We must win this game to show the strenght of our team when we are home ... I expect we will win 2-1..... As we need thses 3 points to make a good jump in the league table .....
The squad should be :
Chimbonda ---- King ---- Dawson ------ Lee
------------------- Hudd -------------------
Lennon -------- Zokora/Ghaly - Malbranque -
----------- Berbatov/Mido ----- Defoe -----------

i would usually say id take a draw from this game but we can win it and i think this is the type of game we should win if we are to keep up the pressure on Bolton & Pompey. i think its going to be an excellent open attacking match and im going for a 3-2 spurs win

We're at home, we can't lose more than once at home surely? Their away record isn't great against our home record which is. On paper Liverpool are stronger, on current form we are the better side. Could go either way.
I don't like Liverpool, but for the past two seasons I have said they should be second with the squad they have. If they shouldn't be 2nd then they should be very close to it. Definately a team playing below themselves.

This is going to be a real test for our young team, I think we can match or better Liverpool in most postitons, my only concern is Huddlestone and Zokora up against Gerrard and Alonso. Im confident that Huddlestone can hold his own but i worry that Zokora will get ripped apart by Gerrard, this may be a good game to drop zokora in favour of one of our other centre mids.

We have to be up for this in the same way a just released ex-con is up for sex.
If we are then I can only see a good day. I think we will win. We've an awesome home record and they have a very poor away record.
I think they are suspect at the back and if we play well we will expose them.

The facts don't support your assertions but when did you ever let that stand in your way? They HAD a poor away record but have only one defeat and one goal conceded in their last 4 away games. In their last 8 games the only goal conceded was the one against Blackburn. It's Spurs who are suspect at the back with 26 goals against to Liverpool's 16(half of those against ManU, Arsenal and in their derby), only 4 clean sheets against their 10 and none in our last 10 games.
Their real weakness is in not converting the chances they create but with Kuyt starting instead of Crouch expect a marked improvement. As we haven't beaten Liverpool in our last 5 and Lennon may be missing expect a 1-1 draw.

Your obsessed with me mate. From these type of posts to your 'translating' my posts to your signature, which is a dig at me from three months ago when I suggested the very common 433 system when we had no wingers.
You've such a fixation with trying to make me look bad that it's actually a compliment.
Your right that I don't always pay strict attention to the facts. I also go my gut. I think we can win tomorrow. Believe it or not we have a good side and have a smashing home record. Liverpools keeper, Hypia, Agger, and Finnan this year don't impress me that much. I think they can be got at. I predict a score draw or a win for us.
And what's actually going on with you is that you have a deep pessimism and negativity and then you go and look for facts as to why you think spurs will struggle. Both in games and over the season. You do it ALL the time and your usually wrong. I don't get where your coming from at all. This is the most exciting time in spurs history for 15 years.
What the hell were you like when we really were a badly run club with a distinctly average team?
What I do with my predictions is try to be as objective as possible with predicting our games and our season. To do that I have to try to separate myself from my love of this great club.
You for some reason are just on a spurs put down bender and try to put down others who show enthusiasm for the club. And what is the definition of a supporter but a enthusiast for the game and your club, and a SUPPORTER.
Sometimes that is about being critical when appropriate.
But if all the players, manager, board and fans were as negative as you we wouldn't even be a professional club.

yeah i agree to some extent, he needs to be combative and eager today or the midfield will be swamped. the team selection will be crucial, if we have no lennon and only one striker we have no chance as far as i'm concerned. Even if we play 5 in the middle none of them can break up play very well so i see us retreating too far back and not being able to support the striker. i would expect us to create a few chances, but i don't see us competing for the 90 mins and we will lack any leadership in the middle. expect a lot of arm waving and bitching as things start to go wrong, rather than the spirited fighting display we need.

davenport comes in for king and mido partners defoe up front. berby on the bench. bellamy is going to destroy our centre backs. the team selection can't be helped due to injuries, but jol must have us play right for the team put out. a good solid defensive performance with us playing long and for set pieces is the way to go. i'd take a nil nil right now.

Your obsessed with me mate. From these type of posts to your 'translating' my posts to your signature, which is a dig at me from three months ago when I suggested the very common 433 system when we had no wingers.
You've such a fixation with trying to make me look bad that it's actually a compliment.
As usual you can't dispute the facts so you make it a personal issue.
What about Shania Twain? Does she impress you much? I predict you will have revised your prediction after seeing King, Lennon and Berb missing.
No, I look at the facts and then reason we won't qualify for CL or beat Arsenal or whatever it is.
What the hell were you like when we really were a badly run club with a distinctly average team?
Funnily enough exactly the same.
And I would say that is exactly what I do but I don't believe in predicting victories I don't believe in just because I'm a fan.

i have to say i thought lee had a poor game, but he had so much responsibility in the first half, i'm not surprised he's nervous. none of our midfield take responsibility for play making, and it's left to him and daws to find a miracle ball.
once bellamy went off we started to believe atleast. i can't argue with the result as we just aren't tough enough to beat organised teams, and we have some seriously lightweight players. i like ghaly but he struggled in front of goal today, but he's just one of those that doesn't score many. murphy did really well and atleast got stuck in, if we sell him we need two more tacklers in the middle. zokora and malbranque can get their p45's now as far as i'm concerned, they are truly hopeless. the result reflects our status in the league top 7 at best.

