I don't care who plays or what the final score is as long as we win, because anything less than 3pts would be feckn awful

If we lose it would be so shameful that I would gladly jump off a cliff.
Hudd and Zoko for me in the middle, JJ on the right and Teemu on the left. Berba and Mido up front. Keane and Defoe both ain't looked good lately.

We just have to get 3 points. For me the starting line should be:
Robbo
Chimbo Daws King Ekotto
JJ Zoko Hudd Davids
Mido Keane
And then Mido has to stay in dangerous areas and close to the box. Not drift out wide.

Spurs: Robinson, Chimbonda, Dawson, King, Assou-Ekotto, Jenas, Murphy, Zokora, Tainio, Keane, Mido. Subs: Cerny, Davids, Lee, Defoe, Huddlestone
Good to see Murphy making an appearance and a prime game for him to have a major influence. If he can't do anything in this one, he better make plans to move on. Alternating Defoe and Keane every game won't help either of them, particularly Defoe. I thought he should have been given a start in this game. Bench looks a little one-dimensional. Would have liked to see Ghaly on there.
Spur
17th September 2006, 02:53 PM
I think we are set. Murphy is a good start. Defoe needs to earn his spot they both do sso until either of them do something decent they should both be sold. Or dropped one of the two.

yeh i think he should leave it as it is for 10-15 minutes then maybe bring JD on for Tainio (assuming Keanes knee is ok) and let the three front boys rotate positions as and when but ideally one running on for flick ons and one holding back for knock downs from Mido
full backs just want to get closer to the goal line to bet the better crosses in.
we will win???? if we score in the first 15 minutes,i think we'll score again, if not i fear we may lose it on the break
Spur
17th September 2006, 04:03 PM
I agree about bringing JD on for Teemu. Thought Danny Murph played very well first half, especially at the beginning. Zokora's touch!?!? People have been saying it but now I can see what they mean - no faulting his effort though - if he makes a mistake he will damn sure make up for it.

im on starsports aswell mate.
i agree with last poster leave it as it is for 15mins but if no goal after that then defoe needs to be brought on with enough time to make any kind of impact. even putting him out wide if jol doesnt want to risk having 3 midfielders.

Just his general play. He holds on to the ball for far, far too long - even when a decent pass is staring him in the face and waving at him. His free kick that went into the toilets in the east stand. He just does nothing that says to me 'i'm good and will be a great player'.

wish i hadnt bothered watching it now. another depressing and frustrating performance from spurs
pathetic displays from everyone except the back 4 who are fast becoming an awesome back line
keane did nothing about time he had a shot on target(at least defoe hit some decent efforts in the time he had) mido very quiet. disappointed with jenas and zakora after their displays in europe. murphy and tainio did nothing special either
things must improve. what a crap result at home especially against a team who are so badddd away from home

no sorry dont agree, think hes put in some good challenges winning many, good passing,a few runs , one of our best players again.
robbo 5 distribution wasted too many times, play thru the defence/midfield
BAE 6 good defensively, needs to work on crossing better
Chimbo 6 ditto
King 6
Dawson 6 both solid tho should bring it out of defence more
Tainio 6 good at breaking up play
Zokora 6 energetic tho needs to look up more when ball at feet
Murphy 6 back in the team, lacked a bit of match fitness clearly , needs games
Jenas 7 see above
Keane 5
Mido 5 if you aint seeing the ball you both have to come and get it
Spur
17th September 2006, 05:02 PM
Yea our full backs were different grade.
When we play Keane and somoene it turns into one up front, thats why when Defoe was there with them we started doing a bit better. In then end it was just lump it up though and we struggled.
Need to start winning - need to start scoring.

very poor game, our build-up was pathetic...
I'm deeply concerned about the technical skills of our midfielders, can't believe it that some people here regard Tainio as one of out most important players. He's just average, no less and no more. Jenas was poor but don't blame only him, the other were not any better...
If you get 4 good midfielders and 2 good strikers from other teams, i.e. players that have never trained together, they won't play worse...
Lets face the facts - Spurs undergo a crisis.

Murphy started very well and never put a foot wrong...that equals a 4...?
Teemu was strong all game and got forward whenever possible...again a 4...?
I didn't even think Jenas had a 4 and I rate him next to Djimi Traore.

