Talk about the game in here before, during and after

Spur

I am optimistic for this game purely on the level that we are at home (like that seems to matter this season) and we have just lost so I expect a immediate reaction from the lads.

Lose this and it could be the start of a freefall, with what I percieve to be an unwinnable CC Semi-Final coming up (Don't jump on me for that, I feel Footy politics will rob us, no matter what)

We cannot lose this game!

I'm going for a 4-0 win.

Welsh Spur
15th January 2007, 03:33 PM
True, but Cardiff are a club with problems at the moment, Trust.

All I ask is we reproduce the performance from yesterday, and I'm confident the rest will fall into place. We can't lose this game for a number of reasons:-

1. I hate Cardiff more than I hate Arsenal
2. If we get through it's Southend or Barnsley(Another team I hate - Millenium playoff final, bastards)
3. We could be going out of the other cups in the next rounds - it's a distinct possibility.
4. We're at home

So I'm sticking to my 4-0 prediction. No win since Villa on Boxing Day and after yesterday I reckon we'll thump someone soon. It looks to be Cardiff.

Winning it will be tough granted but they can lose it. i suspect they will have the kids out for the 1st leg and then draft x amount of seniors depending on that result for the second.

Should we be silly/lucky enough to win thru to the final. That concerns me more.Beating scum2 once in god knows how long is one thing beating them twice is completely another.

Call me a cynic but the main thing is to get to one of the domestic finals as we'll certainly play one of the "big 4" (Sky speak) and therefore be guaranteed a place in Europe even if we lose.

I think, that this team will beat us no matter who they stick out, esp with the 2nd leg at their place. I just know the way it works against them, and I can't see it being any different. The thing we have to accept is...the kids are good...the kids are a match for us. I really want to believe we can do it, and if we do and I'm brilliantly wrong then I'll probably cry...but you know what this damn game is like!!

Should we be silly/lucky enough to win thru to the final. That concerns me more.Beating scum2 once in god knows how long is one thing beating them twice is completely another

Yeah, tall order methinks. UEFA cup concentration is what we need.

That only applies to the Fa Cup, if we get Chelsea in the final of the carling cup and lose, the European place goes to 6th in the league. Therefore it looks like we are going to have win the Carling Cup or get a "big 4" team in the final of the fa cup to qualify for Europe next season.

One things for sure, we ain't gonna qualify through the league this year unless a) Pompey and Bolton go on a horendous run b) King gets back asap and Davenport is sold to Winalot to become the dogs dinner that he so clearly is.

Call me a doom mungerer but if we don't requalify for Europe wave goodbye to the good players we have accumulated over the last 3 years and get ready for scrapping.

I'm not sure where the Davenport hate has come from suddenly. He's been pretty good really filling in for King.

I noticed he got blamed for alot yesterday, but if you watch the replays the 1st goal was down to Huddlestone losing his man (Huntington). The 2nd goal it was Dawson on Martins, and the 3rd goal was Tainio's fault for not tracking Butt's run.

I've been quite impressed by him recently. :/

I was curious about this as well. If he'd been picked in front of a fit King or Dawson i could understand a certain amount of resentment. He's more than just a fill in for either (gardener) as well.

What happens if Arsenal and Chelsea get to the CC Final, who gets the European spot then?

The winner of the CC gets automatic entry into the UEFA Cup. If the winner gets UEFA or CL via the league then the UEFA cup spot will go to 6th in the league. The runner up will get nothing, hence Wigan not being in europe this season.

In the FA Cup the runner up goes into europe. Unless the runner up is in the CL, then it goes to 7th.

Here's a question. Let's say we don't finish or earna UEFA spot via league or cup. Do we opt to enter the Inter-toto?

We have been given the following advice for fans from the Police regarding Wednesday night’s FA Cup third round replay against Cardiff City at White Hart Lane. Please take a moment to read it to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening.

"The build up to the game on Wednesday against Cardiff has created a lot of interest and some concerns amongst the fans and the local community.

“In our approach to this game we have made safety our primary concern.

“We have taken a partnership approach and had meetings with the Club, the local Community and the Local Authority. Therefore, to implement our Policing plan, we will have significant resources on duty which sets out to ensure people's safety and tackle any disorder or anti-social behaviour.

“The fans attending the game can assist us all by complying with the following advice:

* To use Paxton Road, Bromley Road and Worcester Avenue as your routes to the Stadium. The area around Park Lane may become congested and create delays for your entry into the Stadium. This applies after the game as well.
* To comply with the Ground Regulations inside the Stadium.
* Do not allow yourself to become involved in any criminal or anti-social behaviour at any time.
* Enjoy the game.

“We will do our best to facilitate the safety of all and we hope you will understand when we impact on your movement around the Stadium.

“We hope you will do your bit to distance yourself from any unacceptable behaviour and will encourage others to do likewise. Any bad Press will only impact negatively on the Club. Your Club."

That's why Keane is worth £15million at least. I never want him to leave I hope he ends his career here.

Worth noting he'll be making his 300th league appearance if he plays against Fulham, and his 150th for us. Only when I read this I realised that he's now played more games for us than anyone.
