How many people would be prepared for us to finish 5th to the Scum if it guaranteed them getting hammered by Villareal next week?

JJ
21st April 2006, 03:02 PM
Nah, i'd rather finish 4th even if Arsenal won the CL.

TomMcLaren
21st April 2006, 03:03 PM
even though they would qualify as winners at our expense?

JJ
21st April 2006, 03:05 PM
Well if the choice is between finishing 5th and them going out, or us finishing 4th and them winning it.

Either way we don't go, we might as well finish above them.

TomMcLaren
21st April 2006, 03:06 PM
I couldn't handle the bragging rights!

JJ
21st April 2006, 03:07 PM
Well, we've had little to brag about to them for many a year, it would be nice to finish above them.

TomMcLaren
21st April 2006, 03:09 PM
true, but it would just get thrown back in our faces!

JJ
21st April 2006, 03:17 PM
Yeah i know. But i'm used to hearing how great Arsenal are. It's about time we showed them the future of English football.

TomMcLaren

Emphasis on the "English" :D

JJ
21st April 2006, 03:37 PM
Exactly.

Robbo, King, Jenas, Carrick, Defoe, Lennon, Dawson, Davenport, Huddlestone, Routledge.

All nice and young, all nice and English.

That my friend, is how it should be done.

losing the fourth spot after such a long time at it would be embarassing.

now this is a tricky subject, for some reason i am friends with an awful lot of arsenal fans, far too many but anyway id rather finish 4th even if it means them winning the CL as it would generate more money for the club and i have a few bets on who'll finish higher, spurs or arsenal

To: Tom and JJ

Have you two heard yourselfs, talking about spurs finishing above arsenal!

Say it again, think about the words

Spurs... finishing... above... Arsenal... how good does that sound???

Christ, i get shivers down my spine!

Yid Army!!!:D

Agreed!
but with the dilemma, I don't know what to choose!
Both such a kick in the teeth!
Can't we have scum getting destroyed by Villa/milan or BARCA, and us getting 4th!?
:D

All I can say is i strangely want Arsenal to beat Villareal. If they lose then their focus will be purely on winning in the EPL. if we drop points then were doomed. If however they beat Villareal and then get stuffed by Barcelona in the final (ideal scenario), then their focus would be somewhat distracted and if we do (fingers crossed we don't) happen to drop a point or two then we may still finish fourth.
So come on Arsenal! wear yourselves out playing in Spain and concentrate on the CL. Then up yer bum and hello to UEFA cup.:p

I still see us slipping up and them snatching that spot though, I feel so pessimistic :(

Now Vinno! this is all to do with your long assosciation with mediocrity. it has become a habbit for you and the reality of achieving such great heights has you scared and trembling. In time you will get over this feeling of insecurity and start enjoying life!

Come see me again same time next week!

finishing 4th and loosing CL should arse win the CL would be getting shafted by men in suits playing with the rules
or
slipping up and finishing behind arse would be our fault

its a no-brainer for me, pride in spurs outweighs hate for the scum

Definately, if we aint gonna get in CL then finishing above them would be only comfort, PRIDE people, PRIDE!

I'm hopin that home advantage continues to serve us as it has for the last 2 years against Bolton, and that West Ham's eye on the FA Cup final will be distraction enough, along with our need to get 4th, to beat them at Upton.

COYS!!

finish fourth without a doubt, the rest is out of our hands, we have been in that fourth spot since, what, beginning of december, we will finish there, i have faith in the lads, there are times this season when I thought that we wouldnt stay there, but the team got the results when it really mattered and showed that they can handle the pressure. Anyone got any thoughts/predictions on how we'll fare during the final two games?

Tough one to say.

At home, we're tough to beat. But Bolton are one of those teams you can never really tell with.

West Ham away, well they may have 1 eye on the cup final. which could work in our favour, but again not an easy team to beat.

They're both games that we must win if we honestly think we deserve to be in the CL.

Summed it up perfectly there...

Just read this next quote on spursweb,

Mido said, "Tottenham are still negotiating to keep me and I hope for that, but if it doesn't work out then it's not the end of the world, because if I'm not here next season I'll be playing at another club."

Why should this selfish, egotistic idiot be allowed the chance to stay here? Players like Robbie Keane set an example...he's fast becoming 'Mr. Tottenham' and more players like HIM can do us no harm.

Yep, I've got faith in us to do the buisness over the next 180 minutes. May be nerve-wracking, my even be painful - but isn't that just the way we like it?

In total agreement over the fourth place issue; if we finish fourth and arsehole fluke the CL then we'll have won the moral victory and any bragging rights the scum may think they have will have been garnered on a technicality. If we finish fifth then it really will have thrown it away and we won't really have much comeback in piss-taking terms.

Four points could edge it, six points will seal it...WE ARE SO CLOSE NOW!!!!

All together now

WE ALL DREAM OF A TEAM OF ROBBIE KEANES.....

The next two matches are MUST WIN games, and I personally believe that the lads can do the job. Whether it's a comfortable one remains to be seen, we have no problem scoring goals but we need to see out the remaining 15 minutes of matches. Im gonna put a tenner on Keane to get 3 more goals out of these two games....

I think we'll end up beating both bolton and west-ham. Bolton travel badly and West Ham will be looking towards the FA Cup final, which i seriously think they have a fair chance of winning!! But i reckon Arsenal will get turned over at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Bolton should be a no-brainer...it's the away game that worries me

TomMcLaren

I reckon we'll have them both. Bolton have nothing to play for and West Ham are going to be concentrating on the cup.

west ham have secured their spot in europe by getting to the cup final havn't they? they're only gonna be playing for match day pride. its muuuuch bigger game for us than them.

Bolton are playing for Europe and West Ham are playing a London derby, they won't be lying down. At the end of the day we just need to play our game and take our chances. we can easy beat them both but we have to be more confident and not hope that they won't be fully focused.:D
