Downing or Ben Arfa & Chimbonda

according to my city source, whos paper this morning ran a baptista story, has heard that ben arfa is a backup deal if downing doesnt come off. either way its looking like chimbonda is going to also be signed.

The way I look at it is that neither Downing nor Ben Arfa is the complete product we're in requirement. Downing might be just good enough for the English game, but doesn't possess the intricate skills and guile required for Euro matches, while Ben Arfa could just be the opposite.

keanodinho, i realy have time 4 your comments same wid china and a few others onn here but i realy think we are a little short on the field of play,we now have european games, and we are gona have to blood some youngsters in these as well as cup matches, if any of our key players get injured, i mean 1st 2 games and were sweating on fitness of a striker to be on the bench, and a centre back, who we can be confident off...

if the baptista rumour is true then great, (even if it was a loan like mido) he could act as a striker and as an attacking midfielder which will also help the team adapt to situations during games, also kuffour would be worth a couple of quid, you dont play for bayern and roma if you havent got talent and can play at centre back or at right back. for right wing i would consider mgp or petrov

Well I'd also love to add a cb and rb in there. Kuffour would be the business as he can cover either. Don't forget Ziegler was also bought as a left back.

And we don't know if one of the three young lads will be ready this year and as you say only Pekhart is really a target man.

Though maybe Barny is a target man too, I've only seen glimpses of him, he looks fairly big.

Anyway I'm slightly worried about the cover if a striker is missing. If those two young lads are not ready or Barny isn't good enough then we are short even on the bench when one of the strikers is injured.

If two of them are missing then we could be in big trouble. As it stands now it seems Berb will have to play 90 min every game he plays and when he's missing the two little guys will have to work and also the bench will be thin.

All in all I am worried about striker aswell. That's cb,rb,lw and striker.

I knew I'd forget someone and it was Zeigler. I think your probably right about the strikers and hopefully the Mido rumors on the internet today are true. I'm happy with our CB though as Hudd can cover there as well and Zeigler can cover LB.

We really need LWs though and you just know we're going to leave it late like we always do.

I read from a post on another board that Ben Arfa said something like he's signed for us and would like to play the Scum. He actually said the word "scum". Just for that being a foreigner, I'll elevate him to legend status.