playing mido from the start was a poor decision. berby didnt look very ill to me.
he completley changed the game and in the end we were unlucky not to get a point. a game of 2 halves except we werent clinical enough.
we are desperately missing lennon

he would be a great signing. would only serve to push and back up Lennon, which judging by Ghaly's last few games, is needed

I think Zokora needs a season to fully settle in.I know it's as fraustrating as ****, but i think if we stick with him we will see just how good he is next year.I agree with those who have said he hasn't been the same since the malaria thing, but he IS class and will show it.As for the window, i hope we sign a CB a LB and lets hope the Ashley Young rumours are true.As for Berbatov, well total ****in class. We NEED him fit and he HAS to play.Just think how good he'll be after a season to get used to the EPL!.Keep the faith one and all!!. i was under the impression it was until Jan but if the deal hinged on it we could recall him from Fulham without too many complaints

its a season loan. just checked sky sports.com
how do loans work? can we just ask for him back? would we have to pay compensation?

i think we can ask for him back, and as he doesnt play particularly regularly Fulham probably wont moan

We could have called him back but Chris Coleman revealed earlier that he has permission to play him in the FA Cup, indicating he probably won't return unless we get a large number of injuries in January.

I read around the time of the deal that Routledge is not allowed to be recalled from loan until Jan. So the upcoming window would be our first chance to recall him, if we so wished.

Without the likes of King, Lennon, Berbatov, Keane...it's difficult to win against Liverpool. Nontheless, we didn't deserve to lose.

I'm waiting for MOTD to see these 'sitters' Ghaly missed. Same story at Anfield when Jenas missed a goal-on-a-plate! Apparently we also gave them a good going over in the last 30 min....shame we couldn't snatch the equaliser.
In the last few seasons we've shown we're not overly worse than the top 4 even matched or bettered them so why do we always seem to come off worse?
jrio
30th December 2006, 06:36 PM
They weren't sitters but half chances that he blazed wide in difficult conditions, not really comparable to the one Jenas missed.

I think that we are going to finish 6-8th in the league. My feeling is that this season our competions will be the UEFA and FA cups. We have reached the semies in the Carling cup but we haven't played good so far and personally I don't expect to reach the final. Besides, after each game for the Curl. cup we are shit in the league whereas after each game in Europe we are excellent and win.

is boa even fit and playing at the mo? we don't need another crock. i would think we could get young for 5m, but they sure won't sell him in the position they're in and no strikers. i think we'll finish in the euro spots for next year without any problem, newcastle might be our biggest problem as their players return. Can't see pompey hanging it up there, a result there monday should put paid to that, should be a good open game. the club seem very quiet about lennon's injury, maybe we'll recall routy after all. atleast jol said king will only miss the pompey game. the bad news is pompey rested kanu and he loves scoring against us. i can't wait for the transfers to start as we really do need to strenghten.

i wouldnt sell him for less unless there was a 30%+ sell on fee , hes young (literally) and is gonna get better , stronger etc and grow in value and he plays in a crap team ,with good players around him hell be even better (as per under 21s) and hes already better than Downing
£8m no less , we was dead lucky with Lennon cos of Leeds predicament there wont be another bargain like him for years

everybody knows Watford are going to be relegated, clubs in that position cant really command top dollar for their players, i would imagine Young would want to move onto a bigger club (which we are) so they wont get more than £4million for him i shouldnt imagine

Didn't start playing until Berba was on, but even then they hadn't really done anything so to lose is a right ****.

Very disappointing, but **** it. We had bad injuries, didn't see them in the build up. Arsenal are just as inconsistant.
I didn't see the game but will watch taped highlights in a while.
Bring on the window and some extra reinforcements. Hopefully at least one more out and out winger. This added to the continued improvement should see us still challenge for fourth.

Can't quite see how Mido was given the nod over Berbatov - he and Defoe must surely be the current ideal pairing. Ghaly was useless - I accept the conditions were atrocious, but the way he hit that first shot would have been unacceptable in a midweek clash in a local under-13's leauge.
Despite all the (totally valid) talk of another winger, we really need to get some quality cover at centre-back. Dawson is going to be one of Europe's best defenders one day but at the moment he isn't quite good enough to be the senior partner in the centre-back pairing. Sherrif Ledley needs a deputy!

Don't agree with this at all, so you're saying that Dawson has no more right to the CB spot alongside Ledders than Davenport?
jrio
31st December 2006, 04:27 PM
Agreed, I've been mightily impressed with Dawson since his commanding debut at Anfield 2 years ago which meant that we could be largely spared the sight of waiting for a colossal Gardner error in future games. His distribution reminds me of Ruddock with those long diagonal balls to the wings. There was an instance yesterday in the first half when he and Davenport were keeping the ball, waiting for an opening and gradually being forced deeper, when he knocked it straight to the feet of Lee on the left. Of course, Lee was too ineffective to make anything of it and the ball came almost straight back, wasting some intelligent, measured distribution. Dawson could probably work on over-committing himself against strikers. It's a part of his game we all love to see when we're under pressure, Dawson blocking shots and straining to win every header, but he picks up too many easy bookings as he did against Darren Bent in the 4th minute against Charlton.
