My initial reaction was, when Riquelme placed the ball on the penalty spot was. Please for spurs stick it in the net, then this camera angle which flicked from Riquelme to Lehmann then back i somehow knew it wasnt to be for Villarreal. Now im seriously wondering whether it will be Arsenal's year in the Champions League just like Liverpool a year earlier. This fortune of Liverpool last year may have cost us a place in next years champs league due to changes in rules which means if Arsenal win the CL we miss out. Although said this they have to beat the mighty Barce unless Milan can produce something tomorrow night. Lets just hope Ronaldinho doesnt get injured for the CL final.

The only thing we can do is focus on things we do have some say over, such as our leauge position. As I've said before, it's better to be denied CL by the suits than by our own failings..
But by the same token, I'm going to say a nightly prayer for Ronaldinho's fitness from now on....

I've said it before and I will say it again...
All I wanted from this season was a top 6 finish and we have it. I just wanted us to be in Europe next year and we have it. :D
I don't care what Arsenal do, win or lose the Champs league we still need to finish 4th because this shows how well we have done.
Our only major problem this year has been killing games off. Anyone remember West Ham and Sunderland? We also recently lost to Newcastle because they were up for it for 20 mins before we woke up.
We were better than Man Utd, and lost, and we were all over a poor Arsenal team and drew.
Take that as a basis for the Champions League and we will be out of it before we know it.
Yes, it would be good and the money will help but if we don't make it I'm not bothered. We are still progressing and a measure of our success will be how we do next year.
We still need a quality left winger, a big and strong proven finisher (hello Kuyt, bye bye Defoe) and probably a new right back and they all need to be far better than we have now.
Don't get me wrong, I want us to be in the Champions League but I am not watching or looking at anything Arsenal do because it is all about us. We win our next two games and we have had the BEST season since the prem was formed and Arsenal can shove it up their Arse!

We've already had the best season since the Prem was formed! And now I want it to be better!
The extra draw of the Champs League compared to UEFA is pretty big, and to be honest I think we have no chance of getting players like Kuyt unless we're in the big cup. And you should look at our being better than Man U and Arse as a positive! If we add that little bit of quality we could beat them both and we could get through the group in Champs League, I'm not saying it won't be tough and to be honest we probably won't do it the first chance we get, but we have to grab the opportunity while we can! It may not come along for a long time otherwise.
We need to capitalise on our current position to get in the players we need. Anyone remember our last journey into Europe? We didn't use the opportunity to sign quality and then we were out and the big players we were linked with wouldn't look at us twice.
Let's get 4th, cheer as Barca thrash the Goons and then snap up Bridge, Kuyt, Downing and a couple more!

have to say knew right away that penalty wasnt going in, Arse were minging last night and villa could have played all week and not scored, lets hope Barca manage to get to the final and destroy them.

Its all good trust me! they will be too tired to play in the premier league and focused on the CL. Then lose all of it!

Are we going to start bombarding UEFA with petitions and the like?
The only good thing to come out of last night was that if they play like that against Milan or Barca, they will get absolutely annihilated.

I've always been a Barcelona fan, relatively speaking, ever since I visited the Nou Camp as a kid....ah what the **** am i talkin bout, we're all Barca fans now! I think AC Milan will fear Arsenal after last year's shambles...

so assuming we get into the CL next year, what actually happens??
Is it qualifying games first? and then if you're out you have no uefa cup?

Qualifying game for CL first, followed by UEFA cup qualifying if we fail...
