompy stayed up, they have a couple of players i like, most notable Lua Lua, that goal he scored against us earlier in the season was amazing!
I'm still upset we didn't get a couple more of West Hams players when they went down a few seasons back
Joe Cole Lampard Jenas Lennon
now that would be a title winning midfield.

I agree wholeheartedly. None of those players are good enough for us to be where we want to be....at the very top.

How about Zoltan Gera of west brom? Decent midfielder with a good eye for goal. Only thing is he seems very injury prone.
