Only a couple of weeks until the January window opens, what do you expect to happen, or what would you like to see happen?
Considering that any signings will be brought in to strengthen our UEFA Cup bid, I think that Gamst Pedersen, who I would love to see above most in a Spurs shirt, won't be joining just yet (i'm certainly hoping for the summer though). Especially as Blackburn are still in the Cup too, it looks extremely far-fetched.
Darren Bent seems a striking option - that's if we were to need one - whilst a centre back has been spoken about for a while.
I think any signings will be youngsters, brought in to add depth to the squad and challenge for a squad place really.
Sounds like Alnwick could be done, but other than that haven't really seen much regarding us and other players.

Yeah, i can only see youngsters being signed.
But i'm a big fan of Gamst too, hopefully we get him at the end of the season.

i can see a defender coming in and possibly a left winger but thats it.
will defoe be sold and replaced though?

A top quality Left winger has to be a priority. MGP or Robben would be ideal but i cant see these happening, at least not till the summer. Curtis Davis would be good cover for ledders and Daws but certainly not for the £8million+
fee that has been mentioned.

Don't think he will. I think we would have him at least till the end of the season. He's gonna play the whole month with Keane out and i see him building up a good bit of form.
Personally i wouldn't want him to leave. I think he's got alot of talent, just needs to find his feet.

Although we all want a left winger to be brougt in asap I think MJ has other ideas and is looking to bring in a centre-half as his priority. Davenport ain't up to the grade (he's dog turd in the air) and Tony Gardener is clealy not his cup of tea either. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wes Brown in the lilywhite come January.
We can't sell Defoe at present because I reckon it'll be mid to late January by the time Keano is back in action.

I doubt we'd get Wesmond Brown. Utd have little cover back there.

O'Shea, Silvestre and Heinze are all cover for the centre half position (all of whom are better than Rio the clown), they also have that Northern Irish kid Evans that impressed on his international debut.

Yeah but O'Shea plays centre mid a fair bit it seems, and Silvestre is generally wank. Brown has been pretty good for them so i can't honestly see them getting rid of him.

...so you admit that Silvestre is infinetly better than Rio.
I have heard that all of the above have been offered in exchange for various players, but certainly O'Shea and Silvestre were offered for Hargreaves, and Brown was offered for Carrick.

Haha, i don't think very much of any of them to be honest. King and Dawson are already better than any of them could hope to be.

Not only are Davenport and Gardner crap, but possibly the most important factor in a quality centre half joining the Club is because of Ledley and his injury/injuries that he is carrying. If we were to get a top class CB in Ledley would be able to have his surgery and not have to rushed back so he is fit and back to being quality toward the end of the season when we could very well need him to lift up a cup for us :D
I must admit that I didn't see the need for a CB a couple months back but now I do. I can't remember who it was that we had this conversation on here (neilmcnabb maybe) but you were right.

They are all decent squad players, perhaps the Duracelled one would be a good player if given a decent run of games, I for one have always thought Silvestre was a better full back than centre half and O'Shea is a useful player as he can cover more or less every positon in defence as well as centre mid.
I say splash the cash and get Upson or Davies as long as they are not in excess of £5-6mil.

If you believe some sources, King has 2-3 years left as a top flight player which is why he doesn't play regularly for England as a) you need a long term partnership at international level, so Terry (horrible man) and Ferdinand (****, shite and a horrible man) have taken on that mantel b) more importantly Ledley recognises that he has been nurtured and loved by Spurs and therefore devotes himself to the cause by way of reciprocation.
I think that these rumours are unfortunately well founded given the calibre of centre half we are tracking.

I was one of those who wrote that we need a decent CB. We need also a top LM/LW. Malbranque is good but not as good as to help us finish 3th or 4th.

I hope to God they are wrong, but I also fear that seeing as they have been around a long time they may be true. But the calibre of centre half could be put down to just wanting to upgrade the squad, I mean an example of that would be having 4 top grade forwards. No other team has 4 forwards let alone 4 top quality forwards.

it seems that the deal for Ben Alnwick has been tied up with Fulop making his loan deal the other way permanent. he looks a decent enough young kepper and he is English which is always an advantage.
i also didnt see the need for a centre back a few months ago but now i really do. i do like the idea of us buying Wes Brown. he is a reliable, solid player with all the experience needed and he still has his best years to come. in the summer Brown & Silvestre were told they could leave which means Brown would be fairly easily available and as we are in Europe & a solid Premiership club so it wouldnt be too much of a step down. i think he would be available for about £3-4million which is good value for someone like Brown (who i think is very underrated).
on the left winger subject, its one that has been a major issue for almost 2 years now, it needs sorting. theres no reason why we couldnt sort it in January. we need to be looking for a real quality target, id like to see MGP or Joe Cole. either one would be costing at least £8million. Joe Cole hasnt really got it together this season and i cant see him fitting in with the new Chelsea system but we obviously wouldbt be the only club after him. MGP may be interested in a move due to the plight of Blackburn but seems loyal to Hughes who wouldnt want to seel him

Can not see much happening to be truefull, I can not see the point on spending up to 10million on Davies who will only be third choice I also believe that Davenport is better anyway. As for a l.w it will not be M.J.P. who has played rubbish all season.

I agree with this. Also agree about Pedersen would love to see him in a Spurs shirt. Him or Martin Petrov. I reckon he and Berbatov would tear the Premiership apart.

If we are worried about Ledley's injury record, it doesn't compare with Wes Brown's!!
A CB and LW is a must, who I don't know, Petrov my top choice for LW, CB Curtis Davies for 6mill, Giles Barnes from Derby and Gareth Bale would be useful additions too, I read something about Lee Cook from QPR, who i must admit know little about.

Not that I want to harm my other team, but if strike cover is needed then S****horpe's Billy Sharp is an awsome prospect at 21. 17 goals this season. He's currently priced at 1.5m which we could easy afford, and it would give some financial clout to Scunny.

Just wanted to add that I think you're being unfair to Davenport - he is actually quite a good player IMO. Just needs to make the first team break-through. Definately better than Bambi, anyway!!!

The last young striking prospect we brought in didn't really work though did he? I know he wasn't given much of a chance, but Zamora was crap anyway.

Me to would love to see Martin Petrov @ Spurs, Your right him and berby would frighten the shit out of the premiership but unlikely he will be coming i think he's out with a long term knee injury and he and the Atletico coach have sorted there differences out.
I was told by a so called itk that Lee Cook of QPR is a done deal. ;)
but we'll wait and see with that.

Is this Lee Cook th same one that played for watford when they were in the premiership in 1999? The blonde left winger? If it is then he looked good, but was too lightweight as he could only have been about 18. Has anyone seen him play this season?

, CB Curtis Davies for 6mill,
Yeah right. £3million tops. Then I might consider it. This kid is nowhere near as good as he's being made out to be. That's my opinion.
He's been known about for a good year-18months now, so why the **** is he still at West Brom if he's any good? **** him. He's not good enough, and I'd rather Davenport anyway.

Not seen him play this season but is getting rave reveiws in the championship. I think the fee what QPR want is £10 million (they can **** right off for that). If it was the same player that use to play for Watford i dunno, think so.

Too true. Personally I think 3mil is about right, maybe a bit too much. Maybe 2mil or 2.5 but 3 is round about so it would be ok.
He's a crap player, certainly not better than our current two, certainly not better than Chimbo at right back so he's not worth a second look.
Let Arsenal buy him and pair him with Senderos OH MY GOD THAT WOULD BE HILARIOUS.
