Keep your squads as realistic as possible although I'm sure some won't beable to resist the urge of taking the pi$$. Here's mine:

Robbo/Cerny
Salty/Ifil
Bridge/Lee
King/Davenport
Dawson/Gardner
Lennon/Routledge
Ben Arfa/Tainio
Carrick/Davids
Jenas/Murphy
Keano/Defoe
Torres/Kuyt

4 new players and still the versitile Huddlestone to fill in if need be. The odds of us getting Torres and Kuyt are pretty slim, but it would be nice. I would like Downing to but Boro would probably want a small fortune for him. Bridge and Ben Arfa would probably cost about 3mil a piece. Torres would be about 15-20mil on a payment plan, and Kuyt about 10-15mil also on a payment plan. With our 4th place finish and hopefully CL football money to I reckon we could pull it all of. Here's hoping now let me see everyone else 22 man squads lets have a 5 new player max.

ok well you missed out ghaly for a start. so as i think we'll lose two from the middle:
robbo, cerny
kelly, king, gardner, dawson, davo, bridge, lee +(a versatile defender/full back)
lennon, routy, tainio, jenas, carrick, hudds, ghaly, doula (sp?)
keane, defoe, lua lua, zigic

this is my choice of midfield, but i fear murphy and ghaly were bought with the idea of losing two others. Which would probably be between carrick davids and tainio. I'd prefer to lose davids as he's the worst of the three for me. carrick has a type for type replacement in hudds, and tainio could be flogged for a good profit. Not my idea but just why i think we bought two new centre mids in january.

We'll get in a big name striker with a bit of luck and one on a free or for about 2mil max. We'll get two new full-backs depending on whether they think Ifil is good enough.

That said I think we cap a spending spree at 25mil TOPS. We have amassed a great squad over the last two seasons, most of the players originally brought in are gone anyway, so it's more like two new squads that have conintually got better. The next step up will take a little longer though, because it will cost a hell of a lot more.

You've all forgotten about Ziegler.

Robbo/Cerny
Stalteri/Kelly
King/Davenport
Dawson/Gardner.......unfortunately i dont think gardner will be replaced
Bridge/Lee
Lennon/Routledge
Carrick/Huddlestone
Jenas/Tainio
Pedersen/Ben Arfa
Mido/Zigic
Keane/Defoe

i like both ziegler and reid but i can see them leaving and although Gardner should leave, he probably wont as curbs seems to be leaving charlton and they were the only club stupid enough to want him. yes i know murphy and ghaly are missing but i cant see why we bought them, murphy is good but only when hes playing regularly which he never will

I forgot our young Czech wonderkid Pekhart and I also forgot Ghali. I got high hopes for Pekhart hopefully he can live up to the hype we all heard.

My ideal starting 11

Robbo

Roberto Carlos King Dawson Bridge

Robben Carrick Jenas Lennon

Keane Torres

I have a feeling Chelski are gonna have a big clear out (no proof tho) which could result in Bridge and Robben becoming surplus to requirement, i'm 99% sure that Bridge will come to us after the wc when first team (garentees?) are less of a priorty for him. I woulfd love to see Robben on the left for us, just as long as MJ puts him up against the wall on the first day and makes it clear that diving, cheating and general whinging are a chelski trait and will not be tollerated at the lane! I think we could also get SWP as competition for Lennon on the right and cover for robben on the left!

Carlos from Real Madrid may not be as crazy as it sounds, Mardid are in for a major reshuffle, and RC could be replaced with Ashley Cole, leaving him surplus to requirement. Freeing him up for a Davids-esq transfer to us, using him almost a player coach for our wing backs, who could learn a lot from him

Torres maybe a little ambitious but ive just bought him for my Pro Evo master league team, and he is the b*llocks on that, top scorer first season!

What do you think?

not bad, but which full-back will play at right side cause both RC and WB are left sided players ( also left footed) ???

D'oh... trying to be too clever there!

Ifil or Kelly, both got lots of potential and would excell under the leadership of RC

Young failed to make the grade here when he had the chance.

Young made the grade. Hoddle had wanted him to stay but he wanted guaranteed 1st team action when Carr was still no.1; and he requested to be transferred.

If he made the grade he'd have been no.1.....
I for one was not sad to see him go, he never made an impact here. Simple as that. He's only become established now, at Charlton. Carr aint world class so if he was keepin him out then the grade musta been low mate.

At that particularly time, Carr was very good and Young was good enough to be in most Premiereship teams except the top ones. And at that particularly time, none of our players were top international class, not to talk of world class. Even today, we still don't have a really world class player, although we have a few very good internationals.
