Watching the Pompey v Bolton game and have been impressed with Mendes and davis performances..I always liked Mendes and felt Davis given time would be a good attacking midfielder...
Looking around the prem there are a few ex spurs playing and doing well for their clubs.
Is it that they just weren't good enough for us?..or didn't fit our system?(whatever that is)..I can't help feeling that what we've been left with isnt always the best ..in terms of performance and often attitude?
Of course Pompey wont finish where they are at the mo..but teams like Villa ,Everton etc..teams that will b challenging us for euro spots just seem more balanced and have more drive and direction.
I know Lennon is out..and berby injured and Malbranque ..well we'll see..
but I'm concerned with the club as a whole in terms of players being brought in and sent out....someone makes these decisions...is it always bad luck..bad judement.Year in Year out same thing..players come and go and often do better elsewhere..they come to spurs and it doesn't happen?

Would never have sold him in the first place. You don't sell champions league winners.

I see your point, all the MF players we've signed & sold in
the last 18 months is amazing! But i can't help feeling that we
got rid of some really good players (Simon Davies, Sean Davis, Mendes, Brown & Reid)
In my opinion we should have kept Michael Brown & not botherd with Danny Murphy

Anderton scored a belter for Bournemouth.
GET HIM BACK! ;)
I was just saying to the missus last night watching the pompey game that had we known that Carrick was going to leave, we probably would have held onto Mendes.

Thanks for the feedback guys...yeah i liked mendes..and it does seem we are a bit of a merry go round for players in and out without ever putting together a team that can go on and achieve.
Of course its easy with hindsight..but there cant be many excuses for the sheer unbalanced nature of the squad..other teams have mayb smaller squads and mayb even lack the big names at times..but seem to b able to get it together and put together teams that if not world beaters look more likely to win games than we do..
Isi t a problem with the club from the top down?

NO!!! the club is fine, from top to bottom and all we need is a bit of time to let the newer better players adapt. all these players you've mentioned are of lesser quality.
you telling me you'd rather have edman, kelly, davis etc to ekotto, chimbonda and jenas. yea, mendes was a great player but played in carricks position. carrick then pissed off without a thought for the team, the club and most importantly, Martin Jol, who resurrected his career!!!
now we have hudds and zokora, who we all knw are bloody good players.
so before we all start doubting the seemingly endless merry-go-round of playes at spurs, just look at what we've actually been left with and compare to what we've lost.

Yeah exactly. That's something that made me more angry about Carrick leaving. I now he couldn't know that he would leave, but if we've just kept mendes we wound'nt lack that controlling midfielder who could do good for the balance on the midfield.

im not saying i want any of them back...there are players i like..same as u all..we have our favourites..
my point was that despite all of the chopping and changing and the undoubted qualities we have...and even allowing for settling in period of players....well we haven't exactly done a lot?..
Im not a doom and gloom merchant..id love a settled squad playing in a way we know and r happy and excited by..or mayb even a winning way...
ill have to disagree..im not convinced..
