I was thinking, 4-5-1 at the Library this weekend, keep them contained and play for the point...
----------Robbo
Stalteri,Dawson,Davenport,Lee
----------Carrick
Jenas,Murphy,Davids,Tanio
----------Keano.

You seem to have included Lee! Was this an error as i think he has been shot?;)
A point at the Library will be good but we need to play for three i think coz we are better at defending when were not defending!
Fingers crossed.

Please hold me to this! if Davids plays we are down to 10 men and we will lose.
i will eat my hat if we win with him playing.
I admire him for his past but that was in the past. after seeing him against Man utd i didn't feel he contributed a bean, infact the opposite!
Why not play him in Lee's place? It would solve both problems!;)

yeah i said before the game davids contributes nothing on the left wing. I would have liked to see lennon up against neville and play jenas on the right. He'd do a defensive job on ronaldo and we'd have two combative midfield. I also thought we could play kelly at left back and push lee up to left wing and take davids off.
It's not like thay attacked much down that side.

We should make sure we score some goals because you never know when Henry decides to score a goal and im not sure that Daws and Gardner is quick enough to prevent us from the speed of Henry and Reyes... Therfore:
Robbo
Stalteri, Daws, Gardner (if fit), Lee
Lennon, Jenas, Carrick, Murphy
Keane, Defoe

I think Davenport should play, he's big got a good header and got a long stride to help him cover ground, he can keep the line well as well and seeing as that is from one game it means he did bloody blindin'!
Agree we should drop Davids again, something is seriously not right with him, but bring back Teemu if fit. Arsenal have got the most inexperience at the back, it's hard to believe they are doing well with it in Europe. Flamini at left-back is the worst, seeing as he is a central mid, Lennon can and should run at him all day. Other thing is it is evident the centre-halves cannot contain a ball over their heads, ok ok we shouldn't play like that, but now is the time to grind out three points no matter what.
We played well vs ManU and the lads will know that, i'm quite sure that confidence will be still be high, but that nerves may be starting to kick-in, this is one reason Davenport should play. Gardner seems the type to worry about making a mistake, i'm sure we all agree he is a confidence player..? Well Calum owes us nothing, chances are he was going to be sold at end of season and there is nothing to suggest otherwise still. If he wants to play at Spurs he has to perform now, it's his only chance.
Just to mention, hope Judas plays, he nearly scored an own-goal at the Lane, now would be the most pleasing time to actually do it.

How about a team of Robbie Keanes? :p
Gregzy
19th April 2006, 12:33 PM
Yep, a team of Robbie Keane's would be ideal. Although we may suffer from a lack of height at the back...:)
Going for a draw at the library is not a good option for us -we all know how the filth can get themselves a goal from no-where. Our best bet is to take the game to them and hope young Mr Lennon is feeling like having one of his particularly devestating afternoons!
Totally agree that Davids will be more hindrance than help to our cause - for the little that it's worth, here's my line-up
Robbo
Stalteri Dawson Davenport Lee
Jenas Carrick Murphy Lennon
Keane Mido (if fit)

Although Davids hasnt been playing well, this is his type of game. He needs to bully their midfield. Mido has to play to provide height upfront so Defoe will have to sit on the bench. Davenport played well on Monday considering he was up against rooney and van nistlerooy

THANK YOU! Davids would make a great left back, I've been saying this all season. Then we can play Lee left midfield (same end product, less of a liability) or drop him altogether. I'm also convinced we could play 3-5-2 with Lee and Stalteri as full backs;
GK - Robbo
Def - Gardner Dawson Davenport
Wingback - Lee Stalteri
Mid - Davids Jenas (supporting front 2) Carrick
Str - Mido Keane
OR
Robbo
Davids Dawson Davenport Stalteri
Lee Carrick Jenas Lennon

" keep them containted and play for a point" that would be a nightmare to watch and the biggest mistake of our season so far.

Personally I don't see us beating both Bolton and West Ham.
This is the most winnable game we have left IMO. Then again Bolton is at home with 36,000 Yiddo's and West Ham may be thinking more about the prospect of the FA Cup final.
And yes, I do realise I am pessimistic.

What about Kelly?
Also , all of you suggesting we go there to contain for 90 minutes seem to have forgotten how bad we are at containing for 5 minutes , let alone 90. If we go out and play like we did against Manure and Lee doesnt play or remembers that he can turn outside as well as inside (my mistake he cant as he is the only right footed left back in the premiership) , we will come away with at least a point.

There is no way we can go to the scum looking for a point, the team concedes too many sloppy goals to rely on a rear guard action. As with the Man U game I think the best way to approach the game is to go for the throat, let them spend more time worrying about us, after all they HAVE to win.

I completely agree. We are not good enough defensively like liverpool to hold out against the likes of Henry. We can score goals and are a threat going forward. Lets go for it

I can't wait for Dawson to take Henry's legs.
It would be well worth the red card and three match ban...

Does anyone remember us "parking the bus in front of the goal" at Chelski? If we can pull that out, maybe we can do the same at the Scum.

when we parked the bus infront of the goal at chelsea we had a completely different defence and midfield than what we will have on saturday.
i dont rate any teams chances of sitting back against arsenal and soak up pressure for 90 mins and hope for a point, it would just be asking for trouble
we just need to play as we did against everton and utd (minus the individual errors) and have a little bit more luck in front of goal and we have a great chance of winning the game

Keep the flanks really strong and let Carrick sit in the middle doing his stuff, we can win this one. C'mon U Spurs.

Good point, but I would still rate our chances of repeating it if we play the right formation - not likely though, think we'll see the usual suspects...

Sure hope we win on saturday - the biggest game in my history as a spurs-supporter except for the cup-semifinal in 1991.
I will be at the pub when it opens and hopefully sober enough when the game starts. I really hope it'll go our way this time.
This time it's war! Here's a quick prematch ANALysis of our "opponents":

I just hope that if Davids plays he's in a central position where he can be effective rather than drifting in from left and leaving lee exposed. Hope Tainio is fit. I'd play him as we need to get stuck into Goons and not let them play. We gave Man U too much respect. Not one proper physical challenge was made till last 5 mins. Cannot afford to give Ars time and space.
Keep the faith -- we'll get the result we all crave
