According to this SSN story, there's the suggestion that Becks may get fed up with being frozen out at Real and may leave for the time being before he joins up with LA GAlaxy in the summer.
I think it'd be a good idea to take his contract on for 5 months, give us an edge in pushing for 3 cup competitions and a Euro place.
I know the Becks debate has been done to death, but it may be a good idea, in a similar vein to when Klinsmann came back for half a season.

I'll never be opposed to it, but it won't happen.
I'd have him here for a little experience and the most dangerous crosses in world football, few free kicks as well maybe. :p
There would be no point anyway. Davids is in the same mould, came here as an all-conquering hardman yet has done nothing for us. Beckham would bring nothing to us long-term so there is no point in this.

Do you reckon we'd sell a load of shirts, even if he only came for 5 months?

Doubt it. Can't imagine many people would want a shirt with a name that is only around for a couple months.

If you could get it signed, that would be a coup!

I would like to unequivicably disgaree with that. Davids was a huge reason this club kicked on to a new level last year. A revival he seems to help spark in most clubs he goes to, I might add.
The players have no doubt learned loads from him as well.
And frankly, on this seasons performances I' still have him in there beside the Hudd. He'd be winning or at least controlling the midfield like he does in every game he plays, something our other alternatives have falied to do this year.
For me, he's the one, at present, who most deserves a good run with the Hudd to see how he gets on.

I'm sure we've had this discussion before? For the benefit of those who still think Beckham can cut the mustard at WHL;
1) We have Aaron Lennon on the right, he has replaced Beckham in the England squad and is one of the brightest prospects in England
2) We have Steed on the left, he's one of the most consistent performers in the league and has been for years
3) Tom Huddlestone is another emerging talent
4) Why would we pay millions in wages to sokme bloke sitting on the bench? We've just established the club as being progressive, a place where young talent can flourish. It would be a major backwards step to sign Beckham.
Beckham is rubbish, did none of you bother watching the World Cup? He's a has been, football has moved on and he does not have either the pace or the aggression to succeed at the top level anymore.
Oh, and I would agree with choda's above comment, although I see Davids playiung as a very defensive left back......

We don't need him.

I think I made my stance quite clear there.
And regarding Davids - one of my childhood idols, ok yes him being here has coincided with our best season in 15 premiership years but I'm sorry I have to stick by the fact that he has not played for us anything like he played for other teams. For us, I see a lot of hard work, determination and running sure, but he's got old legs and plays way too many misplaced passes, square passes, or makes backward runs. He seems like he's trying to play a role he's not in the team to do. All he needs to do is what he's good at - Win the ball, give it to the passmaster. In this case Hudd.

I have to agree Welshie. I sometimes think people seem to confuse the actual inspiration and experience he gave off the pitch with the exactly the same on it last season. It was clear that in training Davids was a huge help to the kids last season and I think that with relatively good performances produced the results.
As for Beckham his work rate can not be doubted, he was, although in a piss poor Real side, considered the only player to put any form of commitment int o the side the last 2 seasons. Would he be a solution to the lack of leadership with us? Possibly, but the baggage, wage costs and all round circus I feel would not be worth it.