Our strikers got no service from the midfield. There was no idea in our build-up. Who is guilty for the lack of creativity? In my view Tainio, Jenas and Murphy made next to nothing to open Fulham's defence. But it would be a bit exaggerated to blame only the midfielders. The whole movement of the team is bad in attacking respect. Our defensive play is very solid. This is the good news. But the lack of creativity is shocking.
Spur
17th September 2006, 05:32 PM
Well I actually thought we played good. Teemu IMO didn't get too involved but got forward and had a couple of half chances. Keane drops off too far to be classed a striker - sometimes it works, others it doesn't. Mido had nothing to work with and our full backs were excellent. Again.
The lack of goals is frustrating and it's something that we were cursed with last year I believe too. The good news from today was that we played with shape and composure. The bad news is that lack of goals.
We just go from one problem to another but at least we dominated the game and should have got all three points.

AAGGHH... pain.
0-0 against a rubbish side at home. Same old story.
The main problem for me right now is that we are not looking to pass it forward when we can and keeping the ball rolling. That would get the team moving... they are so static!
The second problem is the lack of creative midfielders. Today one played: Murphy and I think he showed enough to suggest given a run he'd grow and play well.
We were slightly better today and looked to pass it forward more but still many many times we go back to stopping the ball and going back to one paced static play. Players standing around like training cones.
You can't blame the strikers they are getting hardly any good ball. It is all to difficult areas. They are not being brought into the games properly (as they would if the players behind we looking to pass it forward where possible and keeping it rolling) and as a result are cold when a chance comes along.
Jenas was better today, he was looking to do the right things and was one of our best midfielders. He's not clever like murphy and we need more of that but he playing much better than Tainio.
Jol really needs to get them on the training pitch an sort this out, huge lack of good movements and good attacking play.

I'm ****ing angry right now!! ****ing devestated. We played okay, but we lack creativity so much. Chimbo was my MOTM a was maybe the player who touched the ball most today and that says a lot about our game.

Chimbo 8
Daws 6
King 6
Ekotto 7
JJ 6
Zoko 6
Murphy 5
Tainio 3
Keane 5
Mido 4
Defoe 6
Tainio was a ****ing disgrace and played like shit. He gave away possession all the time and didn't create anything. Murphy was good in the beginning of the match but disappeared and didn't do much. JJ worked hard but was rather anomous the rest of the match. Zoko did okay, and tried to create something. The strikers did't get much services but didnt do much on their own or created anything..

We have four forwards who are good enough to score between 15-20 goals a season a piece, we have scored 2 in 5 games 1 of them from M.F. Our problem is our M.F. are not creative enough we have plenty of hard workers but no one who can create that special ball often enough. We had one who we should never have been allowed to leave and just shows how much some of our supporters who said he would not be missed know about the game.

I don't normaly like to knock players but in my limited knowledge of playing sunday morning football, i have more nouce than Mido.
Zat Knight won every ball that was put in the air towards Mido. Fair enough Knights havin a good game buy marking Mido and nullifing any ariel threat he may pose.
So what does Mido do ?....... NOWT. He just lets himself be dominated by Knight. Why didn't Mido drag Knight over to Pearce ? So that he now has two Central defenders marking him. Yes it completely puts himself out of the game but it also creates space as Pearce would want to get away from Mido as he's not his problem, it's Knights.
Everywhere Pearce went Mido should have followed, dragging Knight with him. At some stage they would have f*cked up with one thinking that the other was picking up Mido or a huge gap appear for someone to fill from a knock down / loose ball.

yer it was obvious knight was gonna do well against mido so why not play defoe and keane. Neither of the strikers showed any belief or hunger, they just want to pass all the time. I also don't understand why we don't play lee on the left as he gave some width last year while doing a defensive job.

Defoe has only started one prem game, Keane is not producing the goods, either drop Keane or play him in a 3 man front line or alongside Defoe. I know this will provoke reaction but Defoe just looks more likely to score than Keano at the moment.
We might as well try 3 right now as the midfield is so ineffective. I reckon a front six of Zoko/Hudds/Jenas/Keane/Defoe/Berbatov is more than worth a pop.
