anyone else hear it?
had the usual rhetoric about not playing all the time and his hopes for the world cup but one comment worried me.
he was led slightly by the interviewer who asked...
'if it continues (not starting for spurs behind mido & keane) will you have a word with martin jol about your position'?
JD: 'yes i guess i'll have to'.
this isnt word for word but its as accurate as i could recall from yesterday.

Well he needs to buck his ideas up then!! I remember Keano at the start of the season, and the Keano we have now is a different player altogether.
He is now a leader on the pitch, always geeing the players up before the game with his 'hand slaps'. He is now my first choice striker, I wouldnt have said that at the start of the season. Defoe needs to follow in his footsteps

I know, isn't it fantastic? He is a leader in terms of performances and professionalism, let alone the motivational aspects. Would never have guessed that he would develop into this kind of player...

You could have stuck any player in that interview and you would have heard the same desperately obvious replies. Don't forget, there's nothing quite so dull as an interview with a football player. I wouldn't worry about his comments. I personally would have been startled if he had stated anything else!

its just the tone of his voice and the context in which he said it. he was led slightly but it still made me feel uneasy.
put it this way, i'll be more surprised if defoe is a spur next season.
