After Jose's comments, thought I would test the water with this poll

We'll make 4th certainly, maybe even 3rd with a bit of luck.

I should have made this a public poll - I want to know who said first!!!

Even as a perpetual optimist, I'd think 1st is still a wee bit away from us this season.

I went for 4th, with 3rd being a possability other than that anywhere in the top 4 @ the scums expense would do nicely, and have us laughing all the way to the bank with CL windfall boosting the transfer kitty evenmore and thus strengthing the squad for a push to the title.

I believe it will be manu then chelsea this season.. Then a close race between spurs arsenal and liverpool...this dream will only occur if we sign some quality players before the deadline. SPurs to finish 4th! Liverpool 5th maybe!

After the Bolton game I read in another Spurs forum the following.

Before the start of the last season a spurs fan was told by some neutral man that Tottenham will finish 5th and he laughed at the latter for he thought that his prediction was unserious.

Before the start of this season the Spurs fan was told by the same man that Spurs will finish 11th and he laughed again...

A small blessing: the man predicted also that Tottenham will win a Cup c/o Berbatov.

I'm afraid guys that this misterious man could be quite right...

I don't believe in oracular stories but I think that we may struggle to finish 10th this season. The problem is not that we lost 2 games out of 3 but that in the lost matches our performance was just so poor...

Anyone want to take back that top 4 finish now?

Well I know a man who predicted we'd finish fifth last season and push Arsenal and Liverpool hard for fourth.

That man was me, and you might like what I predict for this season a little more... I predict we will finish fourth or may win a big cup. Either way I firmly believe there will be some kind of success this year.

We are having problems right now but let's not too pesimistic. We bought a lot of new players, it was not a settled side. MJ I'm sure will see there is lack of creativity, and will rectify it.

He surely can't persist with Jenas as the second creative midfielder, he's not got the ability. Surely even Murphy can make a big improvement. Arsenal and Manu have even three creative midfielders as Fabregas and Scholes are also decent ball winners.

Well, I hope you are right buddy!

Personally, I have no doubts about the huge potential of our team. It's evident that we have very good players: Robbo is the gk of England, Lee - SK international with CL experience, King and Daws are potentially the best CB couple in Premiership, Ekotto is very gifted, Davids and Zokora - among the best DMs, Lennon - one of the brightest talents, Defoe is also a very good forward, Keane and Berbatov can be on their day world-class...

So, I have no doubts that this season we will enjoy good victories and get possibly some Cup. But I worry that it will be almost impossible to finish 4th. The squad is relatively young and unexperienced, we have new players lacking Premiership experience and the start is so bad that I'm concerned about the confidence of the team. To be sure, the atmosphere is psychologically very bad.

Carrick was the link between our defence, our midfield and our forwards. Now there is no such link and we need time to get used playing in different ways, possibly with a LW or playmaker. And I'm afraid that during this time we'll lost our chance to challenge for the top 4. Jeah, Arsenal's start is nearly as bad as ours but they play better and create by far more chances...We not only suffer defeats, we create almost next to nothing.
