A few people seem confident that we are in talks with Lyon left-winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

Apparently Damien Comolli has been in France for the past few days holding talks.

Again, saw this story the other day, who knows? Don't expect anything done before the World Cup.

He's a French left winger out of favour at Lyon. He was starting loads of games, but not now.

I dunno if he's quick, skillfull, his blood type, sexual orientation but there's something to go on.

He's just turned 19 and one of the most talented players in french football. He's very quick, good dribler, good shot but lacks a bit in strenght and work rate... He can play on the left, in the hole between midfield and attack and as a striker..

from what little knowledge i have on the lad he seems like he would be a good addition for next seasons european games but i dont think he could hack it in the premiership as he is quick weak and easily fouled. he is a very talented player certainly and wouldnt break the bank.

my mate (french lyon fan) described him :

Awesome technics, really great great player
But he like to play alone so Lyon wants to sold him

A bit like Defoe then. Hmm maybe we can do better. Although he could be a handy squad player, we have very little left sided depth.

I actually like Andy Reid. I think if he lost 5 kg's he'dforce his way back into the side. Now that we're in Europe I'm afraid he will most likely be behind the new left winger we'll be bringing in.

So do I believe it or not. He's got a great pass on him and a good cross, but his let down is his inability to keep up with play or play at a high tempo. If he did get quick and fit then he'd be a top player, but I dont see it happening.

With another 5 kilos, he can try to force his way. But losing 5 kilos, he will not have the weight to do so considering he has gets about like a crab.

Perhaps I should explain what I meant moving like a crab. First, he looks like a crab, being all roundish. His movements are more sideways than forward. He holds up his arms as if they are claws as he moves.

I agree. He could lose the weight but ou can't magically gain pace overnight. I think depending on what left sided players we sign he could spend another season playing predominantly in the reserves if he's at the club at all. A shame really, but we've moved on a lot since we signed him.

i am also a huge fan of andy reid, or should that be a fan of the huge any reid. anyway i think that he's a good player to come from the bench and cause problems. he's definately worth keeping as we are going to have an awful lot more games next season.

What with no one else on the pitch, should be interesting one man against 11.
